I am so happy you were able to play during our wedding. Absolutely beautiful, Thank you so very much for making our wedding so special.
The quality of this group was extraordinary. We saw them perform at a small wedding as well as our larger church wedding. Both experiences were enhanced by their creative versions of classical, liturgical, and popular music. The singer tied the mass together in the most uplifting manner. Hannah's creativity in matching our wedding vision with the music was so helpful, not to mention her patience! Who knew chamber music could be so versatile and inspiring?
Hannah was responsive and professional throughout the planning process. The musicians were prompt arriving to our ceremony and sounded so beautiful. I cannot recommend them enough for your wedding! They added a beautiful touch to our ceremony :)
Any questions?
I could not be happier with how Hannah and her musicians performed at my wedding! Hannah was so easy to work with and was extremely flexible with any of my last minute requests. I hired a quartet and they learned two special songs for me, which sounded amazing! I had so many guests compliment them!
Definitely recommend this group for any wedding ceremony needs! Hannah was helpful and kind throughout the entire planning process and everything day of went off smoothly without a hitch. The strings were great and they were able to help with a request to play "Concerning Hobbits" as my wife walked down the aisle. Definitely recommend!
Music was a huge part of mine and my husbands vision for our wedding day. A large part of that vision was a string quartet that had a repertoire of modern music. Harlequin Chamber Music played for our ceremony and cocktail hour and our guests LOVED it. I had so many songs to choose from in their repertoire. They played everything from Bohemian Rhapsody, to Lose Yourself by Eminem. They were a hit. If you have a similar vision - hire them. They were fantastic.
We were looking for something really specific - a string ensemble that could play all hip-hop and pop songs for our wedding and they nailed it! Hannah and Harlequin Chamber Music are pros and can handle anything you throw at them from the most traditional classical to virtually any pop song you can think of. No problem if they don't know the song, they'll find and learn it or arrange it if they can't find the sheet music. They were professional, easy to communicate with, on time, and every piece was timed perfectly throughout the wedding. Couldn't recommend Hannah and her team more!
Music is very important to me and my husband, and we couldn't have asked for more with Hannah and her colleagues. They added such beauty and class to our wedding. Everything was timed perfectly, and Hannah didn't just ask what songs we would like played, but how we would like them played and customized the style, combination of songs, and tempo. We couldn't have had better, and anyone who hires Harlequin Chamber music will feel the same.
The music they provided for our ceremony was BEAUTIFUL!! We hired to the string trio with viola. Hannah was super easy to work with, she even added two hymns to their repetoire at my request and the arrangements they played were stunning. Very responsive in emails too. Several people commented later on how fantastic the ceremony music was. If you're looking for strings at your wedding - hire them!!!
Being a musician, music was a very important decision for our wedding as it should be for anyone's wedding. Our wedding was at Southern Oaks and I wanted the music to match the elegance of the venue for the wedding ceremony. Hannah and her musicians were wonderful! They really set the perfect ambiance and was exactly what we were looking for. Hannah was great to work with in preparation leading up to the event as well. Highly recommended for the professionalism as well as their skills as musicians.
I couldn't have been happier with Hannah and her team. She was responsive and easy to work with throughout the entire process, and their repertoire is vast. The music was beautiful and just what I wanted for my ceremony. It was a component that I know my husband and I will not forget.
Hannah and team were amazing at our ceremony. We only requested 4 customized songs and gave Hannah free range for the rest and she out did herself!! The music was absolutely amazing. I am still blown away at how amazing the violin and cello sounded together in the mass. Thank you again so much!!!
• Harlequin Chamber Music was a lovely addition to our wedding ceremony. My father (of the bride) really wanted a quartet to add elegance to the ceremony. Although this wasn’t something that we were dead set on at first, we couldn’t image the wedding without them. They had so many song selections that ranged from classical music to today’s top hits. I was so happy to see how many Beatles songs they could play as I huge fan as it added a nice personal touch to the wedding. Best of all, my parents surprised us by asking them to play the Spider-Man theme song as my husband and I walked down the aisle (which has personal significance for me and my husband’s relationship). We highly recommend to listen to your father, and hire Harlequin Chamber Music for your big day!
The 2 weeks leading up to your wedding are extremely stressful, but let's add a global pandemic on top of that. We planned a New Orleans destination wedding, 150 New Yorkers with hotels and flights booked, and most of my vendors paid in full. Needless to say, our wedding on April 5 isn't happening.
Harlequin Chamber Music was booked to be our ceremony music. But because our wedding had to be put on hold, we never had the chance to enjoy the beautiful music this group would have given us. However, this review is still important.
Hannah and Harlequin Chamber Music were helpful and professional every step of the way from the first time I reached out to the last email we exchanged. We had some fun (non-classical) songs planned for the processional, and Hannah's group was excited to play them, and ready to learn the songs they didn't know and that made us really excited in anticipation of the big day.
Hannah was really easy to work with and plan with, and when I unfortunately had to ask her for a refund due to the pandemic, she acted as any normal, compassionate person in this situation should act: she immediately refunded me, no questions asked.
Book this group, they are professional in every sense of the word.
We really enjoyed working with Hannah. While I honestly don't know how the music went before since I was hiding behind the scenes, my guests said it was lovely. We even asked for them to learn a new song a few weeks out for my procession and they nailed it. If you're looking for variety and plenty of songs to play this group knows it.
Hannah Yim was a pleasure to work with at my wedding. Planning process was easy, organized, and straight forward. She was very professional and had great communication. Music sounded great. Would definitely recommend her services for your wedding ceremony!
I hired Hannah Yim and HCM for our wedding ceremony and they delivered exactly what we asked for. Hannah was easy to work with, and was able to accommodate all of our special requests such as tempo changes or starting a song/piece from a certain point instead of from the beginning.
I did not have the pleasure of meeting Hannah since she had another engagement booked, but the four musicians that played showed up on-time, played exactly what we asked for, and played until all the guests had left the ceremony room. After shopping around, HCM was the best price value for what I needed for my ceremony. HCM added a level of class to the ceremony and we highly recommend them.
One of the most memorable parts of our wedding the weekend before last was the string quartet! From the start, we were so impressed by Harlequin Chamber Music. Their website allowed you to hear samples played by a soloist, duo, trio, quartet, etc. My husband is a classically trained violinist, so he had a clear idea of what he wanted but it was helpful for me to have him suggest something and then play the clip so we could decide what size ensemble would be best. Hannah was so professional and easy to work with. Plus, they learned two songs for us ("Just Like Heaven" and "Here Comes Your Man"). The classical music was exquisite, but our friends were so happy and surprised to hear these popular songs from our middle and high school years played as well. I didn't want to go inside after the ceremony and miss the postlude. I would have happily plopped into the last row and listened to them all night. Thank you so much!
Hannah was amazing, she really went above and beyond and made our experience so much easier. A dream to work with and beautiful music. I highly recommend.
Harlequin Chamber Music played the music for our outdoor wedding ceremony this weekend, and it was one of the highlights of our day. Hannah and her crew are professional, friendly, easy to communicate with, and the very best musicians in town.
They not only play the "classic" wedding tunes, but have original arrangements of hundreds of songs from top 40s to oldies, ballads to tangos to throwback hits that will really get the nostalgia flowing... all played seamlessly by an elegant string quartet. Hannah even offered to arrange a song of our choosing if there was something special we couldn't find on the list.
Some of our guests were professional classical musicians and said that the music was "truly world class." The pricing was super reasonable considering the skill, preparation, refinement, and professional level of the musicians.
Huge thanks to Hannah and Harlequin Chamber Music for making our day so special. We can't recommend them highly enough, and I wish I could listen to them play all day.
I struggled with whether or not to write this review, but I have to. We hired Harlequin Chamber Music a year in advance. At first, things went smoothly. I got my selections to Hannah months ahead of time. However, around June is when things got weird. It took a month or two for HCM to confirm they got payment. Then my mother couldn’t get a hold of them by e-mail or phone. It took two weeks for them to get back to us with requests to re-send the music selections. It had been a while and I had no problem double and triple sending things to make sure this process went smoothly. Our venue coordinator and my aunt were listed day-of contacts, and they had my mom’s number as well. With so many ways to reach us, I’m still in awe of how things played out:
• The evening before the wedding, I received an e-mail from HCM asking how long our ceremony would roughly last because one of the musicians had another gig immediately after ours. I gave HCM a rough estimate of how long our ceremony might take in an effort to be accommodating. We hired them for an hour, and I was concerned about them leaving early considering how much we paid. I really didn’t want to be “that person,” so I let it go.
• By 6:30 p.m., the ceremony musicians should have been set up and playing songs as our guests trickled in. At 6:40, there was no music. I figured “okay, they’re just a little behind, no big deal.” Wrong. Five minutes before my bridesmaids had to walk, they weren’t even there! I got very overwhelmed and stressed that I would have no music at all. My DJ even offered to step in and save the day. As he got ready, I called Hannah on my personal phone because we had no word from her, even this close to the ceremony. With literal minutes to spare before the ceremony, the musicians arrived.
• On top of being late, they did not play the song we had picked for our unity ritual. Just silence. When the ceremony was over, they didn’t stay to play any postlude songs. They picked up their stuff and literally ran out the door.
• We did get a 75% refund. However, when addressing specific problems, Hannah redirected the blame to our venue coordinator rather than owning what went wrong on her end. According to HCM, our unity ceremony song was not played at the request of our venue coordinator. We have yet to confirm this, but even so, why would you not touch base with the bride or her mother (who paid you) that this is what THEY wanted? Or even just to confirm that the decision was not being relayed by the bride through the coordinator? We were also told the musicians were 30 minutes late due to another wedding running long. If you are booking events so closely that they overlap and asking other customers to sacrifice paid time, you’re doing it wrong.
If you make mistakes, you need to own them. If you cannot deliver on promises you make to paying customers, you need to change. If you have an issue with one avenue of communication, you need to try another. i.e. call the venue instead of just the coordinator, call my aunt’s number (which was listed), or call the person who paid you. There were options.
TL:DR, we paid for an hour, we got 20 disappointing minutes. I am generally laid back and can handle a few mistakes, but I feel like my easygoing nature was taken advantage of. For the unprofessionalism and undue stress it caused on the day of my wedding and the seemingly flippant disregard for their own failings, I would not recommend Harlequin Chamber Music to anyone.
Response from the Vendor on 10/16/2019
Updated with the musicians' statement, 10/16:
" The venue coordinator was made aware of two musicians being delayed, for reasons out of their control. One of our musicians was in direct contact with her until the full ensemble was there.
"Upon...
arriving, we checked in with the venue coordinator to confirm a few details about the flow of the ceremony. We set up and began prelude music began as timely as possible, with no delay to the start of the ceremony. All of the ceremony entrance music (grandparent and parents, bridesmaids and groomsmen, and bridal processional) went exactly as planned.
"During the ceremony, the officiant was not miked, therefore we were concerned about covering his voice with additional music. It was our judgment that playing any music during the Unity Ritual would have completely covered his voice and disrupted the ceremony. This is not an uncommon judgment call to make in our experience.
"At the conclusion of the ceremony, we played several minutes of Recessional music during which all of the guests exited the room. Furthermore, venue staff were already in the midst of transferring chairs out of the ceremony area to the reception and photographers were setting up in our proximity for bridal pictures. This was a clear sign to us that our services had been fulfilled.
"After packing up, we made sure to check in with the venue coordinator to confirm that everything in the ceremony went as planned."
>>>We were very sorry about the regrettable miscommunications which occurred in this one particular ceremony that caused us to fall below our client's expectations. We expressed our thanks to her for helping us identify certain things in our musician protocols which we have since amended, so that we can be better for the future. We also refunded her 75% of her full fee to us. The details listed by the client above unfortunately do not present an accurate representation of the details; please feel free to contact me if you would like more details of the grievances above. All said, we are thankful for the chance to continue to improve anything we can for all our future clients.
Hannah Yim was extremely pleasant to work with. She was always very prompt in responding to emails and questions. The music selection that they offer is very broad and they will even learn music that is not already in their repertoire. My partner and I were married at the Chicory on 2-24-18 and we hired a duo to perform our ceremony music. We chose mostly modern music and some classical. They sounded wonderful! We were very happy that we chose Harlequin for our wedding.
Absolutely perfect! I hired Hannah Ym for both the church music (gorgeous classical pieces performed in a cathedral) AND the reception where they played pop songs as a string quartet. Everyone was blown away by their incredible range and talent. And Hannah was so sweet and patient with all of my questions and she indecision. I LOVED this group. My guests kept asking "is this the same group from the church?!" Everyone loved the covers.
Hannah was a soloists for our outdoor wedding. She added the perfect elegance for our ceremony. The music was beautiful and she was very professional. I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for that elegant touch for any wedding ceremony. Highly Recommended!
Hannah and Harlequin Music made our wedding so beautiful! Hannah was so nice and personable, I just wish I had time to meet her the day of the wedding! They played all of the music we asked for and fit right into our budget. Everyone said it was the most beautiful wedding they had ever been to. Thank you Hannah!
Hannah Yim and Harlequin Chamber music were wonderful! I found them here on The Knot and made contact via their website. Hannah responded promptly with pricing information. They were actually cheaper then the musicians my wedding planner recommended. I love their music selection, from classical to contemporary. I only wish I could have heard them play more!! But what I did hear of my processional?recessional songs were everything I've ever dreamed of. Thank you Hannah!!
The musicians were amazing for my wedding ceremony. Hannah was great to work with and helped me through the music selection process until i was satisfied. I was able to find Harlequin Chamber music through a review as well on this site. I will like to add they are reasonably priced.
These musicians were perfection. They can do it all! Hannah was great to correspond with - always so prompt and helpful. They arrived early to setup and played pop and traditional music. I had so many compliments. It was one of my most favorite memories of our wedding in New Orleans. If you go with anyone else, you're making a mistake!
Hannah was very easy to work with and even allowed us to pick custom songs not on their playlist (Fools Rush In, Going to the Chapel). They were professional, classy, and their music added so much to our ceremony! Highly recommend!
Hannah was amazing to coordinate with! She is so organized and responds to emails extremely fast! Also, since the processional we chose was not traditional, she offered to arrange it for us at no additional cost! We found this to be extremely generous and were so happy with the outcome! Our entire ceremony sounded beautiful with a string trio! We will use them again in the future for sure!
Hannah was the consummate professional!
After speaking with her for just a few minutes, we had no worries as to music for our reception.
Hannah and the rest of the trio we hired were onsite early and ready with the requested music.
A very elegant choice for any event.
Thank you, again, for your participation in this special day!
Hannah was wonderful and incredibly helpful in helping us plan the music for our ceremony. I was apprehensive about booking remotely (we had a destination wedding) and only being able to sample the music via mp3s, but they were on time, very professional and the music was absolutely beautiful. Additionally, they were one of the less expensive groups we spoke with. I highly recommend!!!
Music was perhaps the most important aspect of our wedding and Hannah and her colleagues delivered on every level. She worked closely with us to ensure our music reflected our personal tastes and vision. We chose some new arrangements of pop classics plus a few from the group's existing repertoire. We were not disappointed. The music was beautiful, exactly what we envisioned. I strongly recommend Harlequin Chamber Music!!
Hannah was so easy to work with and played beautifully. She showed up on time the day of the wedding and always responded promptly to my questions. I really didn't have any songs in mind for the ceremony and she was a huge help in picking out the perfect songs for our wedding.
I had asked for some of the songs to by custom and Hannah made those songs possible. The music was beautiful it really set the mood for our ceremony. Thank you so much for the beautiful music at our ceremony.
