About this vendor
Harper Pictures is a wedding photographer based in Kingston, NY. Harper has been a wedding photographer since 2019, a dream job she feels honored to have. She specializes in natural, candid, colorful, free-spirited and artistic documentation that aims to capture and reflect the true energy of the people you love.
Harper has always had a passion for being behind the camera. In high school, she was the friend who remembered to take pictures and often carried a disposable camera with her. She was also fascinated by dad's old film camera. After a friend had a last-minute photography cancellation, Harper stepped in, and has been capturing weddings ever since.
Ahead of your big day, Harper Pictures would be delighted to chat with you and discuss your vision. Harper will collaborate with you throughout the process to ensure that your pictures are the timeless and beautiful portraits you hoped they would be. Services include high-resolution digital images, the option for a second shooter, multiple locations throughout the day, and more.

We don't think anyone could have captured the emotion and atmosphere of our wedding (and our engagement) better than Harper did. She is so talented with an amazing eye for framing ...
and capturing moments. Her film photography has an authentic quality and retro-yet-contemporary feel that makes our wedding photos feel truly timeless. Throughout the busy and somewhat stressful day, she was such a lovely and calming presence along with her team. We still cannot believe how amazing our photos turned out. We love each photo Harper delivered and highly recommend her!
We hired Harper because we loved her documentary style. We didn’t want staged poses — we wanted someone who could anticipate real moments. Some of her photos are beautiful. But ove...
rall, the experience was a disappointment.
We provided a written list of our most important people. We talked through priorities multiple times. We trusted that, even without doing formal portraits, she would track those relationships throughout the day. She didn’t.
There are no solo photos of me with my mom or dad. None of my husband with his dad, and only one with his mom. We have a couple group shots taken in one setting, and that’s it. These aren’t “extra” shots — they were spelled out in writing ahead of time.
There was zero guidance when we needed it. I told Harper that my friends had never been bridesmaids and we would need direction during getting-ready photos. Instead, she was visibly short with us, and one of my bridesmaids (who is a photographer) had to step in to direct while Harper just watched.
Basic details were missed.
The biggest one: my husband wore sunglasses during our first look and Harper said nothing. I couldn’t even see his face in the moment that mattered most. A professional should never let that slide.
Documentary style should still involve awareness. It should mean noticing when something is missing and fixing it. Without direction and without a second shooter, a lot of important moments simply never happened.
After the wedding, I asked about missing shots. Harper suddenly produced a handful of additional images — and they were some of the best ones. Which makes me wonder what else was withheld.
A year later, I reached out one last time, clearly and respectfully. No response. Like what the hell do those photos mean to her when they mean the world to me? It’s all about her artistic integrity— but nearly 2 years later I’m need yearning for those photos.
Here’s the bottom line:
If you care about specific people being photographed, even if you put it in writing, this approach isn’t enough. If you need any direction at all, you won’t get it. If you think documentary style means “she’ll just catch the important stuff,” she won’t.
Some of my favorite photos from my wedding day came from guests’ phones. That says everything.
I’m grateful for the images we do have — but I regret trusting that “documentary” would mean present, proactive, and attentive. It didn’t. She’ll capture gorgeous little gems of the evening— but that only matters if the other moments are captured, too. If you’re considering hiring Harper, decide how much risk you’re willing to take.
Harper was so easy to work with and has a great photography style. She understood that we wanted a more laid back style of photography for our wedding, but still have some nice for...
mal family group shots. I am so glad we found her as we wanted to avoid the stuffy, prom-ish wedding photos we se all the time. Her photography style went so well with our venue style and decor too. She even sent us a few photos to post the very next morning after our wedding! It was so nice to immediately have something to look at! Definitely recommend!!

e looking for. Her photos truly captured the essence of the day. She captured so many intimate moments despite everything that was happening that day. Harper also was able to take some shots on film that added a really artistic touch. We can’t recommend Harper enough!
When planning our wedding, my now husband and I of course wanted super special photos from our special day but we also wanted photos that felt like "us" and weren't super posed and...
/or traditional. I stumbled upon Harper Pictures on Instagram and from our first phone call, was so excited to work with her! From the beginning, she really listened to and embraced our vision and she absolutely made it come to life. She is so talented and also so warm and thoughtful.
During the wedding, Harper moved around with such ease and all our guests commented how comfortable they felt as they didn't even realize they were having their photo taken! She captured such special candid moments and also really fun, easygoing portraits of my husband and I together and with our families. We are so thrilled with how the photos came out and will cherish them forever!

the natural candid shots, each and every photo is incredible. I am so grateful for Harper and will recommend her services to anyone asking for a photographer for an event.
Harper was an absolute pleasure to work with. She perfectly captured the essence of our entire day- from the church, to dinner, and dancing afterwards. Our photos outside on the mo...
untain were stunning and beyond what I could have ever dreamed of. We’ll cherish the pictures forever. Not only were the pictures themselves beautiful, but Harper was so lovely! My husband and I actually accidentally got stranded at our church after the wedding ceremony and Harper was quick to offer a ride back to our venue — and even had a love song playlist ready for the occasion:) We had an intimate dinner that I thought would be hard to capture without people feeling like they were in front of the camera the whole time- but that was very much not the case. Harper blended into the background capturing lovely moments, toasts, whispers, and hugs. The kids at the wedding loved her too! We highly recommend Harper for your special day. So professional, lovely, and kind.

se with her! Our engagement photos were so beautiful that all our friends and family were excited that Harper would be back to shoot the wedding. During the first look, couple, and family photos, she made great use of the location and had lots of suggestions for us and our family. And then during the wedding, Harper was so kind, helpful, and mindful of us the whole time. When we received our sneak peek album, we couldn’t believe how many different shots she got of moments during the event- she was everywhere all the time, getting different angles of us and our guests during our ceremony, first dance, and conversations with friends and family all throughout the evening. Harper has a knack for being where the action is; she got so many spontaneous moments, as well as the reactions from our guests. We loved her authentic and natural aesthetic as well as attention to all the little details. We had a great experience working with Harper through the planning process, too: she was organized and thoughtful and really understood our vibe and vision for the day. We can’t recommend her enough!
