The mansion’s outdoor event spaces include the Terrace and Grand Pavilion, Formal Garden, and Front Lawn.
Hartwood is a popular destination among Allegheny County residents. Encompassing more than 600 acres in Hampton and Indiana townships, the park presents free concerts on Sunday summer evenings. Other amenities include mansion tours, teas, an off-leash dog area, and cross-country skiing, walking, hiking, and bridle trails. The recently-renovated sculpture garden at Hartwood features ADA-accessible walkways, new native landscape plantings, and reconfigured driveways and parking areas, all using principles of green design.

Could not have been happier with our choice to book Hartwood Acres Mansion for our May 2026 wedding. We got incredibly lucky with gorgeous mid 70s and sunny weather. Of course, an ...
outdoor venue in Pittsburgh can be a little risky. They do have a spacious and beautiful glass pavilion and also offer a white tent to use in the event of rain, which you have to decide 3 days prior to the wedding. You are also able to bring in outside vendors with additional tents (as long as they are within the county's requirements) which is what we ended up doing, in case of rain so that we could utilize more of the grounds covered if it rained. Leading up to the wedding, their team was helpful with answering our questions, there was sometimes a bit of delay with responses, but they were also in a transition period with some staff members, so we understood. Otherwise, we found the venue overall easy to work with. We saw a lot of reviews regarding issues with sound ordinances and such, but they seem to have managed a system that minimizes those disruptions to surrounding areas and we have no issues with that during our wedding. We also appreciated being able to choose our own vendors to bring in. My favorite part about this venue is how flexible everything is. You can truly do so much with the space and customize it for what your vibe is. On the day of the wedding, the county's staff were incredibly helpful and proactive, keeping the space clean and safe for our guests. There was plenty of parking available, with adequate signage to help direct guests appropriately. We've heard nothing but good reviews from our guests about how much they loved the space. We are so excited to have such lovely photos to look back on forever as well. If you are interested in this venue, I would suggest scheduling a tour and making sure to start planning prior to the 18-month cutoff mark, as the preferred dates tend to get snatched up fast! Not surprising, as this venue is absolutely stunning and SO worth booking!
