Geoff began his career as a professional DJ in 1994. After gaining valuable experience from other DJ event companies, Geoff opened Hats Off in 2000. e quick responses to questions via email and had us fill out a Google Form to put together our reception timeline and request songs for the important reception events. As the wedding date got closer, we had a final phone conversation where we explained our overall vision for the music to Geoff, and he even practiced how to say our wedding party’s names with us. He truly cared about making sure he was the perfect announcer!
Also, Geoff took the time to curate playlists ahead of time for the cocktail hour, dinner hour, and dance floor based on our personal preferences. He could download any song we wanted, even one for a special Irish folk dance that my family typically does at weddings. This was very important to me! When I needed to make a last-minute change to how he would announce one of our timeline events, I emailed him the week of the wedding. Geoff replied right away and said it would not be a problem!
On the wedding day, Geoff was the true master of ceremonies. He kept the evening moving smoothly and made announcements with confidence, allowing everyone to enjoy the moment. Guests danced all night, which showed Geoff’s ability to read the crowd and move between genres, ensuring everyone had a great time. For example, the beginning of the night featured songs from older decades that pleased the entire multigenerational crowd, while modern club songs were played towards the end of the night when the younger guests were dominating the dance floor. Guests complimented how much fun they had and how good the music was. Most of our guests stayed until the reception ended because they were having such a great time!
Geoff went above and beyond to make the wedding day perfect. He even coordinated with our photographers to make sure we were able to take pictures with each table of guests and with some extended family groups we were unable to get pictures with after the ceremony. He also asked for alumni from the high schools my husband and I attended to come up and take a photo with us, which meant a lot to both my husband and myself.

ps the fault was with our crowd and not entirely the DJ. I'm also giving 3 stars because I sence he may have been trying to please the older guests, but in doing so he sacrificed the reception we wanted. We made a very specific short list of song requests. We even gave suggestions on which ones to play at dinner as to leave room for more options during the dance portion of the night, and our DJ didn't play even half of OUR requests. He also played a song on our do not play list. Overall the music he chose was very out of date, almost nothing from the past 5 or so years. He played A lOT of oldies music, even adding another one on AFTER playing our specific "last song". Our wedding reception felt dated and out of touch. Our list of requests wasn't huge, we narrowed it down quite a bit when we sent it again after our meeting before the wedding. You get one night to celebrate your wedding, you get countless chances to be a guest, we just would have liked to have heard more of the songs we requested as well as more recent music. A word of advice, guests aren't going to take the time to review, a bride and groom will.

pretty packed most of the night. My only wish was that he would've played some of our "must play" songs a little earlier on. This is only bc some of the guests who would've wanted to hear those songs were no longer at the event when they were played. That, though, is something small, and overall I think he did a great job. I would highly recommend this vendor!

I thought they did an excellent job overall of deejaying our wedding. They listened to us, and it was a nice mix of music.
Me and my husband LOVED planning our reception with Geoff Cox, owner. Actually, it was the most reassuring thing and set my mind at ease about the whole day. He played songs for us...
and we made decisions about what order things would be in with his advice. He even took the time to phonetically spell out each of our bridal party member's names so the DJ could say them correctly.
As soon as the bridal party got to the reception he immediately met us upstairs and introduced himself and laid out the game plan - YAY, the bride & groom got to enjoy themselves because someone else was in charge.
Throughout the night he played music to make people dance and we even had an impromptu sing-off of Summer Nights with most of our guests! We originally weren't going to put the garter back on the woman who caught the bouquet but when we realized it was my G-ma and my Brother-in-law (the funniest AND most go-with-the-flow people I know) we ran to him and said we wanted to do it. He quickly picked a song and instructed my grandmother to sit down. EVERYONE LOVED IT! I believe the reception even went a little longer because everyone was having a great time. Overall, such a great experience and a decent price comparatively speaking.
My only complaint would have to be that my DJ played "Sweet Caroline" during dinner... We have some rowdy friends so it kind of interrupted the seriousness of the dinner part of the night.
My favorite part of booking with them was a CD that had recorded versions of the speeches that happened at my wedding. I got to relive their wonderful words a week after my honeymoon without being overwhelmed by the chaos of the wedding and immediate loved every minute of their speeches all over again. I am VERY grateful for this added touch.

r and stuck to our do not play list. I do have 2.5 complaints. One – he played the wrong ceremony music so I walked down the aisle to a random nontraditional song when I had selected Cannon in D. He had the information for the next day’s wedding ceremony out in front of him instead of our information. He did however offer us a refund right away and we received a check in the mail the next week. So I do thank him for that. My half a complaint is that when we discussed doing an anniversary dance I mentioned my grandparents have been married for 65 years. I emailed him a week before to say that I now didn’t want him to recognize my grandparents at the end of the dance since my grandpa wasn’t going to be able to attend due to health issues. He did make the announcement. I went back and reread my email and I guess I could have been clearer in my instructions so that’s why it’s only half a complaint. My last complaint won’t be pertinent to everyone. We were married at Springlake Party Center and Hat’s Off is the DJ service they recommend, so they do many weddings at that venue. The place has great lighting behind and in front of the head table which photographs very well. He gathered up the bridal party before our first dance because they were going to come out on the dance floor about 2/3 of the way through our song. He had them line up in front of the head table – covering all the lighting. So in all of our pictures of our first dance there’s a line of people behind us instead of the great lights. That was extremely disappointing. I’ve seen pictures of other weddings at this venue and those were my favorite pictures. I guess I’m thinking that he should’ve realized that people shouldn’t line up in front of the lights but instead have them off to the side. I wish I would’ve thought about it because we now missed out on potentially great pictures, but you have so many things going on at your reception you just don’t think of everything.

Our first meeting was with Geoff the owner of Hats off Entertainment, my husband liked him so much that when we walked out the first thing he said to me was "do we have to meet the others". Before the wedding Geoff was really great about walking through picking songs and setting up our timeline. The night of the wedding he kept everything running, and did everything and more we had asked of him. The week after our wedding, we got a wonderful gift in the mail. Without us knowing it Geoff had recorded different parts of the wedding including our first song, our bridal dance, and the speeches given and gave it to us as a gift. He was very easy to work with, and you could tell he just wanted to make your wedding your perfect day...and he did! I would not only use him again, but have already started telling my friends 2!

We heard nothing but good things about this DJ company, so we decided to go with them. We absolutely loved our personal DJ (the DJ who actually worked at our wedding) but we weren...

We supplied the DJ with a list of must play songs for our wedding. About halfway through our reception we started to get upset because we weren't hearing any of our songs! We mentioned this to the DJ several times and he said he was trying his best to stick to the list he had from his boss. We find out, with 1.5hours left of our reception, that his boss had given him the wrong list! Ahhh nightmare!!! Luckily, thanks to our best man, we were able to e-mail our personal DJ the list we originally sent to his boss.
A couple days after our reception we brought this issue up with our DJ's boss. He responded by putting the blame on us for him not being able to open the attachment. Keep in mind we weren't told he couldn't open it until this moment (oh and how did our personal DJ even have a list then!?). It was like pulling teeth to get them to compensate us not even a fourth of what we paid. Be very careful if you decide to book with this DJ.

un while he kept us in line. He played great music and knew what songs to play when; and when to speed things up after the older people went home. Geoff was great to work with and really helped us to organize the flow of the reception. He knew what questions to ask and gave us advice on how to handle certain situations. They were amazing and I loved working with them. I would definitely use them again and definitely recommend them.

We followed his ideas and it was great. He also was so flexible with incorporating our ideas (greek dancing, special music). We were also blown away at the set up with all the lights and effects. He would check on us, make sure we were happy with the way things were going, even bring us drinks! And when my dress go caught on an LED light that was uplighting our head table backdrop and messed up the colors... he was even able to fix that :)
