Haute Cakes Pastry Shop

I was drawn to Haute Caked because of their proximity to our venue and their diverse dessert offerings. My fiancé and I didn’t want a traditional wedding cake, so we were thrilled when Haute Cakes already had a dessert bar alternative and didn’t require us to create a specialized, custom package from scratch. Haute Cakes had a lot of different options to choose from and such a wide selection of flavors for any season or vibe. I do have a few minor critiques, but by no means should deter anyone from working with them. I booked Haute Cakes in February 2023 for our October 2023 wedding. When I originally reached out for information through their website’s contact form, it took a couple days to receive an email with basic information about tastings and the booking process. I had some additional questions I wanted answered before moving forward so I called the number provided for Megan, Haute Cakes’ owner and left a message. I never received a call back. No worries, I’m persistent and resourceful. I ultimately chose not to do the dessert bar tasting box. I thought $90 was a bit steep and after not getting ahold of anyone to confirm whether I could customize a dessert bar tasting box, I decided to wing it. I decided to visit their storefront and was pleasantly surprised that a lot of what we wanted was offered a la carte. I also asked the cashier working that morning if Megan was available and got some insight as to why she hadn’t responded to my voicemail (email is her preferred method of communication). The desserts were yummy so we decided to move forward. I reached out via email again and Megan responded promptly. We had an informative call and shortly after was given a proposal that reflected everything we discussed. Unfortunately this stage of the process happened at the same time I was extremely busy with work, so after paying the deposit, I was delayed in returning a signed contract. When I had, it took about a week and two follow up emails to confirm we were booked. Fast forward to July, I reached out to inquire about flavors/designs. It again took about a week or so to get a response from Megan. Once she responded, all subsequent communications were regular and prompt. She was very accommodating to specific macaron flavors and coordinating with our color palette. Megan provided specific and comprehensive answers to questions, which made the decision making process seamless and pleasant. The only other minor thing was that there was a misunderstanding about the inclusion of a single tier cutting cake on our contract. Megan reached out informing us there was a “mistake” on the invoice and we weren’t being charged for this cake and she would be updating the balance remaining. However, we had requested that cake be removed back when we initially signed the contract. I reminded her and problem solved. I included all of this to give a realistic depiction of our interactions throughout the process, but overall we had a great experience with them. I understand that Megan and Haute Cakes juggle a ton of moving parts and are probably working on many events at any given time, so I’m not turned off about the somewhat delayed correspondence months before my wedding. After that, all interactions were super easy. We rented displays from them at a reasonable cost and delivery was timely and uneventful. Our guests raved about the desserts. Megan and team brought our sweet treat dreams to life. Definitely recommend using them (we will again)!
