Our wedding at the Hawaii Polo Club was perfection! My husband and I booked this venue prior to seeing in person as this was a destination wedding. We were married on the beach and even though the heavy rains washed out some of the sand I hardly noticed on the day of and not at all in our pictures. Even though they do not have a space to get ready in, the clubhouse worked perfectly for me to get my dress on and take getting ready pictures with all of my 7 bridesmaids and mother in the clubhouse. Sugako, our day of coordinator was amazing and made sure everything went smoothly from start to finish. She was very communicative throughout the planning and any time I had questions or needed help deciding on something she was there to help guide and give suggestions. Jamie was our bartender and was so friendly and helpful. My husband and I as well as our guests were captivated by the natural beauty of the Hawaii Polo Club. Overall 10/10 for our experience with the venue and their recommended vendors.
This venue was beautiful and we were so happy we decided to have our wedding here. One of the best parts about Hawaii Polo Club is that it includes a stage, a bar front, tables and a tent. Having this all included, rather than renting it out helped to save quite a bit of money. Although we had a lawn reception, our wedding was in February, so it gave us peace of mind to know there would be a tent in the case that it rained. Sugako, the venue coordinator was awesome and was very helpful. I attempted to do a DIY ceremony arch, and of course it was not turning out how I had hoped. I reached out to Sugako to see if there was any chance I could rent one of their arches at 10pm the night before the wedding. She quickly responded and made sure I had the arch all set up in time. Everything turned out beautiful!
Our wedding at the Hawaii Polo Club was an absolute dream. The setting, right on the beach, was nothing short of paradise. The natural beauty of the location made our day incredibly special.
The Hawaii Polo Club staff was fantastic. They worked closely with us to ensure everything went smoothly.
Our beachfront ceremony was intimate and romantic, with the sound of the waves adding to the magic. Our guests were captivated by the stunning setting, and it made our day truly unforgettable.
If you're searching for a venue with natural beauty and a beachfront atmosphere, the Hawaii Polo Club is the perfect choice. The Hawaii Polo Club, was everything we had hoped for. We are grateful for the beautiful memories created at this incredible.
We had our wedding at the Hawaii Polo Club this past July and it was an amazing experience! The venue was absolutely beautiful - it’s very special to be able to have the ceremony directly on a secluded beach and have the reception on a gorgeous grassy field in full view of beautiful Mount Ka’ala and the beach. It was exactly the countryside wedding venue that we wanted, but still accessible to guests staying on the South side.
Everyone working at the Polo Field and helping us get set up were welcoming and friendly. Sugako, the Venue Coordinator, was so helpful and very reliable - she gave us great advice and made sure that we were all on the same page about the event so that it could run as smoothly as possible.
The Polo Field is also able to provide a number of things for the wedding like the round tables, chairs for ceremony and reception, existing tents, and have a number of things that can be rented like tiki torches, lighting, lawn games, etc. so this made the planning process that much easier!
We couldn’t recommend this venue more - we had a wonderful wedding day and smooth wedding planning experience working with the Polo Field and Sugako!
beautiful venue with the only beach access adjacent to the beautiful grassy field. Polo Field coordinator Sugako was the efficient and responsive and was the reason the whole wedding day went so smoothly. It was perfect
Right off the bat, I could easily say that my wedding at Hawaii Polo Club was phenomenal! The venue coordinator Sugako was one of the best people I had worked with for the wedding. Her response time was quick and she was always able to answer any random questions I threw at her, which really helped the planning process. She was very sweet, accommodating and willing to work with any ideas I had. I contacted her in March of 2022 and had my wedding in June 2023 and she followed through with me every step of the way. I was initially really stressed out about planning a destination wedding, but she was able to give me resources and a list of vendors she recommended which gave me a great place to start. She really helped make my dream wedding come true!
As for the venue itself, it was absolutely perfect! I would describe it as easy-breezy, laid back, countryside beach vibes. If you're looking for something casual but breathtaking this is THE one! I don't take that statement lightly because I was very thorough in my venue research for about 6 months before I committed. I stumbled upon Hawaii Polo Club through a simple google search of venues where I inquired and compared amongst many others. I was very specific about wanting a beach (on the sand) wedding for my ceremony which this place offers (you also have the option to go on the lawn if you're not into that). This venue checked off many boxes for me in what I was looking for as far as views and bang for my buck. I was able to have a beach wedding with decorations and seating right there on the sand without needing a beach permit because it's their own private beach. I also found that they had many other things included or available to rent right there on their location. Unlike other places, they had round tables provided as well as chairs, a tent over the reception space, bar stools and bar tables, a bar stand, extra tables for decorations, a dance floor and many other things you wouldn't think you would need to worry about. I was able to rent additional things like tiki torches, twinkly lights for the reception space, lawn games (that were super fun during cocktail hour), but best of all the horse rental. This was another thing that sold me on the venue. I was able to rent out a horse for 2 hours and I had her incorporated in a few parts of my wedding which was SUPER cool! I had the idea of walking up to the aisle with Clara the horse and it was such an entrance. I also was able to have her in some of our couple portrait shots which were beautiful. After our photos she went to the cocktail hour where all the guests were and everyone loved taking photos with her. The photos were just beautiful, besides it being Oahu, it was so cool to be able to get such a variety of backgrounds in our photos. Not only did we get beach shots, we also had grassy forest type shots, ones on the polo lawn, or even at the clubhouse with the mountains in the back. Not one bad photo!
Overall my husband and I are beyond happy with our experience and loved every minute of our wedding and even our guests told us it was the best wedding they have ever been to, which was a bonus!
Hawaii Polo Club was an absolute dream venue! You have a beautiful, untouched beach for an ocean front reception. Great staff that's a breeze to work with. Gorgeous green grounds and tons of open space. We had the perfect wedding day here!
HPC was truly the perfect venue for our wedding. We were able to have everything all in one place, the scenery is amazing, and the whole team made everything so smooth for us! We could not have chosen a better venue if we had tried - HPC is the place to get married!
Hawaii Polo Club is the most peaceful beautiful venue. On the quiet side of the North shore. Open land & of course beautiful soft sandy beach. I particularly loved the pure nature of the venue. This is a hidden gem. We had the best coordinator from Bliss Bridal Sugako Johnson that made everything perfect!
From the start trying to plan a destination wedding, Hawaii polo club and Sugako were amazing with communication. Anytime we had questions they had prompt and helpful responses including pictures as needed to vision the space. The rehearsal time and wedding were perfect, having the beach for ceremony and then being able to walk right back up across the polo field for reception was perfect. The included tent and space was perfect for our dinner setting. The bathrooms were clean and easy to access. The clubhouse was perfect for last minute touch ups and getting ready in. Overall I have zero complaints about this venue and would get married there again anyday!
Amazing venue, great staff and affordable price for out LGBTQ wedding. Hard to find those three things in Hawaii but you will find them at the HPC. Our wedding went so well and the HPC venue and staff (Jamie) did such an amazing job. Highly recommend this venue to anyone. The entire process felt like I had a good friend helping me plan our wedding. I did not feel like just another event at their place, they truly care. The ocean, beach, lush green mountains, white tents, large grass fields and tiki torches make it honestly one of the most naturally beautiful wedding venues around.
I grew up on Oahu, and wanted to have our wedding here so we could include my family and give our mainland friends a chance to visit. My husband wanted a beachside ceremony, and we settled on Hawaii Polo Club. There are many positives to having your wedding at HPC, but there are also many changeable x-factors that necessitate being adaptable and rolling with the punches.
LOCATION
I love that HPC is way out on the northshore--the location affords some privacy and enforces a secluded and special feel. Every part of the grounds are a good photo op! It may be tough for elderly or townside relatives to make the commute, but not impossible. Also note that traffic on Kam Highway during surfing season can be another obstacle. Our out of town guests loved the venue!
If you use the address provided on the website, this actually routes guests further down the field, where the horseback riding is conducted. Many guests had to make a U-turn after realizing they passed the venue. Make sure to provide signs so it’s obvious where the wedding is taking place!
Weather can be changeable. It was torrentially pouring at 11am the day of our wedding. By 1pm the sun had come out, and by our 4pm start time the ground was dry, there was sunshine, and just enough cloud coverage the sun wasn’t unbearable.
Wind factor: Personally, the breeze was a major selling point. It stops mosquitos and bugs from landing, and provides a nice cooling breeze. BUT it can start to play a little bit of havoc with hair and fake eyelashes, and it may be hard for guests to hear during the ceremony. We used a small portable speaker set up our wedding musician provided for both his acoustic guitar, and for us and our officiant. It worked great!
Beach: all Hawaii beaches are public access, so there’s no guarantee there won’t be people on the beach enjoying themselves during your ceremony. 99.9% of the time people will be respectful. This beach can also change depending on the weather. Be flexible; it will still be a very picturesque beach no matter what.
LOGISTICS
This is a working polo field, so they have STRICT RULES about set up and clean up. You can’t set up tents that poke holes in the field, you need to rent plates and water barrels instead. You are also required to purchase insurance for the venue. This is an example of costs we didn’t account for, and they can start to inflate the wedding budget if you’re not aware of it.
Plenty of parking for the guests!
The venue provides a ton of tables for free and will also set these up! This is a HUGE benefit! There are also chairs and additional lighting available to rent, as well as lounge furniture and lawn games.
The bathrooms are also clean and air conditioned, and they were able to provide a separate bathroom for handicapped guests since the usual bathrooms have stairs. The handicap bathroom is a normal porta potty variant.
There really isn’t a facility to change and prep. We ended up renting a beach house nearby.
COMMUNICATION AND PERSONNEL
Jamie is an EXCELLENT point person. She is always available through email, and responds promptly and clearly. She also went out of her way to make herself available when my parents and I kept wanting to visit and make plans. It’s obvious she knows the ins and outs of her job very well, and can answer questions about the beach and polo field both. She is warm, gracious and very, very competent! No complaints at all about working with Jamie and the polo field staff. We loved her!
We planned for a year and found this location early on. It suited our desire to get married with our feet in the sand, close to the ocean. We also wanted an open space reception at the same location as the ceremony. Communicating with the polo club was easy and responses were fast. All communication took place via email, which made documentation and referencing easy. Jamie, the facility contact, was professional, warm, kind, helpful and went above and beyond at various times to meet our needs and answer our questions. Our ceremony and reception were very intimate and this location suited our tastes and style. There are many things that stand out that I wish I had thought of or knew before booking this location. I give them all to you!
Pros:
-Beautiful outdoor venue
-A large variety and quantity of tables are available for free! We had 16 - 60' rounds, our sweetheart table, a table for the gifts, DJ, buffet line, and games - again, free!
-A large 40'X30' white tent is always set up and was the area where we had the reception tables set up - free!
-grill on site that our caterer used
-lots of open beautiful spaces for photos
-chairs available for rent
-lights for the tent and over the dance floor available for rent
-all items rented from the HPC are set up by their staff
-nice outhouses with AC, very clean
-ability for a few cars to drive around the field to the ceremony site if yours is on the beach, this made the bride reveal more special and was helpful for the one handicapped guest we had.
Overall, if you're on a budget this is a great option.
As you read the cons, please know that this was in fact the most beautiful and love filled day of my life, regardless of the issues we faced. No matter what, keeping the energy strong between my husband and I was what made it so, not necessarily the venue.
Cons:
-depending on the time of year, the polo club allows advertisers to set up semi-permanent tents. When we visited a year prior, the tent was white and the logo was not noticeable. This was not bothersome and actually a nice offering, my idea was to have the games under here. I was told that no matter what, the tents stay up. So, when we arrived the day before the ceremony for our rehearsal I had to completely ignore and swallow the eye sore of tents that were up this year. There was an all red and all black tent with giant logos right next to the dance floor. The whole reception, I had to consciously block these out.
-WIND. This is one of the windiest locations on island. On our big day, it was whipping. We could not hear the musician, most guests could not hear any of the ceremony.
**Beware fake eyelashes, I had to look down the whole ceremony to avoid them ripping off in fear that it would stick to my forehead for all the photos. Sad I couldn't look into my guys eyes. Friends also reported being unhappy they almost lost their expensive lashes.
-no electrical available near the beach site, running an extension across the huge field was not an option.
-if you get married on the beach, be prepared to change your positioning and ceremony location all the way until the day before. As the seasons and tides change, so does the beach landscape.
-we were told that the whole venue was ours. As my new husband and I made our way across the field, we were yielded by a polo player chasing a rogue ball on his horse. This deeply upset my husband.
-no where to get ready on site
I hope this is helpful to you in your search!
We are so happy we came across this venue and decided to celebrate our special day there! This venue was exactly what we were looking for, a naturally beautiful space which provided us a template to create the wedding of our dreams. We loved that we were able to decorate the area ourselves, bring in our own vendors and be off the beaten path. We loved working with Jamie! She was so understanding and accommodating - we feel she would have done anything our heart desired! We would definitely recommend this location to future couples!!
The moment I saw the Hawaii Polo Club, I knew I had found my wedding venue. It was a priority of ours to have an oceanside wedding, especially since a lot of our guests were from out of town. The Polo Club is the perfect venue and you really get so much out of the rental fee! In addition to the beautiful space, they also have a lot of equipment that is free to use including an existing tent, tables, and chairs. That alone saved us thousands of dollars! We opted not to have a tent so our guests could dine under the stars, and that was amazing. Waialua is far from the city lights and the stars shone so brightly. We constantly saw our guests looking up to admire the stars throughout the night.
From the beginning, Jamie the coordinator was so amazing. She is seriously the nicest and most responsive person on the planet. I would email her at midnight and she would respond right away! I felt like we were friends by the end of the planning process because we had so many late night email conversations haha! I had one of those DIY-everything weddings, which meant there were a lot of moving pieces, but Jamie was super helpful and supportive throughout the process. She always made sure that I was comfortable and taken care of, and really helped to make my wedding stress-free!
Last but not least, the Polo Club has horses available that you can book by the hour for photos. This was THE highlight of our wedding. All of our guests loved the horse and my Facebook newsfeed was literally full of photos of our guests with the horse! Parents with young children were thanking me because their kids were so happy getting to pet a horse. Even people who didn't come to the wedding messaged me and said, "oh my goodness, you had a horse at your wedding?! That's so cool!" So yes, get married at the Hawaii Polo Club, be best friends with Jamie, and don't forget the horse.
HPC was the best decision for our intimate beach wedding ever! Jamie and her team are professional, accommodating, friendly and easy to work with! We felt at ease and peaceful knowing they would work your vision and dream successfully. They provided us with everything we ever needed and more! She is quick and always accessible via email. She was so clear since our very first email. She is informative and helpful. There is no hidden fee or cost. The price is affordable and reasonable. The ride from town was not bad at all. The set up was on time correctly. Jamie made sure we had everything we needed on the day of. She will be with you at every step. There were plenty outlets for you to use. There is a small clubhouse without A/C but it is always breezy where there is a kitchen equipped with kitchen appliances if you needed for catering staging, storing and preparing food, bar, etc. There are some couches and coffee tables in the clubhouse. My bridesmaids and I had our hair and make up done and got ready there. It was convenience for me because I could still monitor and answer questions from my wedding coordinators. We used the iron wood grill for our S'mores! The bar was big enough. Did I mention there is a huge space for parking?! Maybe for 100+ cars!! There are plenty garbage bins and bags for you to use. There are more than enough tables available which is A HUGE RELIEF! so you don't have to bring your own or rent out. Since we catered our own food and dessert, those details are very important to us. HPC is purely beautiful. Our guests enjoyed taking pictures around the area. We had a ceremony on the private Waialua beach. That was absolutely my beach wedding dream came true. I even walked down the aisle with my puppy! It was so beautiful. The rainbow even blessed us! That day was windy but we couldn't be more happy with the gorgeous weather, no rain! We also enjoyed seeing horses walking and practicing around the field which is fascinating for everyone. I told my freshly married husband that I already wanted to do it all over again at HPC! LOL, that's how much I loved having a party there! We only have good things to say about HPC. I recommend Hawaii Polo Club to everyone. You will be happy and satisfied 100%. Thank you so much Jamie and HPC ! We truly appreciate it from the bottom of our hearts! Mahalo!

HPC is the best choice for an untouched beach, gorgeous ocean and green field view of a true outdoor wedding on Oahu. My husband and I wanted ceremony ON the beach without tourists gawking at us or half-naked sunbathing behind us. Other locations we saw offered ceremony NEAR the beach but we wanted dig our toes in the sand. We found HPC by chance and we couldn't be happier. Jamie who is HPC's venue coordinator was so professional, friendly, and responsive. No other vendors we dealt with for our Hawaii wedding could compare to how she helped to make our day happen. We wish she was our wedding coordinator for the day! HPC offers options from lighting to some decor to make your day special. Our wedding was one of a kind incorporating the natural beauty and seclusion the North Shore has to offer. While you'll have to do a little more work in terms of finding your own catering/cake/flowers/music/linens, but if you are like me, not a fan of conventional and cookie-cutter packages, HPC is definitely worth looking into.
We had an splendid experience at Hawaii Polo Club! The staff (specially Jamie) were very responsive, friendly, and cooperative. The venue is amazing, you have the beach, a vast green area (Polo Club), and beautiful view to the mountain. My wife and i really enjoyed our experience and definitely recommend Hawaii Polo Club to our friends and family.
An excellent experience - we actually worked with two coordinators here, and Jamie seamlessly took over Becca's position. She was helpful ahead of time in providing me with photos of the rentals they offered, sending me information on new rentals they'd acquired, and offering great advice at the rehearsal to ensure everything was set up the best way possible.
The location itself is immeasurably beautiful and needs to be seen in person. We actually chose it because we very much wanted to have our wedding on North Shore, we wanted a venue with a beach wedding ceremony location and a reception off the beach, and one that would allow us our own caterer. After visiting the spot, there was no question, this was our first choice.
Despite getting a bit of a shower on both our rehearsal and our wedding day, we had the most beautiful photos, a nice and breezy location, and what felt like a much more unique wedding due to the location.
Let me start off by saying this venue is gorgeous! We looked at many venues and we were sold by being able to have the ceremony on the beach here. Christine and Becca were both easy to work with and always available. They had just the right amount of "extras" to rent for us (we had a smaller 60 person wedding), but the reason I took off one star is if you are having a larger wedding you will need to rent A LOT of your own things. There is no coordinator available through the venue, so you would have to hire someone outside of that. But for us, we had everything we needed and LOVED the venue! It is absolutely gorgeous.
We had our wedding there this past July and were really happy with the venue. We originally chose it because we could bring our own liquor, but there were a lot of other reasons we loved it in the end. It was a pleasure working with Christie. She was quick with her responses, very helpful, and really easy to work with. We didn't have a chance to visit the venue before we booked it but we are so glad we picked it. We had a private beach ceremony and an outdoor reception by their clubhouse. The polo fields have so many beautiful photo ops for your wedding photos. The location had a very nice breeze so we weren't suffering from the heat, which I was very worried about. The only thing I would have changed are the bathrooms. They're fancy outhouses that flush so they didn't smell bad. Other than that, it was a perfect venue.
This is an amazing place to have your special wedding day! It is the perfect place to have a quaint Hawaiian wedding, away from the city, with classic Hawaiian mountain scenery, a beautiful field for your wedding, and a secluded beach. It’s the complete package. Truly a magical spot! My wedding ceremony was right on the beach and completely private, which is very rare because all beaches in Hawaii are public and will always have other people. My reception was a little walk back to a club house that had an awesome dance floor under patio lights, right next to the table tent. In addition, several wedding necessities (i.e. chairs, tables, tents) already come with the venue, saving a lot of money and time for you. Yet, you still the option to include other options, such as patio lights, horse rides, bounce castles, tiki torches, and more, making it super easy on you. Also, Christie was absolutely amazing at answering all of my question and coordinating all of my last minute requests about the venue. Everything was beautiful that day and I would highly recommend having your wedding here
Our wedding day was everything we had dreamed it would be & more. A very Beautiful location & they offer great amenities to go along with your ceremony plus very affordable. All our guest were in awe with the location. Christie was amazing coordinator to work with. She was very on top of communicating and responded to me immediately anytime I had any questions or concerns. I highly recommend Hawaii Polo Club!
BRIDES (anyone considering renting really) BEWARE! Unfortunately, we made the mistake of trusting the Hawaii Polo Club’s website and advertised videos when signing our contract, before we had the opportunity to visit the location. Thank goodness we opted to take a trip to go see it in person prior to our wedding, because our initial reaction was a huge shock and utter disappointment!
We felt the club's online advertisements should accurately reflect what we would be paying for, having not yet had the opportunity to see the venue. We were sorely mistaken. Simply put, what we saw, was NOT what we signed up for! They are clearly trying to take advantage of anyone who is relying on their site to book their destination wedding and cannot come see it in person.
*IMPORTANT heads up for anyone considering this venue: what is depicted in the videos posted on their website does NOT exist at their location! Don’t be fooled by their false advertisements and misrepresentation!!! You cannot even see the beach from the reception tent. There is no place to get ready onsite. The “clubhouse” is a small, dirty, run-down shack of a structure, and there is absolutely NO room for you and your wedding party to get ready! When I brought it to their attention, they acknowledged that most of the videos were filmed off site. But nowhere on their site was that indicated. By the time they admitted this they already had our deposit in their pocket.
We gave them over two weeks notice that we’d be coming to preview the site for our wedding. But apparently even that wasn’t enough time to clean the place up! There was literally $h!t everywhere! There was horse feces on the beach, and the out-houses (which apparently act as their primary restrooms) were backed-up and overflowing! Not at all some place we’d want to expose our guests to during our wedding. Based on the degree of the problem, I just didn’t have confidence that this would be any different on our wedding day.
We had hoped that they would understand where we were coming from and respect our request for our deposit back. As we genuinely feel we were misled in what we committed to reserving, and believe they had ample time to allow someone else (for whom it would ideally meet their needs, as it does not meet ours) to rent their location. That was not the case at all!
I feel obligated to ensure this lack of communication, omission of facts, and misrepresentation in advertising does not continue to affect future brides and their families, as they make their wedding plans. DO NOT RENT THIS LOCATION without checking it out in person first! My purpose for this review is to alert anyone who would otherwise mistakenly trust their false advertisements! For your sake, I sincerely hope the deposit money we lost will be put towards building ACTUAL onsite restrooms, and a decent facility. Because they certainly took enough from our wallet to be able to do so!
FYI: The club JUST added the following disclaimer to their website:
“Please note that the venue includes the polo field and clubhouse area, there are outside hotel rooms, etc. depicted in the videos below that are not part of the property, if you have any questions regarding what is included or where something is, please don’t hesitate to ask.”
No, we never received our deposit back!
This is truly a gem of a venue in Oahu. It is outside of the city and a beautiful drive out. When we were looking for a venue, there were a few must's - beach ceremony (on the beach, in the sand), private, no crazy time constraints, and the ability to bring our own food/drinks. HPC fit the bill entirely. The venue is large enough to accommodate hundreds (but was excellent for our guest count of 100). The permanent tent, tables and chairs were provided, and there are other items you can rent as well (ie. arch, upgraded chairs, tiki torches etc). You're out in nature, so there was a breeze, and some larger breezes, so we had to take that into consideration when planning decor. Additionally, there are 2 bathrooms (pump flush style) so we were able to rent a portopotty from them as well.
The polo field was great for the kids to run around and for the adults to play bocce ball and corn hole. There's plenty of shade as well and the breeze was great in July. The backdrop of the mountains makes for awesome pictures with both beach and mountain backgrounds.
The venue coordinator was wonderful and extremely helpful. She answered my 50+ emails of questions and sent me videos of the venue because I was planning from Virginia, many miles away.
Pretty perfect place for a perfect day!
