Excellent Bakery. Staff was professional, polite and accommodating with my request. They allowed my mom and sister to do the cake taste testing since I live out of town and followed up with me personally to make sure that it was what I wanted. The cakes were brought to the venue as promised in perfect condition and way in advance of the event time. I highly recommend Haydel's bakery for all of your baked good needs, especially their almond wedding cake.

We actually did not have to seek far and long for our wedding cake choices as Haydel's Bakery came contracted with our venue (New Orleans City Park), and honestly I am VERY glad they did (and we didn't have to even search) because they did a phenomenal job with our cake! I typically do not like plain cakes and not only did they customize the flavors (we had three tiers, all different flavors), they also decorated it SO well! We opted for a fun light purple colored cake with lavender sprigs (part of our colors/wedding theme) and it looked soooo pretty! They also made sure the cake toppers of our cats were front and center, something that meant so much to us. Even though there was a small mishap with one of the cats falling off due to the cake icing melting (not Haydel's fault at all - it was a very very warm day), they seemed to fix it right up! I didn't even know that happened, only found out because my partner told me about it (in a funny way - we both laughed about it)! But that is an example of how well that issue was handled! 10/10 would highly recommend Haydels for your wedding cake. There is a reason they are local favorite for all things sweets and pastries (not to mention King Cakes during Mardi Gras!)! And just a note to anyone considering Haydel's and opting for a less traditional cake flavor - the devil's cake flavor (chocolate on chocolate) is their BEST flavor, hands down! If you don't get a cake layer or whole cake with this flavor, at least get cupcakes - it is genuinely so good! Extra note - I ordered carrot cake flavored cupcakes for my partner to have on the day of while getting ready and those were also incredible! So devil's cake and carrot cake - try both flavors (although carrot cake is not a wedding cake option, it is just very good no matter what)!

We were sent home with a plate of small pieces of cake to try and pick filling flavors. Communicating with the bakery was challenging, as well. When I would call, I'd be left on hold for a long time and sometimes not be answered at all. They were also slow to respond to emails. All and all, we were satisfied with the cakes not so much the before process.

to make our cakes as perfect as possible. We ordered both the traditional wedding cake and groom’s cake from Haydel’s, and both were spectacular. The traditional wedding cake had a praline pecan filling, and it was absolutely delicious. The groom’s cake had a pineapple filling, and it was also very delicious.
The decorations on both cakes were perfect. For the groom’s cake, we provided the decorations, and they placed them on the cake. You don’t have to do this—there’s many designs and decor that they can make for you—but this was the best choice to create a backyard bird bonanza cake for our bird watcher groom.
Bottom line: We love Haydel’s. 💜💚💛

Absolutely horrible experience with the cake. I spent weeks with about 80 emails passed back and forth with the coordinator at the Jef...
ferson Hwy location and even went in for the meeting. I gave a VERY simple image of a wedding cake which I was charged $400 for... My fiance went to pick it up the day before...and it was NOTHING like the picture. It was hot pink and light blue like a gender reveal cake. When my family called about the frustration and I sent an email, they offered to have us bring it in to fix it the DAY of the wedding which has 50+ miles away. No offers of delivery assistance even if it was out of "the range" and all they gave was $90 off the original price.
And to make matter worse, we tried to cut it in the back so people wouldn't see it. NO ONE would even eat the cake because they said it tasted like garlic....GARLIC when the flavors chosen were praline and Irish cream.
Please do not chose this vendor when there are hundreds of talented cake bakers that would actually go the extra mile for a wedding day.
