Our venue required some creativity on speaker and DJ booth placement, and he came up with a great plan to manage that. Once we booked him, Skip sent a planning document to inform our music on the day of, and it was SUPER comprehensive -- much appreciated for a type-A like me :). The latter is what we did -- picked a genre each for pre-ceremony, cocktail hour and dinner, and he did an awesome job of picking great music for us (one less thing for me to have to do as part of the planning process!). On the day of, everything went incredibly seamlessly -- Skip kept the night on track and once the dance floor opened, kept if FULL the entire time. Skip also took requests from our guests which everyone really loved, and he mixed songs, transitions between songs, etc. so it was super evident to our guests that we had a professional DJ there (vs. someone who just skips track to track on a playlist). If I had to do it all over, I would hire Skip again!

Skip was also flexible to a unforeseen changes regarding the venue and wedding time. My wife's processional music was lesser known Hawaiian song, and he had no issues finding it for us. On the day of the wedding Skip absolutely crushed it! The number of compliments we got in regards to Skip were countless. He hit all the audio cues perfectly, including music cues that the bridal party added to their speeches on the day of. He is a great MC and tailored his announcements to the crowd and the atmosphere. The. Dancing. Never. Stopped. Everything he did was perfect, and he knows exactly how to work the crowd. Before the wedding we gave him a few songs that fit the feel we wanted and he kept everything in line with those songs. On the specific songs we did give him he gave shout outs to the people they were intended for, which made them feel special. Skip also did some mixing which the crowd loved, because it kept everything fun and fresh. One of the highlights of our wedding occurred after Skip played the last song and the entire crowd started chanting "one more song!" It felt amazing to know my friends and family didn't want the wedding to stop, and Skip was the main reason for that.

ys prompt and professional in his emails. Had we had Skip as our DJ, our experience may have been very different. When we first met with Isaac, he seemed competent and we decided to book with Headsmile. However, things starting going downhill the week before our wedding. When we had a final meeting with Isaac to run through our DJ worksheet and provide him with the venue's schedule and set-up diagrams, Isaac was over an hour late to our meeting. On the day of our wedding, Isaac was completely unprepared. He was downloading music for the ceremony at the last minute, and our recessional music was not played as discussed in our wedding worksheet or our meeting. During the reception, Isaac had zero personality and did not follow any of the discussed schedules; we did not feel like we had an MC at all. He announced our wedding party in the incorrect order, did not play the song we had requested for our entrance (which had special meaning to us), was so quiet during announcements that guests could not hear their tables being called for the buffet and missed events like the cake cutting, and did not have songs on hand that had been requested on our DJ worksheet. After our wedding, guests informed us that Isaac would roll his eyes at them when songs were requested, and the venue informed us that Isaac was rude and verbally abusive toward staff. When the venue received complaints that the bass was too high and shaking walls across the hallway, and attempted to ask Isaac to turn it down, he told staff that he was doing things his way or would shut things down. Overall, Isaac was unprofessional, caused us a great deal of stress on our wedding day, and ruined some of our special moments.

Even during the reception, he would quickly verify with me on small details about timing, how we would like things to be introduced, yet I knew he was on top of it. Skip is extremely professional and personable. He takes his work seriously, and it felt to me like he has mastered his craft. I would say about 90% of people were up dancing. I have never heard of or been to a reception where this was the case. Gosh, this guy is the best. His pricing was reasonable, yet now that it's all said and done, I can easily say that I would have paid more. I would highly recommend Headsmile Productions to anyone.
