extensive details about our relationship on a form she provides. Despite this, there were a few mistakes in the initial ceremony draft she sent over. One of these was how long we have been together, which we clarified at the time. We did not think much of this, as mistakes happen. So when she asked if we wanted to read the "love story" section of the ceremony ahead of time or let it be a surprise, we opted to be surprised with what the other person had shared with Robin. The surprise we weren't expecting was a number of inaccuracies about our relationship. It seemed like she added details she thought would sound nice, despite them not being true / written in the documents we sent her. One of these inaccuracies was again how long we have been together. We also planned to have a loved one sing while we did a ring warming ceremony. Since this is not something every couple does, we put together a document with instructions and a diagram to share with our family members and venue. We sent this to Robin too. She assured us this was consistent with how she has seen ring warmings work in the past. Unfortunately, this section of our ceremony was quite clunky with Robin forgetting to call up our family member to sing and insisting (in the moment) that the rings be passed in one box together even though they were in separate boxes.  These smaller details together were bothersome, but what actually caused unnecessary stress was a miscommunication about the wedding license. We still aren't exactly sure how this happened. The groom sent Robin to get the marriage license from his dad. He was in the back of the ceremony space, as this was about 20 minutes before the ceremony was set to start, so he could not retrieve the license directly. She came into the room where the Bride and her parents were waiting and asked for the license. She said she was told the license was in that room. When the Bride told her the Groom's father had the license, Robin said the Groom's father only had the rings. The Groom's father says Robin did not speak with him at this time, so we are unsure how she was under the impression that he did not have the marriage license. This miscommunication was resolved a few minutes before the processional had to line up. It seems like this stressful situation could have easily been avoided. We opted not to pay for Robin to attend our rehearsal, as we had a very small wedding with no bridal parties. That was definitely our mistake. I think if you carefully look over the ceremony materials and have Robin attend the rehearsal, you will set yourself up to have a great experience.
