The Heartbeat of Every Event
Holds ceremonies and receptions
Heart Events By EDEM, in Saint Charles, MO, is a banquet hall venue that creates magical moments, making wedding dreams come true since 1993. The owner, Romney Rice-Dunn, has been working in the wedding industry for more than a decade, and she aims to provide a world-class event for you and your guests. Throughout her time at Heart Events, Romney has established long-standing relationships with vendors in Missouri and abroad, ensuring your day is everything you ever imagined.
At Heart Events By EDEM, there are two gorgeous wedding venues available for you and your partner to choose from. The Old Stone Chapel
is a real throwback to a previous time, and features a rich, ornate castle-like feel while providing the home comforts of a rustic church. It can accommodate up to 150 people, while the magnificent ballroom upstairs has a capacity of 200. Meanwhile, Le Belle Coeur, located on Main Street in Saint Charles, is also somewhat of a throwback. It combines a rustic chic vibe with all the elegance of a modern setting, while its decor, and in particular the crystal chandeliers, help provide a fairy tale vibe on your memorable day. Le Belle Coeur accommodates up to 225 family and friends.
As an experienced wedding planner, Romney will work with you from the very beginning to make sure everything runs smoothly. She lives for authentic love stories and will listen to every word you say to create an experience that not only matches but exceeds your wildest imagination. Heart Events By EDEM also offers a pre-wedding tour of the premises so you can see for yourself why so many people say "I do" to the Old Stone Chapel and Le Belle Coeur.

Yikes!!!! I have read several of the reviews and whomever management is you seriously need better communication skills and customer service abilities cause if you took my money and did half of what you did to these clients I would have you in c...
ourt so fast your head would spin. Double booking, poor food, lack of communication, not responding for a time unend especially when a contract is signed. Then I read the owners response no real apology to any of the clients she offended or any effort to fix the situation. Sounds like you really don't care so maybe this industry isn't for you. Just my 2 cents as a resident of St Charles Missouri that is not good representation of a business in the community.

Spent 3 weeks trying to book a date for a wedding and when they finally got around to us our preferred dates were already booked. In the proposal they sent us there was a couple things that stood out. There was a minimum guest count that was ne...
ver communicated to us and was never posted to their website. When we sent a response email they said “we can’t do anything about that”basically saying they wouldn’t even work with us. We had also brought up the fact that the 22% gratuity fee was added twice to the invoice and they tried acting like it wasn’t.
After looking over the reviews we decided to walk away from this company as their communication and professionalism are sorely lacking. There are many other venues in the area that you don’t have to beg to reply to you when you’re willing to spend $12,000 with them.

Venue is beautiful. Management, communication, food was horrible. Rather than working with one person, the entire time of wedding planning we were passed down between three people. Each Time we were passed down from one person to the next, the ...
agreements we had made with the previous person were not honored and took forever to get finalized on paper. The day of coordinator was horrible. Kyra. Didn’t know my name. Ruined the procession walk that was timed with the music playing; didn’t listen to what we wanted at all. She was SO rude to our officiant. Made me cry after rehearsal. Got scammed for a second bartender during cocktail hour that we paid for. Didn’t bring another bartender in until someone said something about it once the reception started. Food was TERRIBLE. The McDonald’s we had after tasted 10x better the reception and that’s saying a lot. Just overall don’t do it. Save yourself the worry and money. Gave one star for the venue itself.

We selected The Old Stone Chapel and Heart Events by EDEM after touring the venue in April 2024 and signing our contract in June 2024. During the tour, owner Romney represented the venue as well-suited for remote planning and discussed services...
including day-of coordination, décor rentals, and setup/tear-down assistance. As out-of-state clients, these services were important factors in our decision.
We were also told that Heart Events by EDEM did not schedule multiple events at the same time between The Old Stone Chapel and La Belle Coeur across the street. This was important to us, as we expected our event would receive full attention without overlap from another wedding.
Unfortunately, our experience during planning was frustrating. Communication often required multiple follow-ups before receiving responses, and staff frequently appeared unfamiliar with details specific to our event.
If you value consistent updates, transparency, and proactive communication, this venue may not be the best fit.
We booked in part due to advertised décor rental and coordination services. However, when we attempted to contact the person responsible for décor, we received no response and ultimately had to hire a third-party vendor.
During planning, I asked who would be our day-of coordinator. Romney said someone would be assigned the week of the wedding. No coordinator was ever assigned, and after the event we were told coordination is only provided when both ceremony and reception are held on-site. This was not communicated clearly at booking and created confusion about who was managing our timeline.
Planning details were still being finalized the week of the wedding, and we were exchanging invoice updates just three days prior. On the wedding day, while at our off-site ceremony, we received a text from Romney asking for side selections for our catering package.
Our contract included a 5:00 p.m. outdoor cocktail hour and 6:00–10:00 p.m. reception. When guests arrived, another wedding party was still using the cocktail space for photos and did not fully clear until about 5:02 p.m. The other wedding was across the street at La Belle Coeur, and many of their guests had parked on-site, leaving limited parking for ours.
We were never greeted by management upon arrival and only spoke with a manager after requesting assistance due to delayed dinner service. Buffet service was scheduled for 6:00–7:00 p.m. but did not begin until about 6:30 p.m. Romney released the first tables and then returned to the other event, leaving the groom’s mother to manage the remaining seating.
Vegetarian and vegan meals requested in advance for the bride’s parents were not prepared.
We also observed concerning food handling practices. While waiting to be introduced, we saw staff, including management, crossing between venues while wearing food-service gloves without changing them before returning to food preparation duties.
After the wedding, we requested a written apology and compensation. Multiple emails were required before receiving a response. While an apology was provided, much of it focused on justifying the issues rather than addressing them directly, leaving us with the impression that this level of service is considered acceptable.
Overall, our experience did not reflect what was promised during booking. We are sharing this so future couples can make an informed decision when considering The Old Stone Chapel and Heart Events by EDEM.
