Beautiful and delicious cakes!!! Our three layer wedding cake was absolutely gorgeous! We also had some different sheet cakes to serve, cookie cake for the groom and flourless chockolat raspberry for GF. Everything was delivered on time as planned and looked and tasted amazing!
Heidelberg Bakery was the perfect choice for our wedding cakes! We went with two small cakes instead of a traditional wedding cake. Wed did on white heart-shaped one that had our initials on it and was absolutely gorgeous. We also had a round grooms cake that was decorated in University of Virginia colors, as we both went to UVA. We got them delivered the same day for $50, which was well worth it. Overall, I highly recommend them, as the process for ordering went super well when we talked to the managers over the phone, and everyone loved the look and taste of the cakes!

Best bakery in Northern Virginia!!!! Their cakes taste incredible. We had no idea what kind of cake we wanted and they were so helpful guiding us through the cake design process. The cake samples were large enough to ensure you got the best representation of what your cake will taste like. We wanted a less traditional looking cake and heidelberg was happy to make that possible. Delivery was timely and everything looked and tasted perfect!
Heidelberg bakery was amazing from start to finish when choosing our wedding cake. Our experience in the shop was very personalized as we were able to try a few cakes in a small setting with their employee, two of our family members, and us. They were knowledgeable and gave great advice without seeming pushy when choosing our wedding flavors and design. The price was reasonable and fair. On our wedding day, the cake arrived flawlessly and was delicious. We will definitely use them again for future events that require any bakery needs.

Our wedding cake was amazing! It was beautiful and tasted SO good, our guests were raving about it! We did a 3 tier vanilla cake with raspberry jam. We also ordered cookies and mini pastries which were delicious. The staff at Heidelberg was very friendly and Susie was great to work with. We had no issues!
Heidelberg Bakery did a FANTASTIC job on our wedding cake! We got married this past weekend in a small wedding due to COVID. The cake tasted so yummy and looked so beautiful!!! You will not regret going with them!
SOOOOOOO GOOOOD. We ordered a small cake and 140 cupcakes (wedding size was 100). We did not have any cupcake left! We received complaints all night about how good the cupcakes were. They were delivered on time and perfectly packaged.

I knew they would be the perfect choice for my cake baker, based on my experience with them as my local bakery shop with the friendliest staff imaginable. I got to know Heidelberg first by buying dozens of delicious pastries/muffins to bring to office meetings and from there have enjoyed stopping in for the occasional treat, but their wedding cakes are truly impressive. Heidelberg Pastry Shoppe is THE PLACE to get your wedding cake, groom’s cake, and any other treats you may consider having for your wedding! My husband and I went to Heidelberg Pastry Shoppe for a tasting after it had been recommended by several friends and colleagues, and we were treated with such respect and kindness! We called ahead to pick out the flavors that most interested us. They set up our own table (complete with a “wedding tasting” sign), a massive binder of almost all their cake designs they have done in the past, and three huge multi-layer slices of cake of our choices. The woman taking care of us was attentive but allowed us to take our time and discuss our opinions; she answered all our questions and was extremely patient! A few weeks leading up to the wedding, the bakery was flexible in changing the sizes and décor of the cake. The day of, the cake was delivered with no issue and everyone RAVED about it! We decided on almond cake with raspberry jam with spice cake with apricot jam; both of those layers were a hit, and even months after the wedding, people still talk about how great that cake was! My husband and I now get all special event cakes there! An amazing bakery that was highly recommended by several people that makes fantastic cakes with exceptional service and great pricing….this is a must for a great wedding!
Heidelberg is fantastic! My husband and I got our wedding cake there and were extremely pleased with how beautiful it was decorated and how good it tasted! My husband is from Germany so we were beyond excited to find a German/European pastry shop in the area that does wedding cakes! We met with Yetim who is super sweet and helpful and had a tasting at the shop. We chose a design and they created it based on our specifications. The cake was delivered on time and it looked absolutely wonderful. We got many compliments on it and how good it was! Several people at our wedding told us they usually don’t expect much from wedding cake, but that ours was delicious! We definitely recommend Heidelberg to anyone for any event and we will be returning just to treat ourselves to their yummy pastries!
Our cake was wonderful and we got so many compliments, some even saying it was the best wedding cake they'd had! My only complaint is that some staff members did not seem to be in great communication, making them a bit hard to work with. Aside from the communication errors I would highly recommend.
I am reviewing this bakery based solely on the cake tasting and ordering experience. It was very easy to schedule a cake tasting, but you do have to give them a couple of days notice so they can bake the specific type for you. You get three flavors of your choosing as part of the tasting, and then can also order additionals. We ended up ordering 6 different combos split amongst 4 tasters. They reserved a table for us and brought us complimentary coffee and tea. It was soooo busy in there on a Saturday, but it was as if we were the only clients in the place. They have a huge book filled with different designs, or you can create your own. We ended up ordering a large 3-layer with different layers plus a Black Forest groom's cake. It was hard to choose because every flavor was amazing, the cake was very moist, and the frosting and fillings were delicious. Yetim also helped us customize the design to match our cake topper. She was extremely patient and a lovely person to work with. We knew we made the right choice when we had at least 3 different people stop by our little table to congratulate us and tell us how great the cake was going to be!

So good! Heidelberg supplied a small wedding cake (strawberries and bavarian cream) and pies for our wedding. Everything was so delicious, especially the cake. It was so good that we couldn't find any after our first tasting - oh well, an excuse to order the cake again on our one year anniversary.

I ordered a 6" round almond cake with raspberry filling. The icing was piped perfectly. We also ordered 3 count 1/2 sheets of Obst torte for the guests and EVERYONE LOVED IT! We got so many compliments and our guests kept asking who made the cake. They were also posting pictures of the plates AFTER finishing the cake to comment how good it was. A home run for our wedding!

Heidelberg Bakery has always been one of my favorite places to go for cakes so I was really excited when I found out they did wedding cakes. After doing tastings at a few other places, we went with Heidelberg Bakery because their cake was very tasty and moist and their prices were so reasonable. We picked lemon cake with raspberry filling and white buttercream with a simple design on three tiers in purple. Their only weakness I would say is their designs are a bit old-school - if you're looking for something really over the top or original, they might not be the best choice. But if you want a delicious cake with a simple pretty design, they are winners! On the day of our wedding, I couldn't believe how delicious the cake was! I can't wait for our anniversary to get another cake from Heidelberg!
First of all this is the "ma and pa" bakery that every great town/city needs. They are well-known and it's always a busy location. Our tasting was delicious. Everything we could have asked for. Our cake was part of our hotel venue's package, but we couldn't have found a better place! When giving them a picture they did exactly what we asked. Our end wedding cake was to die for and everyone commented on how great it was. This company just got a customer for life!! :)
We went in for a cake tasting and instantly knew that Heidelberg Pastry Shop was the bakery we wanted to make our cake. Their cake samples taste amazing - nice, moist and the buttercream frosting was the best we've ever had. They gave us plenty of time to sample several of their favorite combinations and offered to create any others we'd like to try. The owner, Klaus, walked us through the entire process of designing our cake.
The cake arrived on time as planned on our wedding day and looked exactly as we imagined. All of our guests raved about the cake and went back for more. Klaus was very professional throughout the entire process, from the moment we met him to the delivery of the cake. The price was amazing for a four tier cake.

Wolfgang (the owner of the bakery) and his wife Cara did a great job helping us find the right recipe for our cake and they made a cake that looks exactly like we had asked for. And Wolfgang gives great marriage advice also!
I am already a customer of this bakery. The cake they made for us was so good! I was upset that the hotel did not provide us with all of the left over cake. It was moist and flavorful without tasting like box cake. I truly loved it!
I totally recommend Heidelberg! They did my daughter's wedding cake at Fort Myer Officers' Club. It was so good. Everyone raved about it. They are among Fort Myer Officers' Club preferred vendors. Although we had a dozen bakers to choose from, we only considered Heidelberg due to its reputation. We were not disappointed. My kids chose three flavors out of many at the tasting and all were to die for. It was beautifully decorated. Our florist put flowers on as a topper.

I got a three-tiered cake (white on white with rasperry jam) plus a large sheetcake (chocolate cake with hazelnut mousse) for my 260-guest wedding. I heard from many guests that it was the absolute best wedding cake they've ever had. The chocolate cake was the clear winner.
They were a little annoying to work with on the decor, as they won't place flowers on your cake. Luckily my venue did it for me later so it all worked out. Overall, highly highly recommend Heidelburg!
If you're looking for really tasty wedding cake in the area, Heidelberg Pastry Shoppe is fabulous! They have delicious moist poundcake with several options for fillings, frostings, decorations, etc. The owner of the bakery is very friendly and willing to offer whatever you'd like! They're very easy to work with. We received compliments on how good our wedding cake tasted :) The bakery also has a variety of other food items - not just wedding cake - that you can order or pick up for any type of occasion.
I really enjoyed my wedding cake, what little of it I got to eat. We got a 4 tier cake to feed 150 with alternating flavors, butter cream icing, a fairly classic and and simple design. I also had them add a special logo in fondant on the bottom of the cake for my husband, which came out really well.
My only complaints are that it took a few times to communicate my special request over the phone to them (someone didn't write my message down or put in with my cake file the first time) and they didn't provide a box for the top tier of the cake. My venue luckily found a somewhat suitable box from the kitchen and used that to give me my top tier.
Everyone raved about how great Heidelberg cakes are, but I wasn't impressed. Maybe I just had too-high expectations. The cake looked good, but the price for anything beyond the most basic vanilla and buttercream was way higher than I expected or was willing to pay for. They delivered the cake on time, but with the wrong filling... I didn't plan on eating it anyway because I'm not really a fan of vanilla and buttercream.
The cake was amazing and all the layers tasted delicious. They were really accommodating to my designs of a cake and it turned out even better than I imagined. I do wish they would have put on the cake topper for me because I was worried that we would mess it up but it turned out perfectly. I also loved how for just $30 we could get an extra top tier so we didn't have to worry about people eating it. A wonderful vendor to discover through Fort Myer.

We used Heidelberg for our wedding cake and cheesecakes for the rehearsal dinner. This is not a place to go for trendy or exotic confections, but if you want a classic cake done well, they are tops. They were super-helpful and friendly when we did our tasting and the ordering process was a breeze. The wedding cake came out beautifully and tasted fantastic!

I normally don't like wedding cake. I think it is dry and not flavorful normally. I tried Heidelberg cake and it changed my opinion on wedding cake! It was really, really delicious! They presented themselves very well, serving us coffee with our cake we selected and were prepared with an album and samples of their designs. They designed my wedding cake to look EXACTLY like the picture I showed them and added the details I requested - all with buttercream. My husband and I were very pleased!

The online pictures are a great help and we narrowed down our design. The cake tasting was excellent (so good, the sample plate was scraped with the fork to get the last of the frosting off!) Their pictures and my sketches allowed them to create a masterpiece. When we arrived on our wedding day, the cake was set up and it was beautiful! They had matched the colors perfectly! The cake was moist and delicious, the frosting application was clean and tasted sweet, and the fondant bows were an added surprise! The guests raved about the cake. I would highly recommend Heidelberg to anyone for their wedding, or even the wide array of delicious treats to satisfy any sweet tooth in their shoppe.

We got a traditional tiered wedding cake and a chocolate groom's cake for our wedding. We always use Heidelberg for any cake needs because everything they make is amazing. Our guests all loved the cakes (as did our coworkers who got the leftovers). If you pay in full when you order, you get a coupon for a free cake on your one year wedding anniversary (really, who wants to eat year-old cake with freezer burn, get a new one). Price is comparable to other area bakeries, but the cake is really really good!

The cake was beautiful and delicious, we went for a simple vanilla cake with lemon curd filling and white buttercream frosting. The cake was white with white flowers, and we added our own flowers to match the arrangements and my bridal bouquet. It was a big hit, and have received lots of comments from guests on how great the cake was.

I may not be the most objective reviewer, since I've been a Heidelberg fan for years and there was no question I would get my wedding cake from them. The only challenge I had was picking out flavor combinations. I'm not a baker and they have an extensive list of choices, but no pre-selected combinations. It would have been helpful to have a little more guidance on this front. Still, I loved the cake. They give you a coupon for a free little cake on your anniversary, but I'm not sure I can wait a whole year!

I had a vision for my cake that didn't really fit any of the cakes that Heidelberg displayed in their cake books. They really took the time to listen and implement my vision. They worked with us to find the perfect type of cake that would taste great and still look good (poundcake with buttercreme icing - amazing. Their prices were very reasonable and they were wonderful about making the top of the cake sturdy to hold my heavy cake topper, providing color samples to look at, and really capturing what I was looking for.
Going to Heidelberg for my tasting was so much fun! I fell in love with the strawberry filling. I still crave it (2 months after my wedding), can't wait for our anniversary when we can break out our cake again. Wish I lived in the area b/c I would visit this bakery weekly. Customer service excellent, no complaints!
We used Heidelberg Bakery as part of a "package" that they partnered with our reception location. The cake was beautiful, and it tasted amazing! We kept the top tier to eat a year later, and even a year after the fact, it was STILL amazing :) Our guests gave us great compliments on it, both the look AND the taste.
I was very disappointed when I saw the awful job that they did with the marzipan cover of my wedding cake. It had bubbles and many visible imperfections. The service was also bad. They were consistently impolite and sometimes even rude on the phone. I have to say that the taste of the cake was very good. But I also wanted it to look good, you know? I would not recommend it for a wedding.
