The Heritage House Resort is a beautiful and unique venue. Our guests loved the location and continued to comment about how good the food was which we are thrilled about. The staff was attentive, courteous, warm and flexible. The day went off smoothly and the wedding coordinator Emily is a delight to work with. Would highly recommend if you are looking for a unique and special location.
I recently held my wedding at Heritage House Resort. TLDR - it couldn't have been better.
Long version: the Heritage House is an absolute gem. The location is stunning on its own and this resort is built recognizing strength. Everything is centered around the natural beauty of the area.
We bought out the resort for our wedding weekend, as a result, I was able to see every room. All rooms are well appointed, comfortable, clean, and have a deck to enjoy the view. You could easily spend you entire stay in your room and deck and not feel like you missed out.
The staff are great people - attentive and really try to make your stay special. Since we stayed at Heritage House a few times before the big day (planning), we started getting to know many of them on a first name basis. Both Emily (GM) and (Wedding Coordinator) worked very hard to ensure all of our requests were met and often exceeded. The receptionists were always there with a smile and a joke. As a whole, the staffing sometimes felt light as we planned for our big day (due to the location) but they staff up for the wedding.
Last, but definitely not least, THE FOOD is fantastic.; quality is outstanding (all local produce) and creative dishes. Nikki (Head of Food and Bev) does a great job changing the seasonal menu, hiring great kitchen staff and ensuring drinks are specialty and wine is local.
So, if you want a beautiful, relaxing place to spend a few days away, The Heritage House is what you want. If you are looking for wedding location for a medium size group (~125 ppl) HH is perfect for indoors. They can also do larger weddings outdoors however require tent and porta-loo rentals which seemed like too much work for our liking.
We also look forward to going back for our anniversaries every few years!
We had our August 2016 wedding at Heritage House Resort, and couldn't have imagined a more perfect place to host our intimate nuptials with family and close friends. The staff was incredibly accommodating and helpful. No hiccups in the schedule during the whole weekend, which allowed my husband and I to it back and enjoy this incredible moment in our lives. We worked with several local vendors (L&R Farms -floral, M Salon- hair/makeup, Holly Shankland Photography, Shani's Sweet Crations- Cake, Prasad Events- Day of wedding planner, and Matt Rowland Events- Rentals) and were so pleased with what each of them contributed to make our wedding so incredibly special and perfect in every way! If you're looking for a quiet, breathtaking ocean locale for your wedding, I highly recommend the Heritage House Resort! You won't regret it!
“That was the best wedding we’ve ever been to!” is the exclamation we continue to hear from our guests. I attribute much of that sentiment to having our wedding at Heritage House Resort and the staff there. Our wedding was truly beyond our wildest dreams. Heritage House on the Mendocino Coast is a property beyond compare for a wedding. Our wedding took place on the bluff overlooking the ocean, the epitome of coastal elegance. We had not only the wedding and reception on the property but also extended party at the bar after our welcome barbeque at Big River Beach, and the brunch the morning after the wedding.
Our guests were welcomed from the moment they entered the lobby. All guests received a special gift of freshly baked cookies on arrival with a special tag attached welcoming them to our wedding weekend celebration. The food throughout the weekend was delicious and guests raved about the short ribs, loved the salmon, and ate up those garlic mashed potatoes. The food was served family style with class and abundance, no detail left out. The barbeque after party at the bar extended the fun with a welcoming bar staff. The brunch was again delicious and everyone enjoyed the food, especially the frittata and the homemade granola on the yogurt bar, as they recovered from the epic wedding reception the night before. The ambiance of the brunch venue, dining rooms, lounge and balcony was the best.
The staff at Heritage House made sure our guests were taken care of in every aspect of the weekend. They were there when needed always in the background to make our guests comfortable. Our guests all loved every minute of being on the property. Part of the reason we got married at HH was so that most of our guests could stay on the property and be fully present to the celebration (it is easy to be present on the gorgeous Mendocino coast); we did a buyout of the whole resort for the weekend. Our guests loved just walking the property and relaxing in their room on the balcony, or the lobby lounge area, meeting people from both sides of our families/friends. Everyone got to know each other more intimately by just spending time on property of Heritage House. Some even enjoyed a massage at the spa and in-room. The staff with Alana Ostrowski, General Manager at the helm, made our wedding weekend a memory that our family and friends all still talk about as the most incredible wedding they ever attended. I am certain that Heritage House Resort will soon become the premier California coast destination wedding venue!
