Herlong Mansion Bed and Breakfast

I have always loved small southern towns and the friendliness they all seem to possess, as well as “Old Florida '' and the rich history the state has, so when we pulled up to the Herlong for the first time, I immediately knew we had found our wedding venue. The Herlong sits off the main street in the quaint town of Micanopy and doubles as a beautiful bed & breakfast. Dan was always there to take our calls and answer any questions or concerns we had, even calling us after the weekend to offer his congratulations and personally make sure we were satisfied with everything throughout the weekend. With the groom being from out of state, it was such a fantastic option to have family and friends be able to stay there, as we rented the whole property for the weekend of our wedding. It also gave our guests such a unique experience to be able to stay here instead of a chain hotel. The staff was very welcoming and provided delicious made from scratch cookies in the afternoon and a wonderful three course breakfast. The banana foster french toast was unbelievable! Katherine was always there to help if we or any of our guests needed anything. As a wedding venue the Herlong is the best all in one option and even not as a wedding venue it is a great getaway from life's daily hustle and bustle. We highly recommend and thank Dan and his staff for hosting such an unforgettable weekend!

My wife and I looked at dozens of wedding venues over several weeks and from the first moment we toured the mansion it became our standard by which we compared all other venues. Feature after feature of the house became items on a wish list that our perfect wedding would have to have. When we saw the breakfast room, we both had visions of being surrounded by our families as we ate together the morning after the ceremony. Seeing the porch swings on the column-lined second floor balcony, we envisioned relaxing there with wine on the evening after the reception surrounded by our friends. It seemed as if the very atmosphere of the mansion would make our day not just perfect for us, but somehow a timeless part of history. And our expectations were exceeded. The grounds, the house, the atmosphere, all worked together to make our day the picture of a perfect wedding in ways we couldn’t have anticipated. We hired barbers to give my groomsmen and I shaves that morning, and between the luxury of the house, the 20’s swing music playing in the background, and old-timey barber setup the feel of the day was unforgettable. The twin first-floor and second-floor outdoor balconies gave us a backdrop for wedding photos that brought tears to our eyes. From the central staircase or the original 1840’s wood features to the manicured grounds, everywhere you looked it felt as grand as the mansion’s façade. That fact that our entire party had booked out the house and that the whole grounds were reserved just for us gave us a wedding and a weekend that was priceless. The only thing we struggled with is that we were required to use the Herlong’s decorator and event coordinator, which are the most expensive in town. Trying to figure out how much everything would cost when it was said and done was very stressful. We ended up way over budget, but looking back on it we wouldn’t change anything. Dan was always available to answer our questions. Heidi took care of our every need. The entire wedding went off without a hitch just as we’d imagined, which is incredible. We love that we can go back to stay for a weekend and relive every moment. The Herlong gave us the wedding of our dreams, and we just wouldn’t have had that anywhere else.

My husband and I had a small reception here at the end of June and the entire staff at the Herlong Mansion went above and beyond to ensure that everything was absolutely perfect for us! We held our ceremony on the University of Florida's campus so we weren't able to be at the Herlong when our food, cupcakes, and floral arrangements arrived for the reception, but Dan, Tara, and Heidi did a phenomenal job with getting everything set up on time and everything looked wonderful! They were even able to have all of the tables, chairs, and linens all set up in the Long hall the day before our wedding so that we could start setting up a couple decorations! The Herlong Mansion was the perfect venue for our intimate reception; they exceeded our expectations!

Dan and his staff will go to any length to help deliver the wedding of your dreams. My wife and I had an excellent experience! We had a small reception in the Long Hall and our families stayed in the mansion. The chef made an amazing breakfast every morning and we were left with time to share with our families that traveled in for the wedding. The venue is beautiful, peaceful and all in a small town. We used Dan's recommendation for the florist and caterer, and the caterer recommended a fantastic makeup artist! We (my wife) planned our wedding in two months and each of the recommended vendors helped us along the way. I highly recommend The Herlong to anyone looking for a nice quiet place to have a wedding or special occasion.
