Herman Au Photography

spot to capture the moment and also what times have the best lighting. Herman even showed up to our “get ready” air bnb to capture moments of us before heading to the venue. The videographer team was around every corner, it felt like his team were our eyes and ears at the wedding when we had other activities going on. The Photo Booth option has an incredible quality camera that provides both digital and printed copies as well as a photobooth attendant! We even got sneak peak photos within 1 week. We highly recommend Herman Au Photography!

nd hired his team for 10 hours, 2 photographers, 2 videographers, and their photobooth and flower wall backdrop for the day of. The day of, to my surprise Herman himself was one of the photographers!! 1 videographer and 1 photographer went to where me and my bridesmaids were getting ready, and the other two went to my husband's family home where he was with his groomsmen. They took great coverage at the home, BellaTerra/Barnes&Noble, and our venue. They had great ideas and came with their own vision and were good at organizing/positioning us for the shots, while also being amenable to whatever things we wanted to do. Herman answers questions promptly and had a great form to fill out before the weekend to help give an idea of our expectations and plan for the night. After the wedding, they sent me about 40 sneak-peek photos, and then it will be about 8 weeks for photo editing to be complete and 12 for our 5-7 minute highlight reel. I feel like they were an awesome team together, they truly listened to our wants and had a great attitude. I'm SO excited from the preview pics to see what else they got- I'll probably cry looking through them all!!! They captured our joy and fun so perfectly. Highly recommend!

more (he even had a spare pin that he let us borrow!). He and his team were super easy to work with, friendly, and all around wonderful. We really appreciated their help on our wedding day.

tographers like to use the "Hollywood" style, which is a bit darker, and I know some people who prefer that style. But what my husband and I wanted was exactly Herman's style: bright, crisp, clear photos. For our engagement photo shoot, he brought us to a little unknown park he was familiar with. We were the only people at this park, so we didn't have to worry about people walking around and disturbing the photo shoot. Herman had suggestions for poses, and he really helped me and my husband feel comfortable as the day went on. Herman knew where photos would look good, and he and his staff used bubbles to create such cute photos. For our wedding, we had Herman and his team for photos & video. Thank God for the videos because as many people say, the day goes by way too quick and it's hard to be in the moment sometimes since you're needed here and there. Herman and his team captured every moment of the wedding and made such a wonderful wedding video for us. And of course, the pictures they took were beautiful and exactly what we wanted: venue photos, getting ready photos, family & friends photos, everything photos! Our wedding party was also a bit rowdy & fooled around a lot, but the photographer didn't lose his patience with us and made sure he got some of the silly photos, too. Awesome!! Herman is also very good at communicating, and he is always able to answer any questions my husband and I had. He's always in touch, and we will definitely use Herman for any event photography we have in the future. Thank you, Herman, for taking such beautiful pictures for us at our engagement photo shoot & wedding day!! You and your team are the best!

imsy. Our package also included a second photographer. We thought they would be an apprentice or something, but they actually had their own business and were just as professional/skilled as Herman.

and all my guys, fixed my bowtie, and made my special day go super smoothly. Good pricing, fast to respond. BOOK THEM NOW!

st. He was extremely easy to work with, understanding, hilarious, flexible, and easy to reach. I cannot recommend him enough! My husband and I are not the best at posing for cameras but he knew exactly how to direct us so we could have the best photos. His team are also very sweet and easy to work with!

ni-engagement shoot and 10 hours of 2 photographers and 2 videographers on the day of the wedding. Before I dive into the review, we just want to thank Herman, Rich, Vincent, and Kirby for their time and dedication on our wedding day. We appreciate everything they did that day to capture our special day for us. Let’s start with the mini engagement shoot, we were supposed to get just 1 hour with an associate photographer but I asked Herman if he could do it so we know how he works come wedding day. Not only did he say yes, but we shot at Crystal Cove for over 3 hours and during sunset too! The photos were phenomenal and we absolutely loved them. We loved how the editing wasn't overly saturated or blown out; basically we love how everything looked very natural and the composition of every photo was perfect. Herman is super easy to work with and his years of experience with photography allowed him to tell us which poses we should do and make us feel extremely comfortable. On the day of the wedding, we got ready at our house. Herman and his team arrived promptly as discussed and took getting ready and bridal party photos for us. We then migrated and all drove to the venue to take some photos as I put on my wedding dress. They scouted outside for the best photos for the first look. Honestly I felt like I trusted everything they said to do since I knew they’ve done this so many times before. I’m actually super excited to see how the ceremony video turns out the most. Wedding day breezed by so fast and half the time I didn’t realize photos were being taken. Herman and his team coordinated with our day of coordinator on timing and everything and we didn’t have to worry about a thing. Things could not have gone smoother. At one point in the middle of the night, Herman and his team requested everyone to go outside suddenly and we took a huge group photo at night. I wasn’t really sure what time it was throughout the day but soon Herman stopped by and told me they were leaving. I realized the night was slowly coming to an end. Before he left, Herman said “sneak peek” will be available soon! On the following Tuesday he sent me an email with a link to the sneak peek photos. I was in shock at how everything came out! Honest opinion of my experience working with Herman and his team: It was the best decision ever; they are so easy and comfortable to work with. Honest opinion of the outcome of the engagement and sneak peek photos: My favorite photos taken by any photographer. At the point of writing this review, we have not received the wedding photos or videos yet but we’re pretty sure we’ll be blown away in a few weeks ;) We can’t wait! Thanks again for capturing our special day and spending it with us!

hoot. In every aspect of his work, Herman and his team excelled. From directing us for the best shots to capturing candid moments effortlessly. They all went above and beyond, even extending their time to accommodate our requests for additional photos. The results were nothing short of spectacular, and these are photos I will be looking at for the rest of my life with a smile on my face. Also a plus, the photo booth included in their services with top tier and was a lot of fun for our guests! Herman's talent, dedication, and genuine passion for his craft made him worth every penny. If you're seeking a photographer who will not only capture memories but also elevate them into timeless works, look no further than Herman. We are endlessly grateful for his exceptional work in preserving the magic of our wedding day.

We highly recommend Herman and his team for anyone who would like to have the same. 10/10!!!

in between is priceless. We were able to experience our special day from so many points of view. We received so many compliments on the photos and videos. And honestly cannot wait to show our kids someday. I would highly recommend Herman and his wonderful team.

ill not be disappointed.

t our wedding ran smoothly. They went above and beyond with ease. We highly recommend Herman Au Photography and give him and his team 20 out of 10 stars!!! Thanks, Herman for the amazing photos!!

dding day. Herman and his team have done so many weddings, especially in the Pasadena and San Gabriel Valley areas. They were very helpful during our actual wedding day, and I felt like they were coordinating for us a bit! We felt very safe and comfortable in their hands. We bought a the photo and video package for 10 hours. It was a team of 4, 2 for photos and 2 for video. The picture and video came out beautiful and on time. Herman and his team are affordable as well. Herman also took our engagement photos. Once again, we felt safe and happy in his hands at Crystal Cove. We were extremely happy with his work at the beach.

ographer for the event, photo booth, and even a cinematography package! We had 2 photographers and 2 cinematographers, which came in handy for morning-of photos while myself and my wife were getting ready at different locations with our wedding party. On top of that, the amount of coverage for the ceremony and reception was exactly what was needed to capture the magic of our wedding. Oh, did we mention that we had a hurricane hit California the very day of our wedding? We didn’t… well that happened, and Herman and his team were still at each location promptly at the time they said they would be there. For the best team in the Los Angeles area, look no further than Herman Au Photography (they are your videographers too, it’s a one-stop shop)!

e as it was important to us to have a photographer who was already familiar with venue. From our first introduction meeting, he was very kind, easy to talk to, and not pushy like some of the other vendors we met. We went with a package that included an engagement shoot and both wedding photography and videography. For the engagement shoot, Herman gave some great location recommendations and was very accommodating in some of our last minute schedule changes. He was so kind in person and was very encouraging so that we could get comfortable in front of the camera. We generally aren't very picky with the shots so Herman took the lead and had some really fun and creative ideas that turned out wonderfully. The photos were absolutely stunning and so we were very confident going into wedding day. Despite the high bar that Herman had set, he and his team exceeded all expectations during the wedding. They were extremely professional, punctual, friendly, patient, efficient, yet unobtrusive. We got some sneak peek photos back incredibly quickly and are in love with the results, and can't wait to see the rest. Herman and his team have great versatility in their shots and captured some really special moments, both staged and candid. We cannot overstate our praise for Herman and his team and would work with him again in a heartbeat. Thank you Herman!

ed a 2 hour photo session before the wedding, and then photos during the wedding and reception. My husband and I are quite awkward in general, and even moreso in front of a camera. Herman was really patient and made it easy for us to loosen up and pose for some really nice photos (we even look normal in them!) :) Herman also took many lovely candid photos of us and the guests during the ceremony and reception. The photos that he and his team take are hosted on their website for an entire year, making it easy to share the photos with friends and family.

miliar with the venue as it’s a fairly unique location. Our photography package also included a 2-hour engagement photo session at the location of our choice with Herman and one of his assistants. This was a great way to meet him and get more comfortable and familiar working with him. Working with him on the engagement shoot was really fun, we immediately felt comfortable and natural with his directions and ideas for great photos. When the wedding day came, we were able to immediately jump right into our photos and this ended up saving us time by being prepared and understanding how to work with him. Herman and his assistant Danny were very adaptable as the schedule for photos prior to the ceremony changed at the last minute. We never lost out on photos we wanted as they were able to work efficiently and beautifully throughout the whole day. Many of our guests even mentioned that they didn’t even notice Herman during the event as he was not obtrusive and captured special moments in a natural and beautiful way. We’re very excited to see the results when they come in and he showed us a few sneak peeks during the wedding day and they looked spectacular. We would love to work with Herman again in the future!

took the time to understand their preferences, and it was greatly appreciated. He blended perfectly with our guests and wedding atmosphere, and we couldn't have been happier. We highly recommend Herman Au for your wedding!

ding and helped us customize a package that met all of our needs (photo, video, and photobooth). During the wedding, he and his team were so fun to be around. They took the time to get to know mine and my husband's personalities and captures pictures and moments that truly felt like us. They made us feel so comfortable throughout the day, helped us stay on track with our timeline for the day, and were diligent in getting all of the shots we requested as well as some really fun ones. They were even pros at wrangling our families into giant group photos that turned out amazing. They captured so many authentic moments throughout the day without disrupting the flow of the party. I can't recommend this wonderful team enough.

the fact that he wanted to get to know us a little to see what type of relationship we had with each other. This gave the whole process a more personal touch which we appreciated. He was very flexible with his scheduling and very accommodating with requests. His experience really showed as he understood exactly what we wanted. From communication, to payment, and everything else leading up to the day of the event, Herman and his teams presence gave us the confidence that they can get it done and it all went as smooth as we could've ever hoped for! It was a truly fun experience and we cant recommend them enough! Thank you so much!

him in person. We were going for a very classic and timeless look for our big day and Herman's gallery impressed us. It was also a plus that we were able to book the videographer through Herman. When we did our engagement shoot, Herman was flexible and easy going. We felt exceptionally comfortable. The photos were STUNNING! Then, the pandemic hit. Herman was so gracious and allowed us to push our date back. We were finally able to have our wedding this year and throughout the process, Herman made sure he communicated with us. Herman and his team on wedding day were incredible and so pleasant to work with. We had a wedding party totaling to 24 and everything went smoothly. 10000% recommend!!

r and easy choice. Herman Au Photography and Cotton Love Studios were the photographers/ videographers for my sister's wedding in 2012 and I even found our recently that my coworker used them as well. Plus, my venue allowed only one outside vendor and it was no brainer to choose them. Special thanks to Herman and his team for treating me like a princess from day one. They were able to work with me and granted what I was looking for, from competitive pricing/offerings to getting all my best angles! Even though Herman himself was booked on 10.10, he brought his best team out there for our engagement session and our big day. Huge shoutout to Doug and team who were all in their A game from arrival to the end. It was very fun having my own entourage follow me. As hard as it was for me not to have my phone on me to snap photos, I didn't need to worry because his team was there clicking away and getting every detail. And for someone who is an extreme perfectionist, I ensured that I go with the best team out there to capture my fairytale wedding. Can't wait to see how our photos turned out!

nervousness throughout the photoshoot :)

families appreciated. He has a keen eye and it results in great shots; we have received some sneak peeks so far and they all look gorgeous! Herman's a real pro and I would recommend him to everyone!

ne, I knew he was going to be an amazing vendor to work with. Herman is such a hardworking individual, who is also respectful and flexible to work with. I booked Herman right away for both my engagement session and wedding day for 10+ hours. Both my husband and I were planning a wedding in CA while we were living in Texas. Herman was very accommodating to us when scheduling our engagement session during the Christmas holiday. We wanted our engagement session at the beach, and Herman recommended Crystal Cove as a wonderful location to take engagement photos. During our engagement session he directed us on how we should be walking, placing our hands and looking. It was such a fun shoot and Herman was able to capture some amazing photos. Also the turnaround time to receive our photos was very quick. On our big day, Herman and his team did such a phenomenal job. They all have such a great eye for photography. Weddings can be a bit chaotic, but Herman was so patient and was easy to work with during our entire big day. He was able to capture sweet moments between my husband and I, as well as with family members and guests. We were also fortunate to have a beautiful sunset to shoot outside our venue. He did an amazing job at capturing a handful of pictures during the golden sunset hour. After the big day, I was also impressed by how quickly I received my wedding photos. Herman and his team sent them to me in 2 months. My wedding photographs as well as our experience with working with Herman really exceeded all of my expectations. Both my husband and I are so thankful to have him as one of our vendors. When I look back at my photos, I can't help but smile. They are everything I wanted and more! I highly recommend Herman to anyone looking for a wedding photographer. I'm already looking forward to working with him in the near future.

my attention. Not too many fellow Au's out there :) Such a small world, Herman was my day of coordinators wedding photographer as well so I knew I'd be in good hands. He was easy to connect with via email/text, responded promptly. He was also very accommodating to the packages and what we were looking for. We had our engagement photos done at Crystal Cove and our wedding at Noor's. I'm so happy with all the photos that came out and he even captured the cuteness of our fur kids. We got preview photos within 2 weeks which was such a great surprise! He made us feel really comfortable and calm especially during the wedding day because the last thing you'll want to think about is what is the photographer capturing. The team is very easy to work with, we even booked photo booth with Herman for the reception. It was a very long day starting with traditional tea ceremony in the early am to western ceremony in the late afternoon into the evening. Herman and his team did such a great job and keeping up with the energy with us too! Last minute I added additional hours for day of and I'm so glad we made that decision so we could fully capture the entire day from beginning to end. So happy we choose Herman and his team in capturing our special day. Can't wait to see the rest of our wedding photos!

easiest decision we made in terms of booking our services for the wedding. Herman is patient and kind and really makes the session as easy and comfortable as he can for us. Definitely recommend him for all wedding photography!

ad been nothing but professional and worked tirelessly with us capturing all the heart warming beautiful moments we’ll cherish for a lifetime. We also got our sneak peeks within a week and we’ve been getting nothing but high praises from all over. Thanks Herman and everyone who worked with us!

u like to help you remember your wedding. We didn’t really understand it at first, but now that we’re done with our wedding, we finally understood how important it is to have a photographer like Herman. The quality and care Herman takes into his work and planning really shows. When we worked with Herman, he was always one step ahead of our schedule and always early. He actually arrived to our venue quite early, and took pictures of the area before he started our photoshoot. It was extremely comforting to know that he had everything under control and already had a schedule on-top of our provided schedule for the day. Herman really tries to make sure your personality and style are captured in your pictures. He made sure to ask ahead of time on the style we’re looking for, and during the shoot you can tell he really tries ensure he captures that style. He also suggested a few poses that were not our normal style, but when we saw the results, we were so thankful for his suggestions. For our wedding photoshoot, he actually surprised us with extra props that matched extremely well with our theme and personalities. The thoughtfulness was such a relief during a hectic day, and made the whole experience even more fun and memorable. Bottom line, Herman is extremely professional, and also friendly; we could tell that he wanted us to have the best pictures and have fun taking them.

out real then having us pose like robots. His team is just as sweet. We definitely recommend his work to future newlyweds! For our contract he worked with our budget and we still got our vision!

s and patient with my husband and me, despite our busy schedules. Photography and cinematography were expenses we knew we wanted to splurge on, and Herman's rates were well worth it. He was friendly, professional, and didn't pressure us when we met with him. We did our engagement session with Herman too. Again, Herman was so patient with us when we were scouting locations. When we found the perfect one, he was willing to drive out to a pretty far location. Herman made us feel comfortable and we felt like naturals at the end of the shoot despite this being our first time being photographed professionally. He was so easy to work with. We were so happy with how the engagement photos turned out. We truly saw the talent and vision in Herman's work. On the day of the wedding, Herman and his team (we had 2 photographers and 2 videographers) were so awesome. It was our first time working with videographers but they also mirrored Herman's professionalism and patience. Herman always came up with new ideas for the photos and knew what he wanted to shoot/film (we even did a mannequin challenge with the wedding party). Herman and his team made the whole experience fun and easy. Words cannot describe how professional and hardworking this team was. We definitely got our monies worth with Herman. We highly, highly, highly recommend Herman and his team.

hers, Herman was one of the candidates that we really liked based on his portfolios, so we scheduled an appointment with him. Our first meeting with him was the main reason we decided to go with him. He is very passionate about what he does and very patient when it comes to listening to our needs. These are the most important traits we think a great photographer should have. He also helped us out with our budget. On the wedding day, he and his team lived up to our expectations and did a tremendous job on every little detail. He showed up early and started taking getting ready pictures right away. All these little actions definitely help relieve a lot of stress from the bridal party. Even though taking pictures can be awkward, Herman definitely made it much more natural. One thing that stood out was that whenever or wherever we were on the wedding day, we always saw Herman and his team capturing every moment for us. We never had to look around, and Hermans's team was also kind enough to help guests take pictures on their iPhones, which the guests all love and appreciate so much! After the wedding, we heard that sometimes pictures take over 6 months to edit. However, we received ours just after two weeks, and they were all so beautiful! Thank you for helping us capture our big day! If you are looking for high quality and are willing to spend a little bit extra on photographers. He and his team will be a great choice!

erman is such a professional in his business dealings, but warm and gentle at the same time. He answered every email, text, phone call promptly and with patience. He handled his photography the same way. Each photo he captured was of beautiful quality and selection. Most of the time, I wasn't even aware he was snapping photos, so I never felt nervous or awkward. His choices of what to capture showed elegance and class without being too stiff and formal. He is a photographic magician! He can make anything and anyone look stunning and classy through his lens! What a blessing to have found Herman and it is because of his grace and talent that I will have beautiful reminders of the memories my husband and I made on our wedding day. We love you, Herman!

true to their profession. You can see the passion for photography in their photos. My husband and I do not take a lot photographs, but we felt very comfort with Herman. Our posed, formal photos are just as beautiful as the candid ones. Herman is easily accessible; answers email promptly and flexible with timing. Plus his team knows how to deal with difficult family members. 5 stars!!!

ssional, friendly, and most importantly always made us feel at ease! Herman came highly recommended by our venue, The Athenaeum at Cal Tech, as well as many of our vendors, and we would 100% recommend him to anyone. All of our photos so far have turned out beautiful and we know they will be a constant, beautiful reminder of our beginning for many years to come. Thank you, Herman & team!!!

with my numerous questions, showed me a few portfolios that displayed a great variety of photos, and worked with me on selecting the right package for us that worked with our budget. He was quick in responding to my emails during my wedding planning process and was flexible when it came to the wedding timeline. On the wedding day, Herman and his team were prompt, courteous and very helpful (they even helped our MCs during the reception – which they were very thankful for!). My husband and I are camera shy but Herman and his team helped us feel comfortable – especially during our First Look! After the wedding, he posted a couple of beautiful pictures on Instagram and sent me a link to a sneak peek of our wedding photos ~ the photos are AMAZING and VERY BEAUTIFUL!!! I’ve gotten a lot of compliments from my family and friends. I’m very thankful for Herman and his team for their awesome talent!

o far, he has sent us a few preview pictures and they looked really great! Some of the background were just regular grassy knolls in my eyes but it translated so well in the photos. I think Herman really knows how to play with the colors and lights and how to make our poses not appear too contrived. I put a lot of importance on the photos because it’s a whirlwind of a day… I can’t even remember speaking to certain people… I want to look at my photos and remember how much fun we had. My husband and I are not keen on videos so we didn’t get that service, but of course, it’s a preference. I think even just the pictures would be wonderful though. I am already very excited to see the rest. I will treasure those beautiful memories forever. Thank you, Herman and team!

re the random and candid moments that we would not have seen otherwise. During our first meeting we told him about our vision for the wedding and how the wedding would be split in two events in one day. He was a recommended vendor for our ceremony vendor, so we went in with high hopes. Once we told him about our other event (a Chinese Banquet), he assured us that it would not be a problem! Throughout the process he was super professional, very nice, and from what we have seen so far extremely talented! I can't wait to see the rest of the photos from our special day. Thank you to Herman Au Photography for capturing memories from our wedding day!

l he is very passionate. Throughout the wedding planning, Herman has always been very responsive to our emails and patient in answering our questions. I was not very comfortable in front of the camera but Herman was really good at coaching us through. On the wedding day, Herman and his team made it very easy and stress-free for us, the bridal party and our family. We couldn't have picked a better to photographer for our special day.

nd videos were the memories we will cherish, for years to come! Through his lens, Herman was able to narrate our love story with each frame. When we watched our same day edit video during our banquet, it literally brought me to tears. I can’t believe this was our wedding day story, captured so perfectly in this three-minute video. Love his work!

is very easy to work with and knows exactly what kind of shots my husband and I are looking for. A lot if ours friends were also very impressed with our engagement and wedding photos. We will cherish them for years to come.
