seriously don’t even know where to begin. We could not have been more disappointed in Hey Jimmy after being SO excited by all their videos and recordings. What they advertised is ...
completely false. Jimmy hired random people to play at our wedding, and it was really NOT a good experience.
Some terrible things include:
- Sound checks were not made which resulted in both the bridesmaids entrance as well as the first speech screeching
- Kirkbrides had to request that the sound be lowered as it was not checked and was so loud. Gordon Green said they have never experienced the sound levels which then distorted everything.
- The songs L+A requested were not played. Example is they wanted Pink Pony to play when bridesmaids came in which they did not. The "must play" list that was sent and was not followed. This was in addition to our phone call with you reviewing the requests. It was as though the playlist wasn’t reviewed or honored.
- My Way and NY NY which played early in the evening and had special meaning were played again at the end of the night. Why play again when so many other songs should have been played? And it took away the special moment when they were first played.
- The male vocalist was off key on a lot of songs. You could not understand him. Some songs were completely off beat and tempo as well.
- The female vocalist was better but not reflective of what was shown on line.
- The horn section SAT the WHOLE time. Horns were added on as we wanted the energy. There was no energy.
- We requested no slow songs but they played anyway.
The DJ did not play the songs we requested- ie: Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga, among others.
- The announcements were not made so guests didn’t know about several of the key items we wanted pointed out- ie: Photo Booth, cake, East Coast Truck, McDonalds

ey Jimmy! He had been to two weddings where they played and I actually had a co-worker who had them at theirs as well. It was simply a no-brainer for us and boy are we glad that we had them!
They were fun, engaging and knew how to get the crowd on the dance floor. I've had SO many people tell me how much fun they had at the wedding and it was certainly a huge part thanks to Hey Jimmy. Several people have reached out wanting their name for future events.
One of the other things I appreciated was that my dad had inquired about having a mashup of two songs for our "father-daughter" dance. Jimmy immediately went to work on putting this together and shared it with us beforehand to make sure it was perfect. I thought that was beyond thoughtful and so appreciated.

Even though we had a small wedding, the dance floor was full up until the very end. Our guests kept on talking about how great the music was (even now!). They played all of our must-haves and also played enough variety to keep everyone engaged. Having that mix is so important! Can't recommend enough.

wanted a band and I wanted a DJ so we compromised and got both! Hey Jimmy was so easy to work with and got everyone on the dance floor. They let me request songs but also knew what songs to play to keep the momentum going. I would absolutely highly recommend them for anyone!! was so patient during the planning process when we constantly changed our minds about what elements of the band we wanted - we ended up adding on a horn section and two additional female singers - SO worth the money! We also had a lot of requests - do not play songs, must play songs, intro songs, announcements, etc. It was a lot of detail and HJ didn't miss a beat! (Pun intended!) They even let my brother play drums for a song that was meaningful to us!
Hands down, the thing that everyone was talking about after the wedding (and is still talking about!) was our band - the dance floor was never empty, and our guests didn't want the night to end!
