on June 5, 2021. The custom wedding website he provides is super helpful! My husband and I had fun filling out the wedding questionnaire/playlist and choosing all our music with Lee. The music Lee played from cocktail hour to dinner to the dance party was perfect! He even helped us out with a Star Wars themed La Hora Loca. He also provided amazing lighting for our reception. It was the party of our dreams!

Quail Ranch in Simi Valley is an expansive outdoor venue, and he and his crew set up the sound system for each area - ceremony, cocktail hour, and then reception - perfectly and unobtrusively, including accommodating a live keyboardist for the ceremony. The entire venue, the whole day, had continuous, lovely music as guests moved about. I promise you will be happy and have no worries if you hire Hey Mister DJ!

He was patient, flexible, and incredibly helpful when it came to helping everything flow so effortlessly and naturally. t researching DJ’s. And boy, did I RESEARCH! I stumbled joint Hey Mr. DJ and was amused that that was the title of one of the songs by my favorite band. That didn’t matter though because Lee seriously blew the competition out of the water. It wasn’t just his obvious talent or skill, but when he agreed to meet with me and my husband, we felt so at ease with him, as if we were meeting an old friend for coffee. I seriously loved how he didn’t try to push anything on us. He even gave us a book on finding the right DJ to help us make our decision, even if that decision meant hiring someone else (spoiler alert: it didn’t). Putting together the playlist was a breeze. The actual day of our wedding, so many things went wrong. I’m usually the picture of calm and collected, but I was a bundle of stress and nerves. The second the music started though? It was like all of that stress instantly melted away. Lee did a PHENOMENAL job as our DJ and MC. I spent a majority of the night on the dance floor because he really listened to what we/the crowd wanted. Oh and as an added bonus, he did our lighting, too! We didn’t even talk much about it because it was a last-minute addition, but he nailed what we were looking for. Hiring Lee was definitely one of the best decisions we made for our wedding!

Be sure to be very clear about what is a must play vs. the general ideas list. We made sure that the last 3 songs were must play, and he was sure to play them. Throughout the event, Lee went around and made sure that the speakers were the right level and that everything was working and not too quiet or too loud. During the ceremony, he mic'd the quartet and mic'd the officiant. Providing a mic for the quartet is a MUST! This was his idea, and it was so much better having them amplified. Both our venue loved him and the wedding planner loved him as well. He is a genius at reading the crowd and choosing the PERFECT next song. He kept everyone dancing and singing the entire night.

Lee was able to keep the crowd dancing all night (including myself, who had a broken ankle). He was never cheesy and was a great MC. To top things off he created an extremely sweet video that was completely unexpected and one of my favorite things captured during that day. Best wedding DJ of all time!!

down where he helped us begin putting together a playlist to the actual wedding day where he had a solution for pretty much any unplanned obstacle that presented itself, I felt at ease knowing Lee had it handled. On a professional level, His knowledge of Sound Equipment and potential issues caused by Venue Limitations is extensive. He was asking questions about things I never would have considered! I can't stress enough the level of ease I felt knowing Lee had things handled. If we wanted a song that wasn't in Lee's library, he added it. If we were having trouble figuring out songs to cut cake to, he had a solution. Whenever possible he communicated directly with our Wedding Planners which allowed us to focus energy on other aspects of the wedding. The positive energy and professionalism Lee brought to the wedding planning experience was top notch. I would 100% recommend him for any event. Thank you Lee!

Probably the only vendor that ever said that to me all year! The only negative was that we didn't want to do a first dance bc we didn't want to have a weddingy type wedding. We had explained the no first dance thing from the start. More than once. We sort of got talked into it after dinner and then awkwardly stood around waiting to do it while people stared at us and then danced to a song we don't remember. Probably mostly our fault for just not saying NO but we felt a really pressured. I guess the venue wanted to clear the dining room and move people into the other room or something. We really didn't care where people went and had made arrangements with the venue to let people stay in the dining room. We had tried to set up a lounge type atmosphere with nooks and different patios anyway. I do feel like we had strongly communicated that the reception would be casual and that we didn't want to do a first dance so it was a little bit awkward that it came up the night of. Not a huge deal.

Their website is incredibly easy to use and allows you to create a custom music list. Still, most impressive was his skills on the big day. During the planning process, we provided Mark with a list of about 200 songs to give him a feel for what kinda music we were looking to play including specific songs such as first dance, cake cutting, grand re-entrance, etc.. We gave him one requirement: keep everyone dancing and having a good time. Mark by far nailed it. A solid 75% of our guests were on the dance floor moving all night for almost 5 hrs straight (breaks for dinner, cake cutting, etc). Alcohol may have been a factor for our guests ;)

Lee did a great job of pulling songs from our playlist while adding in some of his own (great) choices when he felt like it was needed. So many of our guests commented on how much they loved the music at our wedding! Also, the lighting package we ended up renting through Lee worked out great. It really brought an otherwise boring room to life. There were many things I was stressed about leading up to the big day, but the DJ was not one of them - I had full confidence in Lee and he really did a wonderful job.
