High Contrast Photography

(Forgive me for copy/pasting my review I posted on other wedding sites, it’s long and detailed. 😅) I can’t recommend Sarah enough. Seriously. Above and beyond doesn’t even begin to cover it. Her photos are always outstanding, she’s fantastic to work with, very easy to talk to, very comfortable to be around. Super professional and such an amazing person. Our wedding had So many stressful moments - seriously, it was one thing after the other, but Sarah handled EVERYTHING. I mean EVERYTHING. She was absolutely incredible and I don’t know how I would’ve gotten through without her because honestly she saved the wedding. The venue kept screwing things up and I cried multiple times throughout night but she never left my side. My fingers got seriously burned on a hot iron an hour before ceremony- she was there to hold me while I sobbed, keep my hand under cool water, get me burn cream, bandages… then she did my make up for me. And it was Beautiful. She made me look how I always dreamed I’d look on my wedding day. I know nothing about make up and she just took over and dried my tears and made me look amazing. She helped me into my gown, and crinoline as well. She gave me a thousand hugs through out the night every time I started crying at another venue mess up. When the venue gave me food I was allergic to and hadn’t ordered, she fixed it and found something I Could eat. When the venue put on the Wrong lights (I specifically said only yellow lights because bright white gives me severe migraines) she fixed it. When I got a migraine from the wrong lights she was there with an ice pack, my medicine and another hug. When the venue broke our $300+ custom handmade cake topper, she was running around trying to find out who did it (I’ve been fighting with venue about it - Padonia Park, just don’t hire them. Trust me) Sarah was absolutely incredible the entire night. She somehow managed to take care of me the entire time and still take beautiful photos of me and my husband and everything. You will not regret hiring her. I wish I could hire her to run my life for me. Haha. Truly, Sarah, Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Sarah and her assistant Jeff were amazing! We were supposed to get married in 2020, but covid.. we were able to move our date and contract to 2021 with no hassle or extra charge. Day of, Sarah showed up ready to go. She immediately began scoping out the area to get the best shots. It was obvious she’s been doing this a long time and def knew what she was doing. Not only was she a great photographer, she helped to keep me calm, and helped ensure we were staying on track with our timeline. Her and Jeff even stayed later than they were supposed to since we had a late start due to Mother Nature- that was very much appreciated! The night of the wedding Sarah posted 4 sneak peak pictures and omg, they were AMAZING!! I shared them with friends and family and they were just as impressed as I was! Our wedding was a month ago and i still have guests talking about those pictures. It’s hard to describe in words, but the lighting, angles, background… everything was perfect. And that’s only the first 4 pictures. I can’t wait to see the rest! Sarah (and Jeff) was so great from start to finish and I highly recommend her and High Contrast Photography!

High Contrast Photography was our favorite vendor from our wedding! Sarah was so professional and friendly! She was amazing on the day of the wedding too. She made sure I was happy and taken care of, while still making sure everything went smoothly and according to our plans! Overall, I have no negative things to say about it! I loved our experience with High Contrast Photography!

Sarah and Marissa went above and beyond on our wedding day. Not only did the capture gorgeous pictures but they helped with many different odds and ends along the way including fixing my dress! Sarah is extremely knowledgeable not only about photography but everything related to weddings. I asked her many questions before our wedding day and she truly is a wedding expert. Sarah and Marissa were both friendly, professional and a delight to work with. Sarah kept us on schedule and was able to get so many pictures taken in such a short amount of time during our cocktail hour. Sarah and her team are incredible and I am so thankful they were able to capture our wedding. Our wedding was one week before Sarah's own wedding and she was still completely focused on us and I was so thankful she was willing to photograph our wedding even though her wedding was right around the corner. Sarah did our engagement session as well and even though it was over a year ago I still love looking back at our pictures because she did such a great job capturing us as a couple. If you work with Sarah she will be 100% invested in capturing your wedding and she will be ready to assist with whatever mishap may occur on your wedding day!

Sarah & Anne helped to make our rescheduled wedding day one that to cherish. Between Sarah having a sewing kit for last repairs on my bridesmaids’ dresses to Anne having fun with the guys at their pre-wedding location, these two took away any stress we may have been feeling. My husband & I had a lot of fun taking our pictures after the wedding (“closer, closer, now kiss...& stop”). And the pictures...wow wow wow. Just stunning!!! We can’t wait to see the rest of them! We highly recommend High Contrast Photography! They will not only dazzle you with their talent, but also with their caring, supportive way. Sarah was the only vendor who sent emails the week of the wedding to get us hyped! The attention to detail is A+++!

Sarah was absolutely amazing to work with! From the first time we met her at an open house, it felt like you were talking to close friend. It made it extremely easy to get along with her and to trust that everything was going to be great on the big day. Sarah was also fantastic about talking through different options. I had initially wanted to do a receiving line at the end of our ceremony, but that would have caused us to miss some incredible sunset shots. She helped walk me through different options to get everything I wanted and the sunset pictures were some of the best from the night. On the day of, her assistant was phenomenal taking the time to engage in conversation about werewolves with our flower girl. Some people might not have taken that time, but he did and it was noticed and appreciated by her mom and me. I can't say enough fantastic things about working with Sarah and the amazing pictures we have from the day :)

Absolutely amazing team! Sarah is awesome to work with; she is organized, fun, and excellent with communication from start to finish. She works with all your suggestions but does what is right artistically and I felt reassured by her knowledge straight away. After our first meeting with Sarah, we were ready to sign the contract. In a nutshell, the girl has got it going on. She is professional, knows her craft and takes charge to ensure that we had the best photos ever! For our wedding we had Sarah and Kate, an awesome team! They stopped traffic - literally - to get us a jaw-dropping photo in downtown, Christmas-lit Havre de Grace. From the moment I met Sarah for our initial consultation, I knew she was the one I wanted to have as our photographer. As a photographer myself, I was very picky about the quality of the images that would record our wedding. Her bubbly, friendly personality and passion for her art form shines through and she genuinely cares about the details of your story, your partnership, and the event and all that it means to you. Her second photographer Kate was equally personable and sweet, and both were extremely professional and discreet while capturing fabulous details, portraits, candids, and ceremony shots. Our engagement session came with our package and it was absolutely worth the sticky heat in mid summer! Sarah keeps the mood light and fun while keeping things moving and efficient--like wrangling large groups to their places. I couldn't imagine our day any different--it was perfect! We couldn't have found a better photographer for our engagement and wedding photos. Sarah is an absolute pleasure to work with and just so much fun to be around! My wife and I hired Sarah and her team at High Contrast Photography to photograph our wedding this past September, and could not be happier with our decision. Sarah was absolutely fantastic. Her communication skills were unrivaled by any other vendor we worked with, and her passion for wedding photography is abundantly clear as soon as you meet her. She does such a great job on the day of the wedding (even arriving 15 minutes early!). Her creativity and organization in particular really showed, as she made sure to get the pictures we wanted while also making sure our families and extended families knew where to be. Our families and guests even noticed how organized and easy she was to work with. We also were so pleased with how quickly we got the photos back! To get four fully edited pictures of our wedding by 11pm that night was amazing! Then to have another 50 or so online on Facebook within a week, and the full allotment within 5 weeks is unheard of! And the pictures turned out absolutely beautiful! The problem we have now is trying to decide which pictures to hang up in our house because we absolutely love so many of them!! We were so thrilled to have had Sarah as our wedding photographer, and cannot say enough great things about her! If you're still looking for a wedding photographer, look no further, hire Sarah!

Sarah and her team were absolutely amazing! Words cannot describe how happy we were that we found them! Sarah went so far above and beyond a wedding photographer's responsibilities. She helped dress me, kept me calm, practically ran my wedding, told us where to go, scoped out an amazing place to take photos, and reminded us to eat! Sarah is the best!!! If you are looking for a wedding photographer seriously look no more! She is super organized and helps keep the day running smoothly even with me, the bride, slightly freaking out at points. She kept me calm and made sure we got all the shots I wanted! We had a large bridal party and she made sure we got all our one on one shots plus the big group shots while keeping everyone on task, which was not easy. Did I also mention she is super nice, got a long with all my bridal party, remembered everyones names and got sneak peak pictures back to me the same night!!! I mean you really cannot ask for more. My sneak peaks are so amazing, I can’t wait see the entire album!

Oh my goodness, I don't even know where to begin, other than Sarah from High Contrast Photography is wonderful! Sarah took my boudoir pictures, and I was so sad that I had already booked a wedding photographer prior to meeting her! I would have definitely used her for my wedding day. Sarah was so professional, and had a way of making me feel so confident and great in all of my photos. She made the boudoir shoot so fun, and I would definitely do it again! She is also very affordable! My husband also loved the photos. We received a leather-bound book of the photos I chose, as well as a password-protected online gallery of all of the photos. I would definitely recommend High Contrast Photography, and I will definitely use her in the future for my photography needs. Thanks so much Sarah!

My husband and I cannot say enough positive things about Sarah and her team. From our engagement session, to our wedding, Sarah was readily available and answered questions in a timely manner. The day of our wedding, Sarah and Kate were prompt, professional, and kept our day on schedule and running smoothly. They worked efficiently with close attention to detail. Sarah and Kate checked in on me and my husband to make sure we had everything we needed, bustled my dress, and even taught guests how to do a dance at the reception. Our photos turned out better than we could have ever imagined! I would highly recommend High Contrast Photography to anyone looking for professional photos.

This review is being written two days after our daughters wedding without seeing a final product but only 4 preview pics on the HCP Facebook page. We can’t say enough positive things about Sarah and her staff. 5 stars doesn’t even cover their professionalism and how hard they worked all day before, during and after the event. We highly recommend their services to anyone who wants to capture a once in a lifetime occasion. You won’t be disappointed.

Sarah and her team are AMAZING!!! I cannot say enough positive things about her. Sarah photographed my sister-in-law's wedding, and we knew we had to have her photograph ours too. She is so talented and takes the most amazing shots. Our wedding pictures are back and they are PHENOMANAL! We couldn't be more pleased. Not only are we pleased with our pictures, but we are so pleased with the experience we had working with Sarah. She is incredibly sweet and made everything so stress-free for us leading up to the wedding and the day of. On the day of the wedding, she did an excellent job of coordinating and taking charge so that pictures did not take up a lot of our time, which was appreciated since the day goes by so quickly. We are so glad that Sarah was available for our wedding day and we are forever grateful to her for doing such a lovely job capturing our special day! This review is loooong overdue, as in - my husband and I are celebrating our 3rd anniversary today - overdue. Nonetheless, I still feel the need to share just. how. awesome. Sarah and everyone at HCP were at our wedding. I’ve been to several weddings since ours in 2015, and by far we’ve had the best photographer. Not only do they have incredible talent for taking photos that commemorate the event for (actual) years to come, but everyone at HCP has a great day-of attitude. Sarah knew how to efficiently and effectively take charge of the crowds of family members, get those portraits taken care of, and move on to couples photos with plenty of time to spare. I have not met another photographer yet who can do that as well as she can. Plus! Sarah and Matt taught our entire party (including Fabian & I) different dance moves. I mean a photographer who knows when & how to take charge, shoot amazing memorable photos, AND make sure you have a blast at your wedding - what more could you ask for? Fabian & I still highly recommend (and tell all our newly engaged friends) about High Contrast Photography even 3 years after the fact! Thank you, Sarah & HCP!

Looking back, Sarah Koermer and High Contrast Photography are two of the brightest lights throughout my wedding process. From engagement photo session through post-wedding emails, Sarah was and continues to be incredibly friendly, professional, and caring with her attention to detail and drive to make her customers happy. What made working with Sarah and her second wedding day photographer, Kate, so great was Sarah's experience with our venue and other vendors. My husband and I married at the Vandiver Inn in Havre de Grace, and Sarah knew exactly what shots she wanted and how to achieve them -- We didn't have to worry about a thing! I especially appreciate that she accommodated my visual preferences in her final photo edit. I felt like she truly understood what we wanted, and she made that happen. Our wedding photos are truly stunning and capture the warmth and love that my husband and I felt on our wedding day with each other and with our friends and families. We get so many compliments on how amazing our photos look, and I always make sure that everyone knows to credit Sarah and HCP. High Contrast is awesome! There really is no more to say. We booked them for our wedding at the Vandiver Inn in Havre de Grace MD while at a bridal show at the Vandiver and from the moment we met Sara and her team we instantly connected. From there Sara and team executed everything better than we could have imagined. from the engagement pictures to the big day photos, what we have seen so far has really taken our breath away. We cannot recommend them more to anyone in need of photos.

High Contrast Photography is an amazing company. First of all the pictures were spectacular. The level of professionalism was outstanding. Sarah has the aura of competence that helps put you at ease. Her experience really shines through. Her and her team are extremely friendly and well coordinated. A great wedding photographer does more than just take pictures. They know where the groom is when they have the bride outside, they knowing when guests are going to start showing up, they chase the sunset for the perfect picture, they check up on the newly weds, and so much more. High Contrast Photography is a company comprised of great wedding photographers. Also the way she packages your pictures is fantastic!!

We cannot say enough wonderful things about HCP. Sarah and her assistant Matt were just INCREDIBLE. From the moment I met Sarah, she blew me away with her professionalism and most of all, her amazing talent. She helped keep me organized up to the day-of with everything I wanted and how the day was going to go. When the day came, Sarah kept me calm when hair and makeup was running an hour behind, my mom was having a necklace crisis, and everyone was needing me for something. She even helped bustle my dress at the reception :) Sarah and Matt kept the day flowing smoothly and got all of the amazing pictures we wanted. They kept us on schedule and made photo-taking so much fun! When it came time for the reception, Matt showed us all how to do the wobble!! They are an incredible team. They captured all of the sweet and fun moments we had throughout our whole day. We cannot speak any higher of them. Sarah is an absolute MASTER of her profession. We could not be happier with our photographers and the beautiful pictures we have to reflect our fairytale wedding. Finding the right photographer is one of the hardest and most stressful parts of planning a wedding. Once I met Sarah I knew immediately that I had found the perfect photographer. Not only were her photos incredibly beautiful but she couldn't have been any nicer! She was so organized and answered all e-mails very promptly. Such an easy person to work with! On the day of our wedding she was fantastic, a true professional! The photos are amazing...I cannot stop looking at them. We cannot say enough good things about Sarah! She went above and beyond her roles as a photographer, from keeping our somewhat annoying groomsmen in line to helping bustle my dress :) She found the best angles and ways to make our venue look even more amazing than it already was. I seriously think I look at our wedding pictures everyday, because she captured every aspect I could ever want. Matt was also amazing to work with!He too went far above his duties by Putting boutonnières on and straightening ties! You are in the best of hands when working with them and we couldn't be happier!

We absolutely loved having Sarah as our wedding photographer this past May! She went above and beyond in many ways to make sure we had excellent photos to always cherish. She made sure that our day went as smoothly as possible, despite the rain. Sarah worked hard through the rain at our ceremony site and never once complained. She is very good at what she does. She was direct with us and our families, which we really appreciated because it helped everything run smoothly. Our photos turned out awesome! We love them and are so happy with them. I barely have words to express how fantastic it is to work with Sarah and High Contrast. From the very first meeting we had with her we knew we were in good hands! We found HCP on the "Preferred Vendors" list from our venue, the Vandiver in HdG. At the time I didn't know what I wanted-- except that I definitely wanted awesome photos. Every bride has her "one thing" and for me that was photography. We made an appointment and met with Sarah at a restaurant and it kind of felt like a first date. A good first date, the kind where you click. My husband and I are super nerds and kind of antisocial so we were nervous. We probably said some really weird stuff, but Sarah rolled with it. At some point in the conversation Dr. Who was mentioned and we fell pretty hard after that. When it came time to talk business Sarah was no-nonsense. She explained everything from what to expect to what she needed to know from us, to cost breakdowns with different options. She made everything easy to understand for those of us who have never had to plan a wedding before, and she made me feel like I could trust her. She wasn't sugarcoating anything or trying to sneak in hidden fees in the contract. Here's the price, here's what you get. Boom. Before we knew it, we were trudging around in the snow with Sarah a few months later getting our adorable wintery engagement photos and I left that shoot feeling like my "one thing" was taken care of. Brides-to-be can relate to how important that feeling is! Even if everything else I planned burned down, I knew we would have beautiful pictures of us standing in front of the flames. WELL spoiler-alert, it didn't burn down! Our Harry Potter/Dr. Who themed wedding went off without a hitch and MERLIN'S BEARD are the pictures beautiful! Sarah and Kate were THE BEST PICK for us because they understood the nerdery in the details and they documented things that our guests might not even have noticed! AND they wore the "Daily Prophet" badges I made them with the true enthusiasm of fangirls! By the way, they take beautiful pictures of "normal" weddings too! HCP was true to their word, professional, personable, and honestly one of the only vendors I worked with that didn't make me want to tear my hair out. They were the easiest choice that I made and one of the best ones. I just received my album (after huge delays caused by MY revisions) and it is unreasonably gorgeous. My "one thing" turned out to be everything I could have hoped for! Thank you HCP!!

My husband and I had a unique wedding planning experience. We planned for a little over a year before finding out that our venue was closing due to the owner committing a number of crimes related to his finances/taxes/etc., 55 days before our wedding. In an obviously stressful situation, Sarah was not only professional, but extremely understanding, helpful, caring, and positive. Re-planning a wedding isn't exactly ideal, but she was completely on board right away, sending me suggestions, locations, and personal recommendations to ensure we would turn our experience around into a great one. We had to pick a new date (making sure all of our vendors were available) and Sarah didn't blink an eye - even though that clearly meant she had been turning down potential weddings on our original date, and ended up being free after all! Anyway, all of that is just added bonuses of working with Sarah! I doubt most people will deal with the same issues we did, and I definitely didn't start looking for a photographer with the mind set of "I wonder how they handle chaos and disaster!" ... But it's great to have someone who can work through that stress with you and take a personal interest, past just saying "Let me know when you rebook so I can come take pictures." In regards to her ACTUAL JOB!!- Sarah and Matt were the best. Sarah is SO organized, gets in the zone, and gets everything done. My husband and groomsmen fell in love with Matt- no joke, I think they all have crushes on him :) And I don't blame them! They were both so fun, lighthearted, and pleasant to be around and work with- while staying so professional and great at their jobs. I received a "sample" of EIGHTY photos within the first week and every photo within about 4 weeks. (Granted, rescheduling for February meant I did get married in a non-wedding season, so I know it was a little easier for her timing wise for editing and such!) EVERYONE has commented on how great the photographers were, how professional, efficient, etc., and I kept seeing them pop up to capture the perfect candid moments that I was noticing during the day. Overall, through all of our planning craziness, I have to say that Sarah was such a positive aspect of the whole thing, down to the last 30 minutes where we convinced her and Matt to stay and get on the dance floor. (We had booked them to be leaving right before the last 30 minutes). Our photos are perfect, the day was amazing, and High Contrast Photography would be the best decision you could make in wedding planning. :)

From planning our day to sending us our AMAZING photo album, Sarah has been so attentive, professional, and is such a fantastic photographer! Sarah is absolutely amazing. She made my husband and I feel comfortable, and her photos are STUNNING. She had about 4 photos up on Facebook within about 2 hours of the reception ending. And she had about 40 photos up on Facebook within the week after our wedding. She made sure she captured our fun personalities. She is so personable and funny, yet she also means business and kept everyone in line for our group photos. I can't wait to see the album she makes for us, and I would highly recommend Sarah to anyone who is getting married. Her prices are very reasonable and her work is just breathtaking. It was easy to communicate with Sarah and she always responded very quickly to all of my questions and last minute details. On the day of the wedding, Sarah and her assistant took all of the pre-wedding pictures of both myself and my groom. The photographers split their time between the two rooms and captured beautiful pictures without being intrusive. Sarah gave us great directions when taking our formal pictures and worked hard to get those pictures completed as quickly as possible while shooting amazing photos. The night of our wedding she even posted a few of our pictures on Facebook. It was wonderful to instantly see a few of the shots that she was able to capture. Within a few days, she posted 40 pictures on Facebook! It was so exciting for our friends and family to see a glimpse of what our wedding pictures looked like. Sarah had finished editing our entire gallery of wedding pictures in about one month. She had taken over 600 photographs! It was such a wonderful experience to go back and relive our wedding day through our photographs. My husband and I were amazed at how beautiful our photographs had turned out. Sarah is truly an amazing photographer with a great eye! As part of our contract, we also receives a disc of all of our photographs. Sarah told me that she would burn the photographs onto a disc and get them out in the mail within the week. I was blown away with the package that arrived at my door. Sarah had created the cutest little portfolio case. She created a beautiful cover with a wraparound photograph from our wedding day as the cover. Our names and wedding date were also printed on the front cover. Inside was another beautiful picture from our wedding day and the disc even had a wedding picture. When Sarah said that we would be receiving a disc, I never imagined it would be packaged in this way!!! My husband and I are blown away with Sarah’s quality of work and customer service. We can’t wait to see what she has in store for our wedding album.

Where do I begin? I began looking at High Contrast Photography because they had photographed a wedding of a girl I know and her pictures were beautiful. When my fiancé and I met Sarah we were pleased to know how together she was and that she personally attended every wedding that she booked as one of the photographers. Sarah was wonderful to work with, she responded to emails in a timely fashion (even if I always did not), she accommodated last minute changes to our timeline without any issues and her and Matt were just a pleasure to have at our wedding. Sarah ended up helping me get dressed due to running out of time during our reception set up, so I was unable to get all of the pictures that I wanted of me getting dressed with my mom and my bridal party. Sarah managed to still incorporate my mom into the photos even though she wasn't dressed and using her at the end to make it look like she did all of the work. I am grateful to Sarah for this help! Sarah knew how important it was for my wife and I to have a preview before our ceremony, she took charge and got us both ready and we had our quick preview and the photos that she captured of our reactions are unbelievable, I cry every time I look at them. Going through our photos is like reliving that day all over again, including all of the laughs and tears. Sarah and Matt, April and I can not thank you two enough for all of your help and hard work on our wedding day. You two were amazing and we loved working with you and loved getting those perfect shots.

I met Sarah at the Havre de Grace Wedding Walk in 2014 and was immediately impressed with her portfolio and friendly manner. I was just starting to plan for my wedding at that time and had not even picked a venue or date. However, it didn't take long to realize that High Contrast Photography was the photographer for us. Sarah's prices were exceedingly better than all the other photographers in the area, but more importantly, her quality far exceeded them as well. My husband and I just got married in April 2015 and Sarah plus her assistants, Matt and Kate, could not have pleased us more. They were hilarious and so easy to work with, but still focused on capturing our special day. Our bridal party and even guests mentioned how impressed they were with their quality. Sarah, Matt, and Kate managed to capture everything and yet still stay unobtrusive. They managed to capture the very essence of our day in their pictures. Sarah was also extremely prompt in getting our photos published and our album printed even during her busiest time of year. The laughter & love of all our friends and family will be forever locked in those photographs for my husband and I to cherish in the years to come. I would 100% recommend High Contrast Photography to anyone getting married in the area.

Sarah was incredible at our October wedding. If I had to do it all over again, one of the first things I'd do would be to make sure Sarah was available. From the very first, Sarah was so easy to coordinate with. She is probably the most responsive vendor we had. She would always answer emails quickly and everything was always clear. (Brides will appreciate this.) On the wedding day, Sarah and Kate were prompt, friendly, organized, unobtrusive, and cheerfully took every photo we wanted- both planned and unplanned. Sarah did a great job of making ourselves and our bridal party comfortable, giving exactly as much direction as we needed but no more. She also played double-duty as a dress train and veil position-er: not an easy job in the wind we had. We knew we were in good hands all day, and we are delighted with the photos we have received so far. They are absolutely gorgeous, and really reflect the beauty of our outdoor location and the love everyone felt that day. High Contrast Photography work is better than the portfolios of some photographers we looked at who charged three times the price! I am recommending Sarah and her team to everyone I know who is getting married in the area soon.

We had a blast working with Sarah and Matt! They were on time, professional and flexible and helped to make our wedding day special! It was pouring rain and Sarah was great at reassuring me that we would be able to still get all the pictures we want. They even offered their umbrella for some shots and stood outside and got wet to get the right picture. They helped to get our party going dancing the wobble and walked us through parts of the day! We love the albums, they came out awesome. Sarah was very receptive to adding pictures we wanted. They were delivered in a timely manner and very professionally done.
