I used this hotel for my wedding and oh this was the main headache of my whole wedding weekend. As bride they did not help or listen at all. I had bags to be handed out which was c...
ommunicated through email months before but then when dropping them off there was no note to hand out bags on my block. I then had to make phones calls and emails which finally after 3 hours they got the note in which my guest were already checking in at this point. Also, they charge for bags which already spending enough money with getting 2 suites per night and help book so many rooms this just made me even more mad. There was no AC in our room or my guests and the windows would not open so we all were sweating and couldn't wait to leave. I had guest get over charged in parking. I also, had multiple charges on my card that I needed to call a week after my wedding to get straightened out. The manager at the front desk was horrible, mentioned he did not have time for this and was "so busy", he was so mean to all my guest and myself. Do yourself a favor and get another hotel in the area even if you need to get a taxi. Trust me the taxi drive is worth it over this headache on your wedding weekend!!
If I had a choice, I would give them 0 ratings.
Here is the story, last year, Aug 2017- I went in to check out the Governors ballroom for my wedding in April 2018.
Everyone was nic...
e and my fiance and I booked it right away. There had been plenty wedding receptions there so I did not think I would have any issues.
Around November time frame, they had come back to me and asked me if I was open to moving the reception to another ballroom downstairs, I went to see it and said No.
My mom and I went around February 2018 (just two months before the wedding) and they told us we were moved downstairs, and not in the original ballroom. Obviously we panicked, after arguing for 2 weeks, the GM finally said we will have the ballroom in our contract. Our guest number had increased but at that point, we had to cut people down since we only had half ofthe ballroom.
A week before the reception, I went again and they had told us we were not going to have the ballroom until 5pm that day and my reception started at 6pm. I had decorators coming from Long Island with setting up a stage and 30 tables.
The decorators needed 3 hours at least to set up the ballroom.
At that time, we called every ballroom available for my wedding in a week, and thankfully found a good one- we cancelled the Hilton.
I did get my refund but they did make me a sign before getting the refund saying I could not take legal action.
Long story short, they had a bigger party after we had booked and signed the contract and screwed us over.
Worked with Molly on the event management team. She was super sweet and helpful. Hotel is clean and close to several wedding venues. And moderately priced rooms. Also - there was n...
o fee for distributing gift bags which was great, since I know other hotels aren't as willing to provide gift bags at no cost.
The Hilton Albany provided us with the perfect place for both bride and groom to get ready, as well as a beautiful location for all of our guests. The Bride’s suite overlooked the...
the NYS Capitol which gave a perfect backdrop for some incredible shots. The hotel staff, especially Shannon Canter, was the most accommodating and helpful throughout the entire process...from our initial booking to the morning-after breakfast. The proximity to everything in Albany is fantastic as well. Walking distance to lots of restaurants and bars, close to Patsy’s Barber Shop (a must-do for the groom on the morning of the wedding). And, if you don’t want to walk, their shuttle service is super fast and convenient. To top it all off, the Hilton Albany rate was just about the same as some of lower-end, budget, options available in Albany.
I used the Hilton Albany for my guest room & I also stayed there myself. The hotel is plenty of rooms to accommodate to any size wedding. It's located in a great area of Albany for...
all wedding venues in the area. I dealt with Jennifer & Jessica via email mostly and they were extremely helpful & always did anything they could to help. The hotel was recently renovated and the rooms are very nice & all have mini fridges which is nice. My wedding party got ready in one of their bi-level suites and it was perfect, the 1 level suite might have more space for a larger group to great ready. I'd definitely use this hotel again & recommend it to all brides getting married in the Albany area!!
