Hilton Garden Inn Ames

amazing fusion menu that all of my guests raved about. You know a wedding has been a success when people track you down to comment about the food. It was vegan (entirely made with infused oils!), indian-fusion with a italian and mongolian pasta bar. Deliciousness! I loved that the event planner for Hilton Garden Inn, Ames, Katie Ruby was so willing to work with me. I did most of the planning for my wedding myself, and so a lot of choices were made almost last minute. She worked with all of that. The bridal package was great value for money. I do wish I'd confirmed final numbers with them 48 hours before, but that is on me rather than them. I wouldn't put more than a hundred people in that ballroom for a reception, but as I had said I would have exactly a hundred guests, it worked out looking grand. The reception looked glorious and was set up the evening before, so I could go and look at what the set up was _before_ the event. Due to uncontrollable circumstances, the reception was delayed an hour; they worked with that too. They were also flexible about my desire to serve gelato, and traditional (blessed) indian sweets at the reception! Overall, they were professional, and human-reasonable, which is something you really want when you are spending a huge chunk of money on a single event.

on discounted rate and only after I had called them a second time to confirm all the prices did they switch them. My husband and I were pleased with the refreshment and the noticeable upgrade we received after we came back from our reception, however in the morning we got billed for the suite we never booked under the non discounted price. This hotel is nice and the people are friendly, just a heads up though make sure you verify and re-verify for your guests room rates before they checkout.
