Hilton Head Island Beach & Tennis Resort

The food was good but the service was excellent! The staff made our reception very memorable. They were there for any thing we needed and always ready to help!

I have good things and bad things to say about this venue! I want to be totally honest for future brides and families to know all the details before booking. I'll first start by saying despite the negative things I will mention later, my son's wedding was beautiful and very special. The negative things were: 1. The beach location is at their volley ball spot and is a pretty far walk for your older guests to get to from the parking lot (the closest parking lot which they will allow only a few cars to use.) 2. The rest of your guests have to park outside the gate to the resort and walk all the way to he back toward the beach which is a long way in heels and hot weather. 3. The guard at the gate seems to be clueless on what is going on. Gave the florist wrong directions to set up, gave guests wrong information, etc. Not great communication from coordinator to guard staff from rehearsal to ceremony. 4. The Bridal Suite to get dressed in is small! If you have a large wedding party, you will not be able to fit! We only had 1 maid of honor! You then add the photographer, hair dresser, mothers of bride and groom and a friend, it was tight! Not to mention it is located in the building before the gate which is a long way to the beach but they allowed our car to take the wedding party to the closer parking lot. 5. The boardwalk to the wedding ceremony venue is kinda tight and you will have all the guests walking back and forth while you are lining up and having the ceremony. They started lining up along the walk to watch the ceremony which is fine but kinda weird at the same time. It IS NOT WHEELCHAIR ACCESSABLE!!! You have to go down steps to get to the sand. 6. They do have a little covered area where the bar and grill are next to the pool where you can have a small cocktail hour before and/or after the ceremony, however the pool and beach guests will be there too!!!!!! Good thing we had our wedding in March so it wasn't peak season! There weren't as many guests there as would be during peak season! 7. This is my biggest complaint!! The "Arch" that is shown in the pictures that you see first attached to this venue, IS NOT the arch that they provide! Someone must have rented that or gotten it from a florist or they bought it themselves because the "arch" that they provide is simply 3 4x4's in 2 cement buckets!!!! Not stained or anything! So if you plan to use the one they provide I highly suggest you have your florist make a spray or two to help cover the arch. I would also add any type of sash to help cover it as well! We had no idea this is what we were getting until the morning of!! We had to roll with it! 8. The "coordinator" was late to our rehearsal. We did not hire an actual wedding coordinator so she was just helping out but did not take charge and instruct anyone. My son had to take charge and line everyone up pretty much run the entire rehearsal along with the wedding! So, Hire an actual wedding coordinator unless you want to be running the show yourself!!!!!! In the end, it doesn't really matter! They were married and it all ended up fine! BUT knowing these things ahead of time will help you decide if this is the right venue for you or not!
