We had our 2 day wedding at Hilton Rosemont Hotel. We received a lot of compliments on the location, bell service, and venue decor. Unfortunately, I regret to inform you that the e...vent coordination and execution was not professional nor did it uphold the “Hilton Brand”.
There were many hiccups leading up to the event. During our 5 months of planning were transitioned across 3 different coordinators. The change in personnel should have been handled a lot better as it seemed as though each individual had little to no knowledge about our event and the Rosemont Hilton. Our questions often went unanswered and follow-ups were not answered in a timely manner. We understand that some of these circumstances are outside of your control and we were willing to forego these inconveniences. However, the lack of proper execution from the banquet staff and coordinators during our actual events are simply inexcusable and extremely disappointing.
Right out of the gate we had issues at check-in with our hospitality rooms and parking. For our cultural events which took place on Friday, no linens were laid out (per our contract). Due to this oversight, my decorator was forced to come back super early in the morning to finish setting up for our 11am event and he had other wedding to prepare for. Unfortunately, things only got worse on Saturday which was the day of our actual reception. We had spent a lot of time on the Banquet Event Order with our coordinator and they had poor-no execution of what we aligned on. The most disappointing part of the cocktail hour was the place cards they printed. Some place cards had names of two different individuals combined together, some were missing altogether, and none of them had the food selections that all of our guests had made. This was extremely embarrassing for us/our families as numerous guests were offended when they didn’t see their names on the place card table or when they saw their names mixed up. When the Hilton staff was confronted about these various issues, our siblings were treated very rudely or flat out lied to.
During the actual reception, there was tons of chaos and confusion as dinner was being served. We were told by numerous guests that the servers were coming to each table and asking our guests what they had ordered instead of handing each individual their respective entrée which I submitted by table to the hotel. Some guests were told that the hotel had run out of the option they chose. One of the servers even had a confrontation with a guest about their food choice which resulted in our guest losing his temper and leaving our reception. Throughout the duration of the reception, we could not find event staff. My husband and I were extremely embarrassed when we walked around greeting our guests as our guests mentioned to us that had an issue getting the right entree during dinner.
In summary, my husband and I tried to make the best out of this weekend but ultimately regret our decision to host our wedding at the Rosemont Hilton. Our friends got married in July at the DoubleTree in Oakbrook and had a very different experience from ours so we know that the Hilton holds itself to higher standards. We left our reception hall Saturday night feeling embarrassed, exhausted, and emotionally drained as a result of these various shortcomings. We are sharing our experiences with you in the hopes that other couples come in fully informed and that the Hilton Rosemont team also learns from these mistakes.
