About this vendor
While The Historic Holly Hotel is known as a destination restaurant for elegant dining, it is also a perfect setting for weddings and other private social gatherings. Even the smallest dinner party takes on an air of panache and sophistication when held at the Holly Hotel, and weddings, anniversaries, and other milestone events become memories of a lifetime.
Imagine announcing your engagement in the intimate but legendary Main Dining Room, which hosted the private engagement party of Tommy Dorsey and actress Patricia Dane in the 40's. Or perhaps professing your vows in the President's Room, with its walnut paneled walls and gas-lit mahogany bar, where George and Barbara Bush dined in 1992.
An historic venue, professional chefs and classically trained service staff await your visit.

DO NOT ELOPE HERE. The event coordinator Kate is terrible and does NOTHING to help. The website makes it sound super easy and stress-free but it was not. . Leading up to my wedding...
Kate hardly ever responded to emails and when she did she never had the details right. My ceremony was an hour late because I spent over an hour moving tables around because it was set up for less people - and then Kate got in my face and blamed ME for them getting it wrong. They say "photography included" but she only took a few pictures during the ceremony with her PHONE (and I never saw them...).
Horrible experience.
Thank you to the Holly Hotel for hosting my daughter's rehearsal dinner. Service was prompt and professional. Food was delicious. Atmosphere was divine!
When our original wedding day plans had to be postponed due to the pandemic, my husband and I were still determined to get married in 2020. That's when we found The Holly Hotel! Th...
e HH offers an elopement package that includes everything you need for a wedding ceremony. The price was extremely reasonable and I barely had to lift a finger. I got to choose a cake design and my flower colors, everything else was handled by the event coordinator, Kate. She was great to work with. The event was perfect! My mom and I got the the venue an hour before the ceremony and we were able to get ready in the Bride's Room. The room was small but was exactly what we needed. The ceremony was small and intimate, with only 6 guests in attendance. After the ceremony, we went out to take some pictures and Holly is a great backdrop! Lots of photo opportunities. Then, we had a wonderful 5 course dinner in the same room as our ceremony. The food was fantastic and our waitress, Christine was fabulous. The Holly Hotel is a charming, warm restaurant that made our day very special. I loved my experience with HH and the staffing. If anyone is looking to take advantage of their elopement package, I would DEFINITELY recommend.
Having our wedding/reception at the Holly Hotel on January 12, 2019, couldn’t have been more stunning....from the beautifully decorated rooms, fantastic food, the wait/bar staff th...
at was phenomenal, and most of all Geri, the event coordinator, for putting together this magical day in a week!! We are beyond grateful to have been able to share our special day with our family and friends at such a beautiful wedding venue! ❤️
My husband and I both grew up in Michigan, but moved to Florida a couple years ago. When we got engaged, we knew we wanted to get married somewhere nostalgic, somewhere where our f...
riends and family could be a huge part of. In my research, I came across this farm. I grew up with horses, so it stuck with me especially once I saw the layout of the property. Little did I realize that they also owned The Holly Hotel (which we were already a fan of!) Chrissy, George, Stephen as well as the rest of their staff did SUCH a phenomenal job helping us put together the most beautiful day. Chrissy made planning an out of state wedding SO easy! She was always there for questions and advice, no matter how often. We had so many compliments on the menu and overall service (thanks to George’s amazing chef skills!) as well as the elegance of the entire wedding! We felt so pampered. The property was beautiful and their accommodating personalities were exactly what we hoped for! We even got to bring our pup so she could be a part of our day! Thanks again for everything! We hope to visit The Holly Hotel again next time we are visiting “home”!
We had our rehearsal dinner on Friday at the Holly Hotel and our wedding ceremony and reception at their horse farm (Red Riding Hood Stables). George, the chef and owner, was a del...
ight to work with. Both nights, the food was the best we have ever had. George made wonderful suggestions on our menu for both nights and everyone commented how amazing everything tasted! There is a comedy club downstairs and we had a great time at the show after the Friday dinner. Gerri, the restaurant manager, was so helpful in recommending vendors who worked perfectly with the venue. Our guests said this was the most beautiful wedding they have ever been to! click link for pictures- http://www.marcicurtis.com/blog/red-riding-hood-stables-wedding-with-holly-hotel-catherine-and-jim/

e one with creative vision, so I handled all the wedding planning over the course of two lunch break phone calls. Gerri is fantastic to work with. We had never been to Holly Hotel before, so we had to have dinner there to make the final decision. The staff were incredibly helpful wrapping up the final touches. We had about 22 people upstairs in the room with the turret. Our only regret, in hindsight, once we realized how easy it was to plan the event and work with Holly Hotel, was that we didn't plan the big wedding, knowing that the upstairs could accommodate more than an hundred people. We bought a membership and return regularly. We love this place!
Gerri was a delight to work with for our intimate family dinner after our ceremony. The food was delicious, the staff was super friendly, and the cake was just perfect. It was ex...
actly how we wanted to celebrate our wedding day! Downtown Holly has some adorable places for pictures around (and including) the Holly Hotel as well. All in all, everything worked out perfectly!
I was referred to the Holly Hotel from our officiant, Nichole- it was more than we EVER expected. I can say we were more than pleased to have held our special day here -our flower...
s, cake , decor and menu were spot on!. We had the best service and attention to detail more than we ever expected- OMG- food and cake were amazing !. My only negative comment is that the restrooms are either upper level or lower level and for my father who fell ill, it was difficult in a wheelchair. Wonderful experience !!
I'm going to split this into pros and cons, but first I have to say that this is a great venue for food lovers! If you want to spoil your guests or are just tired of the usual wedd...
ing food, the Holly Hotel is excellent. We had about 100 people and it didn't feel too crowded.
Pros: The bouquets were beautiful, and to the tee of what I wanted.
The room to get ready in was small but it worked nicely.
The servers were pleasant, professional, and helpful.
The drinks and food were amazing, and I always brag how the food and service there is better than the Whitney in Detroit.
The dance floor is small but it's a good thing if you have a small group of dancers.
Great price point. We definitely saved money here.
Getting married in Battle Ally in August was amazingly beautiful. The pictures came out amazing, and it felt super magical.
Cons: I received a handful of complaints from guests who were shocked and upset by how the manager behaved, which put a damper on how we felt the night went. Guests reported being repeatedly scolded for trying to dance, as the building is old and the room is a second floor. If more than one foot left the ground, they were scolded, but we were told that the only kind of dancing that was forbidden was group dances that include hops or jumps, not single folks at a time just getting their groove on. Another instance was a friend of mine was trying to be helpful and take down decor as the night winded down. The friend was responded to in a short-tempered way. Worst of all, I had a seat chart that I had spent night after night perfecting, and when she got it wrong, instead of offering to simply and quickly fix it, she argued with me about how it was written down. I began to fix it myself until my mothers stopped me and fixed it for us. The blunder would have placed the groom's family table away from from sweet heart table.
The decor was also disappointing, mainly the table arrangements by Saturday Morning Girls (the owner of the Holly Hotel's side project). I discussed a budget and an aesthetic with photos with the florist, but the presentation was severely lacking. I asked for bunches of greens, not a few leaves scattered on the table. I clearly specified no carnations, but there were plenty. If it were a matter of budget, I would have liked to have been told. The groom's boutonniere fell apart before dinner.
Lastly, the cake, dubbed "the murder cake": I asked for a semi-naked cake, chocolate with raspberry, and white frosting. We were to place a bird's nest topper on it. Well, they decided to put the raspberry sauce on top of the white frosting and make it look like drips. when we put our topper on, it looked like the happy little love birds had made their nest on a pool of blood! I had to tell everyone later on that I did not approve, but I was too freaked out to tell the manager that it was horrific, especially after our argument.
I don't mean to sound harsh, but I was very disappointed and extra stressed because of the details mentioned above. After a year of working together to get the theme just-so, it was met with a last minute thrown-together feel.
10/10 would chose the Holly Hotel again, even though it wasn't perfect. No one is, and we still want to visit for anniversaries, even if it might be awkward after this review.
I'd recommend taking an active approach and having set-up and tear-down of decor handled professionally or personally, cake too. The manager means well, but I think she needs a break.
My husband and I got married on the beach in Hawaii and wanted to find the perfect venue for our family back home to celebrate with us when we returned. We live in Ohio but all of...
our family is still in Michigan. We had never been to the Holly Hotel before, we thought it looked beautiful and would be a great place to celebrate our marriage with our closest family. We reserved the “Main Bar” for a Saturday afternoon three course luncheon. The room setup was extremely elegant, and I still got the tropical feel I was going for. From the purple napkins with our custom menu tucked neatly inside, to the Dendrobium Orchids at each place setting and the Bird of Paradise Center pieces. It was everything I imagined and more, while planning the event (all by phone and email) with Gerri & Chrissy.
Gerri was amazing to work with, extremely responsive and she took my ideas and brought them to life for me! She helped me design the perfect menu and even incorporated my Hawaiian theme into our cake!
Chrissy was great too, I sent her a couple ideas for flowers and she was able to find exactly what I was looking for and made it extremely affordable.
The food was phenomenal! Everything was bursting with flavor (all of our guests raved about how delicious everything was). The bruschetta appetizer was a real hit and our favorite main course was the Chicken Strudle, a Holly Hotel specialty which was rich and flaky with a raspberry sauce on top - AMAZING!
All of the staff made us feel so special, and they were on top of everything! They didn’t miss a beat, if my husband or I (or anyone for that matter) was out of a beverage they were right there refilling it. Just so friendly and fun.
My husband and I plan to go back to the Holly Hotel for our first anniversary, that is how much we enjoyed it!
I would highly recommend the Holly Hotel to anyone who is looking for an intimate gathering. The staff really cares about making your day perfect and special and they truly care about their customers!

over all the details for our wedding I knew I was dealing with professionals who knew how to put together a perfect wedding day. The food, service and hospitality were exceptional and I couldn’t have asked for more. My guests were all very happy and I received numerous compliments on how great the food was. Thank you to you and your team Gerri for putting the perfect night together 😊
We got married this past August at the Holly Hotel. From start to finish it was so easy and our wedding turned out great. Gerri handled everything with very little effort from us...
. We used their florist and she was reasonably priced and our flowers turned out just beautiful. We also had the Holly Hotel provide our wedding cake and it was beautiful and delicious. The food was amazing at the wedding. We received so many compliments on the location, setting, staff, and of course the food. Also, the prices are so reasonable for what you receive. We had a plated dinner with bread, soup, salad, and an amazing entree. Did I mention everyone loved the food?!? The venue is beautiful and I couldn't have asked for a better person to work with!
It all turned out perfect, because of Gerri's help.

nd outside. Wedding planning was virtually stress-free due to the one-stop-shop mentality they offer. We were able to hold our 50-person ceremony, hors d'oeuvre hour and reception all in the same 2-room suite (complete with a bar and their dance floor). They also designed/provided the gorgeous flowers, magnificent cakes and perfect centerpieces/table numbers/napkins all based on my specific vision. I highly recommend The Holly Hotel for your wedding!
Attended an enchanting vintage reception at The Holly Hotel in 2017. Food and atmosphere was a perfect setting.

tantly fell in love with it. We knew this was the place for us. It is absolutely beautiful and I loved that we didn’t have to dress it up much because the decor timeless and elegant. Our wedding coordinator who is also the general manager, Gerri Poage, was outstanding. Her calm and easy demeanor made planning our wedding an enjoyable experience and all of the little things that were overwhelming us faded away. Her experience and quick responses were beyond what I expected. From our first meeting with her and through the wedding ceremony and reception she made sure every need we had was met and she anticipated for details that we overlooked. The food was phenomenal and I received many compliments from our guests on how delicious the meal was. The service was streamlined, organized and the staff were friendly and professional. We also had our wedding cake made by the Holly Hotel and it was amazing. The buttercream frosting was delicious and the cake was probably the most delicious cake I have ever had in my life. Like our meal, we received many compliments on our cake from our guests.
This venue exceeded every expectation I had for our wedding day and I am forever grateful that I was able to have my dream wedding at the Holly Hotel. We highly recommend this venue if you are looking for the perfect place for your wedding.
We had the pleasure of being married at Holly Hotel in August 2017. We knew we wanted it to be the place as we were still taking the tour. The building the history it was perfect. ...
The food was perfect everyone talks about it to this day. While all of that was a huge plus the thing that stood out to us was the staff. Each and everyone was flawless. The were sharp and extremely professional. We’re were lucky enough to meet Gerri the manager. WHAT AN ASSET! She knew the ins and outs, and had answers to questions I hadn’t asked yet. She went above and beyond in every facet of the wedding. She is a true professional, accommodating, and a pleasure to work with. The Holly Hotel drew us in and Gerri kept us there.
BEWARE! I had my wedding ceremony and reception booked here for a Friday the 13th wedding in October. That was in November the following year. My Dad ended up passing away very tra...
gically, and I had to cancel the wedding for obvious reasons. Every one of my vendors were able to give me my deposit back and totally understood the situation and I am thankful for that. Holly Hotel gave me half of my deposit and said if the hotel is booked on that date, I'd get the rest. Knowing Holly Hotel, I knew it'd be booked so I knew I'd be fine. Come end of September here and I called the Holly Hotel to inquire about my deposit. I was told the hotel WAS booked, but now I was being told it wasn't an "equal" event even though I was only going to have about 25-30 people at my wedding originally, and Geri would NOT define what an "equal" event meant, tripping over her words. I emailed the owner, George and I wasn't rude, I moreso begged him to just please understand I could NOT control this situation and it's cruel to punish me by not giving me my deposit when I had no control over my Dad passing away. Typically, not giving a deposit back is because someone changed their minds about the wedding location, but I didn't! I even offered to send my father's death certificate to prove to them I wasn't lying. Well, George never responded to me and they kept my money. I guess customers just aren't worth his time. Just, save yourself the money-grubbing pain and dont book your wedding here. They don't care about the people or the brides, just the money you give them.
I loved having my ceremony and luncheon here.... they treated us like royalty. Food, staff , and location enchanting.
The Holly Hotel has a very dear position in our hearts. My husband and I went here on one of our dates in the very beginning and this has become "Our Place". We decided to have an ...
outdoor ceremony with reception here.
While Trisha was here, she was fabulous. She left to seek other opportunities, but she was wonderful. Filling her shoes, with a heavy load but a courageous attitude is Terry. WE. LOVE. TERRY. We can not stress this enough. Terry worked endlessly to fix any issues and make this day wonderful. We truly enjoyed working with Terry on this wedding. We were even a little sad at the end because the day was over and we weren't going to be able to plan anymore with him. At least we get to see him again since we are members.
We recommend the Holly Hotel for all your party and wedding needs. The space is smaller, but it was perfect for our 85 guests.
Thank you so much to George, Chrissy, Kim (who just came in and did an EXCELLENT job), and Terry along with the Holly Hotel staff.

We eloped a year ago, and just had the reception here. I've always dreamed of a Halloween wedding since high school. Using their Groupon, I got everything I bargained for. They cov...
ered the flowers (including special order black Callas), wine at dinner (converting it into white and red sangria), and created a specialized dinner menu (keeping with our Halloween theme -stabbed beef, deviled pork shank, decapitated mushrooms...) We spent well over the groupon with bar and extra people, but I'm quite sure we would have spent double that elsewhere for the same quality food. I was originally reluctant to have here, thinking it to look a bit dated -even for a throwback. But my guests really thought it quite remarkable and fitting for the theme. There were things that were not quite as discussed in planning.(the pork had something of a BBQ sauce instead of a peppered gravy, the "antipasto tray" was a pile of sausage hunks across the room from the cheese and bread trays) Nonetheless, the quality of the other food was quite exceptional.

ndor. Turns out, it wasn't worth it.
I highly recommend Holly Hotel for catering but -do not- let them bake your cake!
We ordered a three tier cake; each tier was a different flavor. When we took the first slice of the cake we realized that it was about 40% icing, there was literally an inch of icing around the outside of the cake. All of the cake flavors (choc w/ choc filling, spice cake and white cake) were dry and too sweet/ lacking in flavor other than 'sugar'.
The top layer of our cake, that were were supposed to freeze for our first anniversary, was huge! It was over a foot in diameter. When we got home and opened the box that it was in we saw that it had cracked right down the middle due to the tremendous weight and size of it and it's inch-thick icing shell.
We decided there was no way to save it as all of the moisture of the cake would escape through the huge cracks in it, we tasted it (terrible) and threw it away.
The cake was the only this from Holly Hotel that really disappointed us. Everything else was pretty good.
- The cake was inexpensive (3.75/person).
- The cake was also ugly/ poorly decorated.
They custom-designed a menu based on our favorite foods involved us as much as we wanted in the process. The day of the reception our guests got to choose from three options for ...
dinner--not weeks in advance but on the spot. None of the food was frozen or artificially preserved; it was all fresh and delicious. The decor was very historic and had a homey comfortable feel.;If you're looking to invite more than 150 people this is not your venue. Also because of its historic status renovations take a lot of red tape and it can look a bit shabby around the edges (but it mostly just adds to the homey ambiance.)
