My husband and I were married at the Historic Poole Forgein July of 2016. We could not have chosen a better location for our wedding and reception. Dawn, the event coordinator, is ...
the most knowledgeable, considerate, and accommodating person I've ever worked with! She seemed to anticipate everything we could need, and the few things she didn't anticipate, she was able to answer/provide immediately. Dawn always replied to our emails and phone calls within a few hours at the most.
As for the Forge, it is a stunning location. The gardens are magnificent and so varied in color! The covered bridge is in excellent condition and served as a stunning backdrop for our ceremony. We had use of all the buildings on the property, as well as the pavilion and playground (though we did not have children at our wedding).
Overall, we loved it and couldn't recommend it more! We still go back several times each year just to visit!
Having our wedding at Historic Poole Forge was the best decision we ever made! From my very first tour there I knew this location would be perfect for the wedding of my dreams! Thr...
oughout the whole planning process, Dawn (the executive director) was right there by my side! She answered all of our questions and gave phenomenal suggestions when it came to different vendors, placement of the tent and a timeline of the day! The venue itself was beautiful! And Dawn made sure to tidy everything up specifically for our wedding day! She even went above and beyond to have some security in place due to our wedding was the same day as prom and she didn't want anything such as prom pictures disrupting our day. The day was so stress free and just perfect, I really didn't have to lift a finger because I knew Dawn had everything under control! I suggest Poole Forge to anyone who asks about a venue because I know the location is gorgeous, the price is right, and you have such a helpful director who puts the brides wishes first.
I had my wedding at Historic Poole Forge just a few weeks ago, in October 2018. I love the park -- the buildings and creek are beautiful; the grounds have something special to off...
er every season. I live nearby and the park has some sentimental significance for me.
We were very, very lucky and had an absolutely gorgeous fall day. As others have mentioned, there are countless lovely natural and built backdrops for photos.
We had the ceremony in a grassy area, cocktail hour on the mansion porch/patio, and the reception in a tent -- all on site. I love the simplicity of all events being at one location. The cocktail hour on the patio, specifically, was a hit--many of our guests liked getting to see the mansion up close.
I loved having my wedding at Poole Forge. I so appreciated being able to set up outside in the days ahead and clean up in the days following (the schedule surrounding our wedding day allowed for this--it might not always be possible). If we had been given a smaller window--it would not have been possible to have the wedding I envisioned. An outdoor wedding at a park is A LOT of work! Poole Forge is not primarily a wedding venue, so there is a lot of legwork to do to get everything lined up. Dawn, the site director, recommends vendors who are familiar with the site--that's extremely helpful. I live nearby and was able to stop by (before or after the event of course-never during a wedding!) and see how other couples arranged their tent, tables, etc. That was very helpful for me--I'd recommend it for anyone considering the site. I also followed Poole Forge's facebook page religiously to view any wedding photos Dawn posted.
I am so grateful Dawn takes some photos that day as well -- we won't get them from the photographer for weeks and my family only snapped a handful. She captured some lovely moments and I so appreciate being able to view them now, weeks before we'll get our photographer's photos.
My husband and I got married at Historic Poole Forge on April 1st, 2016. Yes - April Fool's Day! We were the first couple to get married there in 2016 and the first couple to be ab...
le to get married on/at the beautiful covered bridge! Dawn at Poole Forge was so easy to work with. She made the whole thing go so smoothly and we would definitely recommend using this venue if you want a location with personality. The grounds are so well cared for and there are tons of photo-worthy spots all over the park. The beautiful stone buildings make an incredible backdrop! It's a location where you can have your ceremony AND your reception. Dawn also takes phenomenal photographs. I can't say enough good things about this location. My husband and I visit regularly because it is such a nice place!
Historic Poole Forge is a beautiful setting with a site coordinator that goes above and beyond to help make your wedding day and set-up as smooth as possible! There's a beautiful m...
ansion, flowing river, open space for a tent, covered bridge and the open field. So many lovely places for pictures and guests to enjoy! When Dawn, the site coordinator, gave us the venue tour and opened the door to the bride preperation room, tears welled up in my eyes and we knew this was our wedding venue! She had dressed it up with vintage wedding gowns, and beautiful furniture, which added to the beauty in photographs and brought a peaceful setting for me to get ready in. She has a large assortment of decoration invetory that you can rent for very reasonable prices and is even a florist herself if you decide to hire her! She did an amazing job on my bouquet and bridesmaids! Coordinating with tent rental, bar tender, and food caterers was a breeze, because she already had spelled out ones she's worked with before and what we needed to supply her with to help set up run smoothly. We held our rehersal dinner inside the mansion the night before too. I would highly recommend this venue! You know that the money you are spending on your venue is going right back into supporting this historic site and the community too, which was a huge bonus for us! Can't recommend them enough!
I cannot say enough great things about this venue! Since the start of wedding planning my husband and I fell in love with this location and the coordinator there was amazing to wor...
k with. She was so helpful in providing vendors and being open to all of our ideas. It seems like they truly care about their weddings because the entire place is beautifully kept up with. Even when my favorite willow tree on the property got knocked down by a huge storm a week or so before the wedding, the coordinator went out of her way to supply a new willow tree for us to plant on our wedding day and come back to visit anytime! I would highly recommend this venue!
Historic Poole Forge was excellent in helping us achieve everything we wanted for our wedding day. The grounds are spacious, and the buildings are beautiful. Dawn was excellent in ...
working with us in terms of making accommodations for our caterer, our tent size, and our own special arts and crafts that were featured in our wedding. I would highly recommend Historic Poole Forge.
I had my wedding here in May 2018 and although it is a beautiful place, I did not have the experience I hoped to and would not recommend it to others looking for a wedding venue. T...
he coordinator was very difficult to work with and was really unclear with communication. Most emails I sent took quite a few days to get a reply on a question and many times the actual question was not clearly addressed or followed-up on. Honestly I did not feel like my wedding was important to them at all. I am not one to expect others to bend over backwards for me, but I certainly did not feel welcomed or accommodated to throughout the process. There seemed to be no real interest in my wedding other than an opportunity to bring in some extra money and advertising.
Multiple things I was told when we were touring the venue changed along the way and got more and more restrictive. For example, having access to certain spaces, pricing, and other "inclusions" to the rental contract. None of these things could be found in the contract, therefore I could only say "Oh, but I thought you said..." (I had people with me so I know I'm not making things up in my head). I was also told that certain spaces would work for my party or would "definitely" hold the number of people I expected, only to later realize that it would be very difficult and we needed to be more creative to make it work. I was told it would be no problem to have our tent placed in a particular spot, again later to find out that it would actually be a big problem and we needed to re-design our entire plan (3 days before the wedding day!). Of course all of these mishaps were "my fault" and it was my responsibility to fix the issue (which is very hard when you're working with a place you are unfamiliar with and don't see everyday). Many conversations were contradictory and confusing, and unnecessary comments were made towards me to make me feel I did something wrong, but that they would "let it slide" this time. In all reality, these mistakes were not my fault, but came down to poor communication and false advertising of the grounds. I consider myself to be fairly easy to work with, but for some reason I couldn't seem to please anyone here. My other vendors were much easier to work with and my honest opinion is to save yourself the trouble on this one.
