About this vendor
Built in 1822 by General George Rust, and later, home to Ida Lee and her 12 children, Rockland is still owned by descendants of the Rusts and abounds with historic charm. Ten acres of gardens surrounding the Manor House are nestled among unique rock outcroppings. Blooms begin in early March with winter aconite, chionodoxa and daffodils. Seasonal flowers continue throughout the spring, summer and fall with breathtaking color. Whether it’s cocktails beside the pool, a stroll through the wildflower gardens, or watching the cows graze in the bluegrass field you and your guests will have a lot to take in during your event.
There are two historic cottages near the Manor House and gardens which can be used for the Bridal Party and Groomsmen to prepare for the event. Both with spectacular views.

Disappointing how these owners have destroyed this place, claiming to want to honor and protect the property’s rich heritage. Not only have they ruined the property but they have a...
lso alienated the community and, out of pure greed, taken away an also historic and important feature to the area: the ferry that crosses between Virginia and Maryland. Horrible people.
What would you expect from an entitled family of former slave owners but to try to find every conceivable source of unearned income? Just awful!
Owners of this "fine establishment" are holding 2 counties hostage due to bring petty
As soon as walked on the property we know it was the one. Historic Rockland is stunning while understated. The beautiful grounds offer many corners and areas for different parts of...
the event and for your guests to hang out. The owner, Libby, is amazing. She was genuine caring about the success of our evening, on top of things, and very accommodating and flexible. I highly recommend!
I would recommend Historic Rockland to anyone getting married in the DMV area. Libby, the owner, was responsive throughout the whole process and she recommended great vendors to wo...
rk with. Not to mention, the property itself is absolutely gorgeous! There are sprawling fields, beautiful flowers, a historic home, and plenty of flat space to pitch a reception tent. And there are beautiful old trees throughout the area that give great shade during the summer months. An added bonus is that you can rent out two houses on the venue for your family or bridal parties to stay in. We rented the houses for Friday and Saturday night and had a bride and groom house. It was a lot of fun and staying in the venue houses made the wedding day stress free since I could just sit back and relax that morning. I hope you love historic rockland as much as we did!
Dear Libby & Nick,
Thank you very much for going above and beyond on our special day. We appreciate all your hard work and creativity. The garden ceremony was beautiful and the r...
eception was seamless. Not a single detail or preparation was overlooked, everything was absolutely flawless. Prompt responses to our questions and your personable attitude planning speaks volumes of your professionalism and expertise. The special care you devoted to our special day is priceless. Historic Rockland was such a special venue for us, it's rich history, beautiful grounds, and endless opportunity for amazing pictures proved to be a day we will cherish forever. The accommodations offered at Historic Rockland for our family and friends was intimate. We loved having the ceremony and reception all at one location, and the cozy bride & grooms cottage for overnight stay.
Thank you again for making our special day memorable.
Warm Regards,

I had a vision for my wedding day and I took my time visiting many vendors though once I walked Historic Rockland, I knew I wasted my time with all the others. The gardens and hou...
se were simply breathtaking, I wanted to book this venue instantly. Not only was the venue perfect, Libby and Nick were so incredibly friendly and patient as they took their time to share with us all the options available on site.
Historic Rockland has numerous gardens and the land is one of a kind. It has views that one can hardly find so close to DC. We planned the timeline of events utilizing all the special nooks in the garden.
With the special day just a week away, the weather turned on us and with this, all the planning had to change. Libby was so very patient with us, attending all the meeting and helping us come up with a second plan.
On the day of the wedding, even though I thought I wanted what I originally planned, the whole day turned out more magical then I could of ever of dreamed of. Libby and Nick were so very accommodating. All the guests were blown away with how friendly and relaxing the venue felt. My husband and I knew we didn't want to be married in a hotel, we wanted an outdoor wedding that felt inviting and comfortable for all our friends and family.
I'm not one to write reviews though I wanted Libby and Nick to know how grateful we are for all their help and how special Historic Rockland is. We are so grateful for all they have done and my husband and I look forward to returning as they have cottages to stay in and we really feel in the end of this whole experience that Libby and Nick have become true friends of ours.
Thank you so very much, you made our wedding day simply perfect!!!
Love to both,
Kristin and Metin
I was fortunate enough to hold a rehearsal dinner in June at Historic Rockland. I had a local caterer provide dinner (she also took care of all rentals for me) and I was able to br...
ing in our own wine and flowers earlier in the day. The group of 75 had cocktails overlooking the gardens and they were all astounded by the lush grounds and magnificent home and furnishings. The owners could not have been more hospitable and helped us at every juncture of the planning and that day.
I cannot recommend them more hightly.
