About this vendor
For generations, the grounds of the Historic Strawberry Mansion have been enjoyed by members of the surrounding community as a quiet escape in Fairmount Park, so close yet worlds away from the noise and bustle of Philadelphia.
The Historic Strawberry Mansion is the largest of the seven historic Fairmount Park Houses. Formerly known as “Summerville,” Historic Strawberry Mansion was built in 1789 by Judge William Lewis, a well-known lawyer and abolitionist, as a summer home along the Schuylkill River.
Plan a luxurious outdoor celebration on the expansive rear grounds where guests may mingle on the full-length brick terrace overlooking a beautiful Azalea path.

We chose Historic Strawberry Mansion for its beauty, history, and heart. The grounds are lush and meticulously maintained, the Secret Garden is a dream for photos, and the mansion’...
s history—as the home of an early abolitionist judge—added some depth to the venue. It also felt good knowing our rental fee supported the nonprofit’s mission of preservation. The space flowed perfectly for our ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception, with gorgeous tree-lined views all around. On the day, the team (through our caterer and coordinator, Jennifer) was flexible and thoughtful—letting us sit inside before the ceremony and even bringing the bride water when it was desperately needed. The only drawback was the tent setup from a separate company, which placed a pole in the middle of the dance floor, but otherwise, everything was flawless. Just note there’s no air conditioning—it’s an outdoor venue—though it’s so green and well-kept that it more than makes up for it. We’d absolutely recommend it for couples looking for a venue that’s equal parts romantic, historic, and meaningful.
