Versatile and high energy Boston Wedding Band!!
Based in southeastern Massachusetts and formed in 2015 by some the area's most accomplished musicians, Hit Play has quickly earned a solid reputation as one of the hottest live wedding and event party bands in New England. The band’s leader, guitarist and singer, Ryan McHugh is well known in the Boston area for his ability to entertain a room by utilizing his 22 years of experience working professionally in the live music industry. Drawing on this experience, Hit Play performs in top club venues from Boston to Newport and at top wedding venues all over New England. The band is well known for their incredibly versatile repertoire - consisting of anything from rock, pop, funk, country, alternative and hip-hop to name a few. Despite the incredibly diverse styles, the songs in the dance set all share one common thread: high energy, tried and true bangers that always keep the dance floor moving. Lynn, the lead female vocalist is multilingual so in addition to singing all the hits in English she can also sing beautifully in Spanish, Hebrew and French to name a few!! Adding Andy's (drummer) super high vocal range to the mix allows even a small 4 or 5 piece band to be able to sing almost every style and genre imaginable with multipart vocal harmonies to boot!

With around 400 songs to choose from and a state of the art sound system and uplighting, Hit Play will make the night perfect. Unlike many New England wedding bands you may have seen that have a set list of songs that vary only slightly from one event to another, Ryan will "call audibles" from a variety of musical genres during the performance to perfectly fit the crowd and the vibe of your event. Hit Play was the perfect addition to our recent wedding night!! From the beginning, Ryan was easy to work with and very responsive. On the day of, they were just awesome all night! They played a great mix of genres and got all our guests out in the dance floor - even before dinner started!! Highly recommend booking Hit Play for your day!
I already knew how great this band was from previous events they entertained at and they were just as good at my wedding! They nailed every song had the perfect variety and no one left the dance floor all night! This is the only band I would hire and i highly recommend everyone else do the same! Thanks for making our wedding the perfect night!

We had a wonderful experience with Ryan and Hit Play! From start to finish, everything was seamless. Ryan was communicative throughout the entire planning process and everything came together perfectly on our wedding day.
The acoustic music during the ceremony was spot on-- Ryan even learned a song that I requested for the walk down the aisle.
As for the reception, the band did an awesome job! My fiance and I were shocked by their extensive song list. We met with Ryan before the big day and discussed our music style. He really nailed the vibe that we were going for to create the perfect atmosphere.
In the days and weeks following the wedding, our family and friends have continued to rave about the music. Overall working with Hit Play was a flawless experience. I cannot thank Ryan and the team enough! I absolutely recommend this band to anyone looking for live music at their wedding.
My husband and I saw Hit Play perform at a friend's wedding and we knew immediately we wanted them to play at ours. Ryan was super flexible and responsive to our needs, and even threw in some bonus lighting at the end. We also had a couple of weird requests (like a cotton eyed joe dance off) and Ryan was more than happy to MC that for us. Guests LOVED Hit Play. I am not even kidding people were up dancing before dinner and between courses. Our wedding was May 2023 and I still (Dec 2023) get compliments from family and friends about the band. You should book them, you won't regret it!

Ryan and the Hit Play band were one of our favorite parts of our wedding! We opted for their 7-piece option and couldn’t have asked for a better, more high-energy band! The dance floor was packed all night and our friends and family are still commenting on how fun our band was months after our wedding! Ryan was very easy to work with throughout the wedding planning process and was always available to answer our questions as they came up. We had the band play our first dance, father/daughter, and mother/son songs live and they were AMAZING! We also had Ryan and a few other band members play during our ceremony and cocktail hour and highly recommend adding this on! We can’t recommend Ryan and Hit Play enough. If you want your band to be one of the highlights of your wedding day, look no further than Hit Play!
We heard about Hit Play Band from a friend that saw them at another wedding, and we were beyond happy they were recommend to us! Ryan was so easy to work with. He was super responsive throughout the whole process and made sure he heard our vision and brought it to life. We had a couple of zoom sessions with him ahead of time as well so that he could really make sure he understood what we were asking for the ceremony, cocktail hour and reception. He was flexible with his timing to ensure that we had extra dancing time, and even DJed for some time after the band was done. He was incredibly accommodating to us, letting my husband perform his own song, and even letting him join the band for a song. The band played a great variety of music and kept everyone engaged. We could not be happier with how it turned out - all the guests were up and dancing the whole night. Thank you Ryan and Hit Play for helping make our wedding perfect!
We had the privilege of having Ryan and Hit Play at our wedding in August. They were nothing short of incredible and were such a crowd hit. Every guest came up to us throughout the night and the day after telling us how phenomenal the band was!! Ryan played acoustically during the ceremony and his renditions of Yellow and Landslides were tear jerkers. They were also able to play our first dance song as well as our family dances live and were so so good. We had a phone call with Ryan beforehand to tell him our vibe and discuss must plays/ do not play and we could not have been happier with what they chose as the final set list. Every single song had everyone dancing and singing at the top of their lungs which was such a highlight of the night. I truly wish we could give them more than 5 stars!!!
Ryan and his band were nothing short of fantastic. He is responsive, personable, funny, and genuinely wants to make sure your dance floor is everything you want it to be. For us, we wanted a PACKED dance floor all night long, carried by a lively 7 piece band. Through our many emails/texts/meetings, we chatted about what I thought my guests would want to hear and not want to hear. I picked out a few request songs, but other than that I did not give him a song list, nor did I feel the need to. And DAMN did he deliver. My guests ALL NIGHT were asking me if my husband and I hand picked the song list because it was so true to us as a couple while also resonating with our family and friends. I happily told them NOPE, no set list was provided - Ryan just knows his stuff, how to read/work a crowd, and the vibe we were going for. We had so much fun and as we saw family and friends after our honeymoon, the FIRST thing they remember and want to talk about was the band. Best day ever - it would NOT have been the same without Ryan and his incredible band mates! HIRE THEM!
We recently had the pleasure of hiring Hit Play for our wedding reception, and we cannot express enough how thrilled we were with their performance. From the very first note, they had our guests captivated and transformed our celebration into an unforgettable night of pure entertainment!

Ryan was amazing to work with in the lead up to our wedding. He helped us finalize our first dance and parent dance songs and was so organized and thoughtful as we got closer to the day. Ryan was also great in learning some additional songs which really meant so much to us.
If you're looking for a wedding band that will exceed your expectations, Hit Play is the absolute best choice. They not only kept the energy up and the dance floor full, but they also created an electric atmosphere that will be etched in our memories forever. Our guests are still raving about the incredible entertainment provided by this talented group.
Book this band! We got so lucky we were able to book Hit Play 2 months before our wedding after another band recommended them and then we went to see them play in Newport and Boston. I was extremely particular about what songs I did and did not want played, and Ryan worked really closely with me to make sure all the songs I wanted were either played by the band or during a DJed break (Ryan also added a DJ set after the band finished playing, so we were able to get all our non-band songs in). Hit Play absolutely rocked, and totally blew away all my expectations. Everyone danced all night, and was raving about the band at our brunch the next day.

We hired Hit Play for our wedding on August 11, 2023.
We could not have been more stoked to have chosen them for our entertainment. The band is still a topic of conversation from many of our guests. Not only were they incredible performers, but they were genuinely awesome people! The made sure to play songs that everyone enjoyed and accommodated all of our requests! My husband, his groomsmen and even our photographer(!!) even got a chance to go crazy over some NOFX.
If you enjoy punk music ( or any genre for that matter) do not hesitate to book Hit Play for your wedding, or any event! THEY WERE SO FUN!
Ryan was fantastic. He was professional, amazingly talented, dynamic and flexible. He learned a song days before our ceremony, played it live and just nailed it. He played live and DJed for the reception and the crowd loved it!

Hit Play and get ready to party!
A live band was one of the non-negotiables for our wedding. Though we only had 6 months to plan our wedding, we didn’t just want a cookie cutter wedding band. We both love music and wanted to make sure we had a band that would keep the entire night moving.
We got that and much more with Hit Play! From the moment we first reached out, Ryan was incredibly fast and friendly with his responses. The band has a very diverse catalog and they pay attention to the details with special song requests and blending together the genres you want to hear for the night. Having the conversation with Ryan a few weeks before the wedding really sealed the deal and we knew we were in good hands.
From providing excellent MC duties, to learning covers, and offering DJ services, Hit Play really does it all. They even let the groom’s band play a few songs to kick off the night which made it that much more special and memorable for us and all our guests! We had about 100 people at our wedding and the dance floor was packed all night, which was exactly what we were hoping for. Months later, our guests are still talking about how much fun they had and how great the band was. This is a talented and accommodating group for sure, so don’t hesitate to book them!
My husband & I booked Hit Play for our December 2022 wedding. We, and our guests, truly are speechless and for many reasons. Ryan acted as MC and did a fantastic job with the ceremony music, cocktail hour music, and reception introductions, transitions, and music. Ryan even performed a life rendition of our first song dance (it's an older song from the 1930's and did not have an appropriate recorded version for our first dance vision). This meant he learned the entire song, lyrics and all, and played it on his guitar. It was incredible and exactly how we envisioned it, except BETTER. We are so thankful to Ryan for learning that song for us, and can't thank him enough. It made it truly special! In addition, we've heard nothing but compliments and good things from all of our guests (ranging in age from 84 years old to 3 years old) about the live music performed by the band and the DJ music. The band sounded fantastic, the song selections were perfect, and all of the different instruments and vocal ranges were just simply outstanding. Lastly, rounding the night off with that last song (that the band also had just learned ahead of our wedding, and was performing it live for the first time together)...wow. It was all around such a fun day/night, largely in part because of Hit Play. We don't know what to say to express how grateful and thankful we are for finding and booking Hit Play for our special day, so: thank you to Ryan and all of the bandmates so very much. You all were a huge part of creating our dream day/night, and we are grateful to have found you guys. If anyone is considering booking a band for a wedding or other big event, look no further than Hit Play!!!
Hit Play played our wedding of approximately 75 people in September. Throughout the planning process, Ryan, the band leader, was incredibly responsive. We had several meetings in the months/weeks leading up to the event to iron out details and discuss logistics. On the actual day, the band did a fantastic job taking our do-not-play list and developing a perfect set list for the ceremony, cocktail hour and reception. The dancefloor was packed the whole night despite the relatively small number of guests. Book without hesitation.
We cannot say enough positive things about Hit Play. Booking them as our wedding band was the best decision we could have made! All of our wedding guests have not stopped talking about how great they were. Throughout the planning process, Ryan was very attentive and helpful with planning our day. He gave us so many great recommendations to make sure the day went as perfect as possible. The dance floor was full for the entire 4 1/2 hour wedding reception. The playlist was perfect and the band couldn't have been more professional. We have so many amazing videos of the dance floor that will last a lifetime. Thank you all again so much!

I can’t recommend Hit Play enough, having them at our wedding was probably the best decision we made. Ryan is easy to talk to and completely understood our ‘vibe’ for the whole evening. He did our music for the ceremony and we had a five piece band for our reception. We had a smaller wedding of under 90 people, but every single person has complimented Hit Play since! We danced all night long. Don’t second guess the decision to hire Hit Play, they do not disappoint. Thank you for making our special day that much more amazing!!
I would not call ourselves “party people” by any means but Hit Play transformed us into boogie-ing shimmying party people for our wedding and we had a blast!! Ryan and his band are super easy to work with, and brought the fun to our reception. From 2 year olds to 90 + year olds, they got people on the dance floor! Everyone loved our band and was blown away.
Hit Play 1000% exceeded our expectations! They went above and beyond for our wedding and our guests continue to rave about them to this day. We loved that they played a mix of old and new hits that everyone could enjoy. Ryan played acoustic guitar as I walked down the aisle and also played during our happy hour. Hit Play was absolutely electric! They played at our Wedding on New Years Eve and we had the best time and the guests couldn’t stop talking about how much fun the band was! Everyone had a blast. They were so easy to work with, helpful to walk us through everything, and accommodating when we wanted to play Greek music for my family during their break! They played everything we wanted to hear and more! They truly made the night special for everyone, a night we certainly won’t forget!
We hired Hit Play to perform at our wedding in July 2021, and we were beyond satisfied with everyone’s talent and professionalism the whole night long. They were incredibly easy to contact and were up front with pricing and different options we could go with. Ryan took the time to talk to us about what we were looking for a couple of weeks ahead of time, and he and the band knocked it out of the park by playing most of the songs we requested but also all songs that we really liked. Most impressive was the fact that they were able to learn and play a song which was not on their list for our first song. The dance floor was crowded the whole time. They took care of our ceremony music as well, and it was all amazing. Over a year later, we still have friends and family who bring up how incredible Hit Play was at our wedding. We hired hit play for our wedding last summer and they were amazing! Ryan and Lynn are so talented and were so easy to work with leading up to the wedding. They kept everyone on the dance floor all night. We had so many comments from our guests about how great the band was!
We had such an amazing time at our wedding and a large part was because of Hit Play! We had originally booked a DJ for our wedding and when we postponed due to COVID I knew I had to reach out to Ryan and see if he was available. Ryan was so easy to work with and there was always great communication between us. He is so knowledgeable not only about the music, but of what goes into the entertainment of a wedding and how to get the crowd going. After almost a year, our guests are still talking about how fun our wedding was! If you're thinking of having a band at your wedding, hire Hit Play. You won't regret it!
Where to begin… we decided that we were not going to let COVID ruin our plans for our big day. After speaking with several different bands and discussing our intentions, thoughts and itinerary, Ryan was the one guy who felt as if you were speaking to a college friend who was trying to actually help rather than create more drama. We had to work a little to get around state regulations for COVID in regards to no dancing and limited guest restrictions etc as we were getting married on Block Island. We opted to work with Ryan on guitar/vocals and two other band members to do the acoustic version of hit play…. After about, 20 minutes the no dancing regulation was thrown out the window. These guys had almost every guest out of their seats dancing in some fashion. We even collected donations from crowd to hire them for the rest of the evening to play instead of the local entertainment who was supposed to play at the bar next door bc they were so good.
In addition, Ryan basically replaced our wedding planner that we had to part ways with a month before the wedding. He played at the ceremony, he coordinated speeches, Dj’d dinner service and basically took control to insure everything went smoothly.
I am not sure whether I am writing a review for a wedding planner or a wedding band at this point but as I look back and reflect on that night, it would have never been the wedding that people are still talking about with out the help of Ryan and the musical talent of hit play.
Hit Play was SO awesome at our wedding on 6/11/2022! Leading up to the wedding Ryan was very professional and easy to work with. He was definitely not an added stress to my planning, but rather one of the most exciting parts of it! He provided a link to a planning document which was super helpful in a time where organization is needed!
The whole band was very flexible with traveling, changing ceremony & reception locations and keeping the party going all night long! After having conversations with Ryan prior to the wedding, he completely grasped our vibe and taste in music and knew how to pick up on the crowd throughout the day/night. Everyone loved his voice as well as Lynn's and we got nothing but compliments on every band member. Instead, I actually heard complaints from people who were sore the next day from dancing so much!
We love you Hit Play and wish we could do it all over again!!
I cannot put into words how amazing Hit Play performed at our wedding last October. All 250 guest were on their feet from the minute they came on stage until buses were pulling out of the venue. My husband and I even passed on cutting the cake because I refused to leave the dance floor. If you are hesitating at all - DONT! BOOK NOW! Best decision we’ve ever made.

It’s always difficult picking a band that you have never seen. We watched videos of hit play and did our best, but man did we pick the right band. They sounded fantastic, had great energy, and were way more competitive in pricing than other bands.

Working with Hit Play was a true pleasure and the band made our wedding a night to remember by us and our guests. During the preparation period, Ryan was very flexible when we asked to add a saxophone player (highly recommend!) and the band even learned two songs two weeks before the wedding. At our event, the band put personal touches on their playlist after hearing references to bands and musicians during our ceremony and speeches. By reading the energy of the room, Hit Play kept our dancefloor full for the entire night!
Hit Play band was THE best choice we made for our wedding. Everyone at the wedding said that it was one of the most fun weddings that they'd ever been to and that the band was one of the best parts. Ryan and the band were really in tune with the crowd, kept the energy levels up, and got even the non-dancers up and on the floor. The highlight was a spontaneous little pop-punk set they did towards the end of the night. They also paid attention to all the details - making sure we had the right mics for a windy day on the water during the ceremony and that the reception ran smoothly. I truly couldn't have asked for a better band and would recommend to anyone.
You cannot go wrong booking HitPlay as your wedding band! Ryan, the leader, was extremely responsive and easy to work with. Everyone was so friendly and the band was absolutely amazing. We had everyone on the dance floor and the band was really interactive with our guests too. I had my wedding in August of 2021 and Hit Play was the best wedding decision I made! I first saw them play in Newport and immediately knew I wanted to have them play my wedding. The band manager Ryan really worked with me to stay within my budget and was very generous. He was very responsive to emails and even day of questions I had! The band was amazing! People are still raving and asking where they can see the band play again. They played all the songs I had requested and kept the dance floor full the entire night! We had Hit Play at our wedding on 9/25/2021 and they were FANTASTIC! Ryan was so great to work with throughout the whole process and made sure all of my requests were played throughout the night! They are great at choosing songs that work with the crowd and everyone at my wedding was on the dance floor the whole night!! Really....no one sat down! We couldn't recommend them enough.
We had Hit Play perform at our wedding. Ryan was so easy to work with. He was professional, responsive and a great lead vocalist/guitar player!! The entire band made the night memorable. They made the night extremely personalized and even gave us the option of learning some new songs for our wedding that were outside of the set list. They played back up as my dad sang a punk rock song at the end of the night which he was so appreciative of. All of our guests commented on how they were the absolute best band they had seen at a wedding!! So many of the guests were asking for their info. Ryan and his band were awesome!! Ryan was esay to communicate with. Together we made a plan for the evening; he was willing to move around our venue to create just the right atmosphere. Music is one of the hardest choices for a couple during the planning process and Hit Play was one of the best decisions for our wedding! Ryan was organized, helpful, and flexible leading up to the big day which made me feel at ease. The band was super accommodating as they traveled 2 hours during a heat wave (98 degrees and rising) without a complaint or worry whatsoever. At an extremely reasonable price, Ryan was available for our ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception. Ryan’s smooth like butter voice serenaded the crowd with the best playlist curated mostly by the band with some guidance from us during the planning process. Most importantly our guests loved what Hit Play had to offer and never left the dance floor. Hit Play helped us create beautiful memories to reminisce on forever.

I cant possibly say enough about Ryan and and Hit Play. They were absolutely fantastic. Ryan was super attentive in helping me and my wife get exactly the right songs we wanted played for all the different parts of the ceremony. He was patient and helpful and was a true professional. As far as the performance? Perfect. Ceremony was great and the after party rocked. The band brought so much energy that the crowed actually begged them to keep playing and multiple people asked me for their contact info. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience.

Hit Play helped made our wedding AMAZING! They had everyone dancing until the reception ended with a great selection of songs from every decade. Ryan was also a great DJ during their short breaks and also resided as the MC for the event, introducing the wedding party, special dances, cake cutting and speeches. The band learned our requests in advance, to perfection, and even took requests from our guests! We filled out an easy form that helped give them the info they needed to announce and perform. My wife and I were allowed to have peace of mind because the entire band was so professional, there was never any issue or need to second-guess anything. They had it all covered and brought up things we forgot to cover. I can't recommend them enough. HIT PLAY FOR THE WIN!
Hit Play did an amazing job at our Winter Winery wedding! We found Ryan when he was playing some of our favorite tunes at a dive bar and had to have him! He played a mix of wedding favorites, with our favorites (Pearl Jam, Zep) sprinkled in. Everyone was dancing. Ryan was super communicative throughout the entire process and totally understood the vibe we were going for. The female vocalist was awesome, too. Her rendition of ‘Valerie’ was so amazing!
This band was absolutely phenomenal!! The vocals during dinner time were perfect and set the nicest atmosphere. And when time came to get the party started they crushed it!! They played Pony by Ginuwine without a DJ! I am Peruvian and my husband is American. Ahead of the wedding my husband and I were scratching our heads to have a playlist that appealed to all of our attendees. The band kept everyone on the dance floor until the very last minute. A friend of mine got married a few months ago and they reached out to learn about our band! We truly believed they were an huge part of what made our wedding perfect! We highly recommend them!!!
Hit Play was the perfect addition to our wedding. Very honest, professional and fun to work with! We got married in June of 2016 and we are still getting questions and comments about how great they were and even asked for inquiries on their upcoming events! I saw Hit Play for the first time at a wedding I attended in 2017 and was so impressed that I ended up hiring them for my own wedding in June of 2019.
Upon contacting Ryan, he was very down to earth and sincere enough to give me a long call at the start of my planning to get a full picture of what I envisioned for my big important day. He was extremely organized and followed a step by step process throughout the year leading up to my wedding. Hit Play’s song catalog was endless and full of unique styles and genres. They took all of my requests and helped me organize a time line of events.
Ryan and the band were organized, punctual and remained professional throughout our big day.
Hit play sounded fantastic! Full of energy and got everyone up dancing. Very interactive and fun! You could tell just how experienced these musicians were. We received numerous compliments from all guests. My husband and I danced the entire night and got to hear some of our unique special songs that will forever be a memory from our wedding day.
Ryan and his band were absolutely amazing to work with! He made everything as easy as possible and I didn’t need to worry about a single thing on our wedding day when it came to music and entertaining our guests. He had great suggestions and was happy to help when I needed some advice on intro songs. Everyone had an amazing time and danced the night away. I can’t wait to have an excuse to have another event so that we can hire Hit Play again. I would give them 10 stars if I could!

We had Hit Play at our wedding 09/2019. They were amazing!! Played everything we wanted them to play they have a wide range of music that they play. Anything from country to old school songs to pop from today. They kept our guests entertained the entire night! Everyone kept saying that Wr had the most fun wedding they had ever been to and I think it was mostly because of the band! One of my friends even booked them for her wedding after coming to ours. Very flexible and reasonable. 100% recommend!
Ryan and Hit Play were our wedding band, and they were fantastic! We had an unusual wedding venue on one of the Boston Harbor Islands with us being the first to get married there - Ryan was up for the challenge and flexible/confident that they could make it happen - and they sure did! We were dancing all night.

I could not write enough amazing things about this band!! From being so easy to work with and accommodating, talent out of this world, and when I say my guests were on the dance floor all night, literally NOT one person from my wedding was in there seat!!! When ever our wedding is brought up in conversation, every person brings up the band!!

Ryan/ Hit Play put on an unbelievable show at our wedding! He really got the audience going, all while doing a solo acoustic act with amazing looping where it sounded he like he had a full band backing him at times. I have friends who still talk about an Eric Clapton- “Layla“ rendition he did in the set years later!
When DJ-ing, he played all the best tracks to set the mood and was a real MC who would crack jokes and interact with the crowd. Most of all, He directed the crowd When it was time for the ceremony, wedding dance, cake cutting, etc.
The icing on the cake was that he prepped 4 songs with my own band to weave in some smooth covers I was able to sing for my wife at my own wedding, thanks to Ryan!
I will never forget this night that Ryan made happen!
