n. During our tour, we were told that they only host one wedding per weekend, which made us feel like our wedding would be prioritized rather than being a quick turnaround from one event to the next. We also met with the previous Food & Beverage Manager, who explained that they would stop the golf game for 15–20 minutes during our ceremony to allow for a more private experience. She showed us a ceremony site by the clubhouse that we loved, so we decided to sign the contract! She ended up leaving, which I completely understand, and we later began working with Connor, the current Food & Beverage Manager. Connor was absolutely wonderful; he was kind, helpful, and easy to work with. Every single staff member we encountered at Hiwan was so lovely and friendly throughout the entire process. Overall, the planning process was pretty smooth, and I really appreciated that Hiwan provided the drinks, food, linens, etc. It meant we had fewer vendors to coordinate, which made the planning process less stressful. We also had a great experience at the tasting. The staff was incredibly flexible and seemed willing to cook just about anything we asked for! My biggest disappointment came about two weeks before the wedding. We were informed that the golf game could not be stopped for our ceremony and that there was only one "private" ceremony location available, which was right next to the large parking lot. This was very different from what we had originally been told when we signed our contract. My wedding coordinator even said she had never worked a golf course wedding where they didn't stop play for 15–20 minutes during the ceremony. Unfortunately, I didn't feel that the ceremony location was particularly intimate or special, and there are photos of a truck and the parking lot in the background while my bridal party and I were walking down the aisle. That being said, the REST of our wedding day was absolutely perfect. The food was amazing (several guests told us it was the best food they had ever had at a wedding!) They have some cool spaces inside for photos, such as the library. The staff was incredibly helpful, the drinks were great, and everything about the reception came together beautifully. All in all, I think Hiwan is an incredible venue, especially if you plan to have your ceremony at a church or another off-site location and use Hiwan for your cocktail hour and reception. Apart from the ceremony space, the food, service, staff, and overall reception experience were fantastic.
