Horning’s Hideout was a stunning venue for our wedding day, especially the Lakeside setting. The scenery was breathtaking, with vibrant hanging flower baskets, peacocks roaming the... grounds, and twinkling string lights, all of which made the space feel magical. We didn’t feel the need to add much in terms of decorations beyond the tables—we embraced the natural beauty of the location.
Since this was my first time booking a venue, I wasn’t sure what’s typically included in the base price, but it’s worth noting that Horning’s Hideout does have additional fees for things like Wi-Fi (there’s no cell service at the venue), extra tables and chairs, wedding insurance, a PA system, and more. While these weren’t deal breakers for us, it’s something to be aware of if you’re new to wedding planning.
One great perk is that you can bring your own alcohol without needing an OLCC bartender, though wedding insurance is required. The venue also offers unique options like camping for large parties, disc golf, and paddle boat rentals, which we used for some adorable photos!
The overall experience was magical, and our guests absolutely loved the venue. If you book a Friday wedding, like we did, you get access from Thursday evening for your rehearsal through Saturday at 9 a.m., which was incredibly convenient for setting up and leaving things overnight.
The staff did seem a bit tense toward the end of the night, but in fairness, we had a few overly enthusiastic (and drunk) guests. Despite that, I really appreciated their patience and their excellent communication throughout the planning process and on the day of the event.
