Amazing food, beautiful displays. Horsewood was such a dream caterer for our wedding day. Food was on of our top priorities for our wedding, and we were so thrilled with Horsewood...
! Not only is their food amazing, the way they display the food is gorgeous. On your wedding day you want everything to look photo ready, and Horsewood nailed it with their beautiful arrangements and displays. No stainless steel bins and sternos in sight. We were drawn on by their displays and when we did our tasting with them we were blown away with not only how good everything looked but also by how incredible the food tasted. Horsewood also cooks your food fresh onsite on the day, no making it in advance and keeping it warm for hours like so many other caterers do. Can't recommend this caterer enough! The birria taco appetizers and the late night corn dogs were such a huge hit with our guests. Bailee was absolutely amazing to work with, she helped us design our perfect menu and they were so amazing and accommodating for the couple of allergies we had on our guest list. 10/10 would recommend Horsewood for your big day!
Horsewood Catering did a wonderful job with our wedding food. The menu choices were exceptional, and the food was so good. It's not often that wedding guests rave about the food, b...
ut they all did! Thanks again Horsewood team!
Let me preface this with my fiancé and I never, never write reviews but wanted to share our experience...
We decided to do our homework on caterers for our remote mountain wedding...
in fall 2021 and we absolutely fell in love with Horsewood Catering. The Chef/co-owner, Aaron, was very pleasant and took 30 minutes to get to know us and help create a individualized menu based off of our tastes. We asked if we could put down a deposit on our dates and he let us know that he “was our chef until we tell him otherwise” meaning he would block out our date as they don’t want people to be pressured on a deposit. We were thrilled to have the opportunity to have them as our catering company. Their sense of family and Idaho culture mirrored ours and the vibe we wanted for our intimate wedding
Over the next few weeks we had daily correspondence to solidify a menu including appetizers, dinner, and dessert and agreed upon pricing. With everything set, they sent over a contract to be reviewed. We responded that same day asking the best way to put the deposit down and asked for a minor change to the contract (change quantity of 4 people attending the wedding). Of note, they had already signed the contract on their end stating they agreed to that date.
The next day, we received an email (not even a phone call) informing us that they had a COVID bride in contract from 2020 deciding to change her date to ours. After we requested a phone conversation regarding this, we asked if their Policy was to give COVID brides priority over ones already in contract and they said no - if they are in contract for a date they are not breaking it. We were floored by this response as we were clearly in contract. It was clear to us that it was strictly a business decision as they mentioned the other party had over 300 compared to our 50 people. After a disheartening conversation, they eventually admitted they were in the wrong but offered no action to correct the situation.
While COVID has taken a clear toll on everyone and there is no rule book for how to handle things it was disappointing to experience such a double standard in their policy and breaking of our verbal and written contract. Especially when we offered to place a deposit on multiple occasion but got told there was no need. I’m sure they are a great company but I wish in this situation they would have upheld their company values that brought us to book with them to begin with. My advice to anyone that is even considering this company is to get a written contract before even discussing terms as their word clearly can be broken in the right situation.
WOW! Rating Horsewood 5 stars doesn't even come close to do them justice! They are incredible in everyway- communication, decorations, details, delicious food..!
I was so nervous a...
bout finding a caterer for my wedding, after all it is a huge part in your big day. I wanted to find a menu that was unique and exciting, not just your typical chicken or fish with a side salad (BORING!!) ... Luckily, I came across Horsewood while surfing the internet and I was instantly intrigued.
They replied right away and explained how their process for catering works. Chef Aaron and his team are phenomenal at what they do. My husband and I had an idea of what we wanted to have on the menu, and Horsewood went above and beyond to make our wedding day perfect.
My guests (many who traveled from France) are still raving about the food, and it was HANDS DOWN the best food they have ever had at a wedding!
You will not be disappointed if you hire this amazing team, they will make your wedding day into the dream you wanted it to be!
Horsewood was amazing! All my guests were raving about the food all night and have not stopped talking about our Mac and Cheese bar to this day! I absolutely loved how creative our...
menu was and how beautifully the food was displayed. I would recommend Horsewood Catering to any bride that is looking for fun, delicious and personalized food!
I wish I could give Horsewood 10 stars. Our wedding was everything we could have asked for because of our amazing caterers. Aaron and his wife Jessie took everything my husband and...
I loved to eat and designed an entire menu just for us. They grew produce for us in our own garden plot and they had our own sheep's cheeses made for us. Everything they did was perfectly designed around us as a couple. The food was so unique (they served honey out of a honeyconb), frezh, and beautifully presented. I also have a gluten and dairy allergy and they made the most amazing gf/df food I have ever had. Most times I don't get to eat and they made sure this bride was going to eat everything. While working with Aaron and Jessie, it was like working with family. Words cannot even express our gratitude and appreciation for their work on our wedding day.
Amazing food, amazing display, and really really nice people! Almost every guest we talked to that night mentioned how amazing the food was. HIGHLY recommend Horsewood Catering for...

ed. We wanted to do a variety of food options and Horsewood did such an amazing job at providing such a wide spread. Communication regarding the final planning of the event was difficult at times, but once a meeting was scheduled, everything went very smoothly. Would recommend them in a heartbeat given the quality of food and presentation.
I can't begin to say how amazed we are by Horsewood. We had over 20 Australian guests coming to Idaho for our wedding, so we wanted to give them a local experience they wouldn't fo...
rget. We asked Horsewood to cater for farm-to-table, rustic Idahoan fare and it was jaw-dropping. We received so many positive comments from guests- everyone raved the food! I highly recommend- just the loveliest people to work with!

I've been to a good handful of weddings over the years; not in any excess, but enough to know that even the best catered wedding food I've encountered is just simply that: catered ...
wedding food. It's not bad; it's just never overwhelmingly memorable. The logistics of the landscape are very hard to overcome, making it almost impossible to create food that is wholly unique, or fresh, or plated and presented in any ideal manner. There's just only so much you can do within the constraints of guest count, budgets, environment, etc., and you just do the best you can, and that's completely okay.
And then there's Horsewood Catering. Holy fucking shit. Full stop.
First of all, let's talk context and mise en place. They sourced every ingredient for our menu within 25 miles of their front door. They started curing elk charcuterie the day we put down our deposit. They harvested line caught Idaho trout. They literally blessed the vegetables (which they grew deliberately for our event) before they harvested them from their garden to prepare the meal. They showed up to our remote, mountain reception with literally everything they would need in two pickups, including water, their heat sources, power, and cleanup, and themselves.
Now let's talk aesthetics. Actually, I won't spend too much time on aesthetics because I don't know enough about what I'm talking about to do them justice, so just look up some of their photo assets and you'll get an idea of the care they devote to their events. Marble slabs punctuated with aspen leaves from the surrounding trees; antique cranberry crates and cascading spring mix salads; IMMACULATE chefs coats and bandanas. Hucklebutter for days.
The flavors were bright and explosive, they chicken was the most tender I've ever had, the rillette was rich and dark, the candied elk hit all the senses, the trout was clean and firm, the produce was seasonal and made sense.
I'm going to undercut the quality of their food by continuing to try (and fail) to describe it.
I will leave one last note, however. We met with several vendors, and vendors all speak with a degree of sincerity whose validity is sometimes hard to be sure of. Aaron of Horsewood speaks with this sincerity when he describes his food and the people he makes it for. I can now tell you, without a shred of hesitation, that this sincerity is not put on. It is very real, and it deeply moving to be a part of one of his meals.
They were great to work with, very willing to work around my budget, SO NICE and the food was DELICIOUS. They even had a "tasting" night where they came to our house and cooked all...
of our food for the wedding a few weeks prior. This way we knew exactly what to expect on the day of, and we actually had time to sit and enjoy it! I recommended them to a coworker and they are doing her wedding in a couple of months. I would recommend them to everyone!
