I had no idea a “gypsy jazz” ensemble existed in the Kansas City area, much less one of the caliber of Hot Club KC. With a name and a sound that harkens back to Django Reinhardt, this group kept uptempo and swinging for the dance portion of the night, with mellower tunes during the cocktail hour. Since this wedding took place in rural Kansas, the violin (reminded me of Stephane Grappeli) carried nicely in the setting and the harmonica added a nice old-world touch. The band also accommodates the family’s requests, including the jazziest “YMCA” I’ve ever heard. For those who want a more personalized and classy live music experience rather than a DJ or a cover band you have to shout over, I highly, highly recommend Adam and Hot Club KC.
We hired Hot Club KC to play gypsy jazz (and a bit of bluegrass) at our wedding in the flint hills of Kansas. Not only were they very professional and organized; they knocked it out of the park musically. They took our suggestions and beautifully adapted some of our favorite tunes. Per our request, they brought an accordionist along, which added such a wonderful, personal touch. Five stars for this talented crew!
This review is for Adam and his string duet (cello & violin). We had them for our wedding ceremony in mid-MO this October, and it was seamless. We requested very specific songs for our processional and recessional, and Adam learned them just for us with only a couple of weeks notice. While we were worried prior that maybe we should've asked for a quartet (after looking at YouTube videos), but it turned out that the duet was perfect and didn't leave us feeling like we were missing anything. The cello and violin duo was everything we were looking for. The music added to the ambiance and set the tone without taking away from the "main event." We loved working with Adam, and would recommend him to anyone in the area looking for strings during a ceremony!
Adam and the gang brought beautiful, fun music that made the mood!
Adam was great to work with and the band was superb. Very professional and within our budget. They were a great choice.
The trio was perfect for our cocktail hour and we had the full quartet for the reception. Our guests loved the music!!! There was dancing and the volume was just right for conversation. Adam’s beautiful violin playing was perfect at our ceremony, and he even provided the microphone and speaker for the officiant. Highly recommended!!!
