It was an absolute joy working with Hot Mess Studio for my wedding hair and makeup. I worked mostly with Vicki and Max, who couldn't have been nicer and more accommodating. Every time I got an email response from them, I breathed a sigh of relief, since they always thoughtfully and enthusiastically addressed any question I had and were great at communicating every step of the way. Their whole team is wonderful and I had the best experience with them at my trial and on my wedding day, where they also did my bridesmaids' hair and makeup. They brought a happy and calming energy to the morning and stayed perfectly on schedule. They asked us questions and talked through our ideas, making sure we all looked exactly how we hoped and making adjustments whenever we asked. We all loved how our hair and makeup turned out.@ For me especially, my one big thing was the I didn't want to cover my freckles and their makeup artist Jaclyn made sure of it. I highly recommend Hot Mess for your wedding (and the studio in general - I got a great blow out for my rehearsal dinner) ! They are pros at what they do, always put you first, and go above and beyond to make sure you're happy.

With a large bridal party, including flower girls, they delivered flawless looks for everyone, working seamlessly with all hair types to create beautiful updos, half-up styles, and curls. The makeup suited each person perfectly, making everyone feel their absolute best. They were consistently on time, professional, and supportive throughout the planning process. A special thanks to Max for easing my concerns and crafting the perfect schedule, and to Vicki, who confirmed every detail and shared helpful reminders as the day approached. Hot Mess did an excellent job with my hair and makeup for my engagement photos, bridal shower, and wedding day. Alicia did my wedding hair and I could not have been happier. I will never stop recommending Hot Mess Bridal, they were one of my favorite vendors! My hair and make up came out better than I could have ever imagined and my bridesmaids said it was the best glam they have had! Not only is their work amazing but the whole team is very professional and accommodating. I went to their Studio when they were still open in Asbury Park and it was such a beautiful and friendly space. Every hair and makeup artist we worked with or spoke to was so kind. Our day of hair and make up artists were so attentive to our needs and wants and truly made the day of experience so amazing and my wife and I felt so natural and beautiful which is exactly what we wanted. Max and Vicki were our points of contact throughout the entire process of booking and they were both so patient, kind, and always checking in on us or available to speak with. My wife and I HIGHLY recommend Hot Mess Studios for any of your wedding day needs or if you just want to feel pretty!

I was so sad to take my makeup off at the end of the night because 14 hours later it still looked perfect. My whole party’s hair and make up held up all night and looked beautiful! Everyone came in with relatively flexible inspiration and the team executed everyone’s vision perfectly. I planned with Max and Vicki throughout and I have to say the entire salon is employed by wonderfully kind, talented and helpful people. I wish I lived closer to their Long Branch and Belmar locations so I could go for my regular hair needs. Their timing was also impeccable because we finished ahead of schedule!

I cannot recommend the Hot Mess Studio team enough! Vicki and Max made scheduling my trials and day-of services very easy and convenient. They were quick to respond to all my questions and very helpful when I had to make some changes and accommodated the early time request. I did two trials (using one session for my engagement photos with Alicia and the other for my bridal shower with Jess). We had the day-of service food & beverage packages and they accommodated a few dietary restrictions my group. I got so many compliments on my hair and makeup for each of the three events.

Where to even begin!! I couldn’t recommend a better studio for everything wedding related. From the moment I booked Hot Mess Studio up to the moment I put my wedding dress on, the Hot Mess Team was there to help and of course pamper me. Vicki was the sweetest and absolutely amazing! She made sure I had all of my appointments set up, including a much recommended hydrafacial with dermaplaining the week of my wedding (which was AMAZING). The whole team was perfect and my bridal party made me know it! I cannot praise Jess enough for everything she did for me! When we first met for my trial she just automatically knew what I wanted and exceeded my expectations! She also color matched my day of extensions PERFECTLY, like I truly couldn’t tell when looking at the pictures that I had extensions. We had only met a few times for the trial/hair appointments before my wedding but she was an integral part in making my wedding day so special! She made the morning so relaxing and always asked if I needed anything. She saw I was getting a little overwhelmed when all the vendors came to me at one time with questions, but she knew exactly what to say to make sure I didn’t get anxious. Jess truly made my day get off on the right foot, which is exactly what you want for your big day! She did all this while also making me look and feel like a beautiful bride! :)

Hot Mess is awesome! Their team is so kind and responsive. I had Tara do my hair and Julie did my makeup. They both were so wonderful and accommodating. We did a trial about 3 months before the big day, and I knew I made a great decision! There were just 3 of us getting services done on the day of the wedding, but they did such an amazing job on all of us. We used the bridal suite in the salon to get ready which was really relaxing and nice. Highly recommend!

We used Julie for makeup, Michelle for hair, and Alicia for both hair and makeup; there were 7 of us total (myself, 4 bridesmaids, and 2 moms). Our makeup was flawless and photographed beautifully; it also stayed all night! Our hair also stayed all night long, despite the wind we faced on the boardwalk while taking pictures. I did end up putting my hair in a ponytail towards the end of the reception, but this had more to do with how much I was dancing rather than the integrity of the hairstyle. All stylists were prompt, friendly, and excellent at their craft(s). The bridal suite at the AP location was perfect for us; just the right size, vibe, and location in comparison to our venue! I opted for the brunch add-on as well, which made everything so much easier the day of. Max and Vicki, the wedding coordinators there, are EXCELLENT - they are so responsive and helpful, it was quite unbelievable. Though they are closing the AP location, I can only imagine how beautiful the new bridal suite in Belmar will be!

Great experience with Christine from Hot Mess Studio! She understood how to do a soft glam and still make me feel like the best elevated version of myself. I loved working with this team throughout the process and am thrilled with how everything turned out.

I don't even know where to begin! The Hot Mess Bridal team were so professional while also being friendly and attentive. Jess did my hair and makeup for my bridal look. She listened to all my concerns and needs and was able to deliver a glam but natural look. She nailed it - truly! It was such a pleasure working with her from haircuts to the trial to the big day! Rachel and Heather did my bridesmaids hair and makeup and blew me away. They effortlessly followed each girl's request and were so accommodating. They truly highlighted all of the girl's natural beauty. Everyone was so happy with their looks. They made the morning so easy and fun - the whole experience was so relaxing, which may not always be the case on your wedding day! Vicki and Max helped coordinate everything and create a seamless schedule. They were beyond helpful and kind throughout the planning process. I feel so lucky to have had them all be a part of my big day! Truly could not recommend them all enough! My only regret was not getting married closer to Asbury so we could have utilized their gorgeous bridal suite!

Jess and Emily did hair for myself and bridal party. To say my expectations were exceeded is an understatement. To backtrack, I set up my date with Max who was sweet and very attentive. His quick responses and ability to get me set up in such a timely manner really put my mind at ease. Vicki, assisted along the way as well. She was also so sweet and provided quick responses, guidance, and answered any and all questions I had. I went to the salon first to color match my extensions with Jess. Immediately I knew Hot Mess did right setting me up with her. Her vibe is fantastic. I instantly felt comfortable with her and trusted her fully to do her work. As we all know wedding planning is extremely nerve racking and we want things to be perfect. After meeting Jess and my experiences with Max and Vicki, I knew hair was one thing I didn’t have to worry about for my special day. My trial went great. Jess really took the time to understand what I was looking for and just made it happen. I had one hiccup along the way, when I attempted to have my extensions colored elsewhere to match my balayage perfectly. I immediately reached out to Jess. I couldn’t believe how quickly she responded. She told me to drop them off, trust her, and she’d take care of it. I didn’t see them until wedding day and they were absolutely perfect. Fast forward to day of. Jess and Emily traveled to my parents where we all got ready, in the crappiest weather and were all smiles. Every single one of my bridesmaids, my mom, and mil were all extremely happy with their hair and the way Jess and Emily really listened to what they were looking for and again just made it happen. No ones hair moved all night despite the horrendous rain, all the sweat, and endless dancing. The amount of compliments I received on my hair specifically was insane. Overall, if you are looking for stylists and staff that will work with you and simply put your mind at ease in one of the craziest times, Hot Mess is it. I honestly cannot recommend them enough.

I recommend Hot Mess every chance I can get. I was blown away by my hair on my wedding day. Alicia is an amazing stylist and I’ve trusted her with my hair for close to a decade so I knew she would make me look like a complete goddess for my wedding (as anticipated- she DID). My mother, mother in law and bridesmaids were obsessed with their hairstyles, as well! Max and Vicki were an absolute dream to work with. Always quickly responsive, organized, and super flexible with schedule trials, payments, etc. Hot mess always exceeds my expectations!

Wish I could give Hot Mess twice as many stars--they deserve all the stars!! Booking Hot Mess was one of the smartest wedding decisions I made. The whole team is great. Max and Vicki were super helpful throughout the whole planning process and I got awesome cuts and color from Natalie to prepare. Tara was my stylist and she is just so cool, kind, fun and TALENTED. I was that fun bridal combo of super opinionated but totally indecisive, and at our trial, Tara was able to take a look at my incoherent inspiration photos and help me articulate what I *actually* wanted. Starting my wedding day at the Hot Mess salon was just a perfect beginning to the day--everyone is so relaxed and expert and excited for you, it's just a really good feeling! I came in wanting to make a few changes from our trial and Tara rolled with the punches. I also brought in a hair accessory I liked but wasn't quite right and Tara and one of the other employees came up with a creative solution for it and 15 minutes later had totally redesigned it for me. But most importantly: I walked out of there feeling like a TOTAL BABE. Never in my life have I looked so good. I was going for a 60s updo to match our 60s wedding vibe and Tara nailed it. The make up made me look like the best version of myself that ever existed, and not at all like the tired 40-something mom of a toddler that I actually am in real life. Also, this hair and makeup lasted through a 30 minute convertible ride, a summer storm, 80 degree weather with 100% humidity, and hours of dancing. Whatever magic Tara worked to make that happen I'll never know, but I am so grateful for her and the Hot Mess team!

WOW! I am so happy I chose Hot Mess for hair and makeup for my wedding! They were pros! So easy to work and plan with. Alicia did an INCREDIBLE job making me look and feel gorgeous. For my Wedding, I was most focused on how my hair and makeup was going to look. Claire not only gave me a flawless hair and make-up trial but also worked with me when i decided to make some changes to my hair for the day of the wedding. I seriously have never felt more beautiful in my life and I was so thankful that even though i wore my hair down in soft waves, they held up the entire day and night. Jackie and Chelsea and did an incredible job on my bridal party, Everyone looked amazing and I really appreciate their hard work:) Highly recommend they for any event.

I booked Hot Mess Studio after seeing another bride at my venue used their services via Instagram (Clare for hair & Julie for makeup). They offer discounted facial services for bridal clients so I met with Julie monthly for the 6 months leading up to my wedding. She is extremely knowledgeable about skincare & prep and she ensured my skin was clear & radiant for my wedding- plus I loved building a relationship with her before the big day. I worked with Vicki for scheduling who was super communicative and helped create a schedule that worked within our day of timeline. She was a lifesaver when I realized one of the bridesmaids was not included in the timeline, the week before the wedding and answered me promptly on MDW & ensured me she would fit her in with no changes to the schedule. Highly professional and easy to work with, plus their work is flawless!

charged me the absolute most amount of money possible for a hair style worth $90 tops, and had me pay $130. then overcharged me on top of that. price on website says $80-$125. i wont be returning.

I had a fantastic experience working with Tara and the team at Hot Mess. Max and Vicki were super communicative throughout my planning process of setting up appointments and payment. Tara did my hair and makeup for both my trial and my wedding day. She was so thoughtful throughout the experience, listening to what I wanted and making my vision come true. I was nervous about changing my hairstyle between my trial and my wedding, but was so happy with the french twist look Tara was able to do without flinching. We used the hair piece that my grandmother wore at her own wedding and I felt gorgeous all day long. Not a hair out of place -- she is truly a pro! On top of that, her energy was incredibly calming and confidence boosting on an important day for us. I feel so grateful to have worked with her.

We can't thank the Hot Mess team enough for creating such a special day for our wedding! Their organization and professionalism made the morning flow seamlessly. Heather, Emily, Christine, and Jaclyn made myself and the bridesmaids feel STUNNING and were extremely welcoming. I worked with Clare for my hair and make up for my wedding celebration. I could not have been happier with the experience. Clare was so easy to work with and understood exactly the look I was going for. We did a trial a few weeks before and I knew after that that I was in good hands for the big day! On the day of the party, Clare arrived promptly and set up amid the chaos. She was patient and kind with my elderly mother and mother in law and was even able to work in make up for my sister at the last minute. I absolutely loved my hair and make up! when I got my photos back from my photographer, I was so grateful for Clare’s expertise. Everything photographed so well! I would 100% recommend Clare and the Hot Mess team, especially the fantastic coordinator Vicki, for your special occasion!

Jess did my hair and make up and it was PERFECT. My makeup did not move an inch the whole day. My hair stayed so well too which was surprising considering it was raining and windy for some of the day! Emily made sure all of the bridesmaids hair stayed all night too! They only thing that went wrong is that somewhere there was a miscommunication on the timing to show up, but Jess and Emily did an amazing job getting everyone done on time while keeping me so calm!

We chose Hot Mess because they are located in Asbury Park where I wedding was taking place and we loved that the salon was nearby. We only booked Hot Mess for hair. After booking, I made an appointment to get my hair cut and met Alicia who I would be working with for my wedding. I loved her from the very start and she did a fantastic job with my hair. I mostly communicated with Max via email and he was always quick to respond and to help book multiple hair trials for me and my mom. Alicia was so kind and open to any changes we wanted. Day of, her and Heather came to The Asbury Hotel suite where we were getting ready and did a fabulous job with making us all look beautiful and were fun to have with us! 1000% recommend!

The name Hot Mess really spoke to me- and the picture reviews I had seen online made me sure this was who should do my wedding. Fastforward, 3 months before the wedding I break my leg- in Alabama. A week later I fly up for my hair and makeup trial- further living up to its name as I come in in a wheelchair and cast. The trial was amazing- I had both moms and my MOH with me, we were in a huge bridal suite. Alicia was so fun- she even played a T Swift playlist for us! We bonded over music, baby yoda, and being hot messes. To the point that when I went to message her to get my lipstick color, I accidentally did from my baby yoda instagram account. Hot Mess embraces the messy reality as well as the beauty of a wedding day. I had 8 bridesmaids, plus 2 mothers, and mothers of the kids, and my ring bearer getting "mini makeup" and Alicia and her team were amazing. They were so good with our 5 year old ring bearer, and everyone had a blast with their stylists. It really felt like we were all friends hanging out. My hair and makeup were perfect; with my Disney themed wedding everyone kept saying I looked like a princess and that was all Alicia (and the tiara). The makeup held up all night, even with sweating on the dock before the ceremony for pictures. I was also out of the cast before the wedding, but still needed to ice / elevate my leg. What I love about Hot Mess and Alicia is I really felt them living up to the name of embracing the Hot Messes we are, and not feeling bad for the messy parts of me. I cannot recommend Hot Mess Studio enough!

I have been using Hot Mess as my go to for hair and nails for the best 6 years so when I got engaged I knew they needed to be part of my day. From pre wedding services to the day of everything went smoothly and beautifully. I had two bridesmaids say "I have never felt more beautiful than I have today" which is truly an amazing feeling. The staff is super friendly and helpful and the new bridal suite is beautiful. The morning was able to be relaxing and fun hanging out with the bridal party! I will continue to use them for years to come.
