Hotel Lilien is a boutique hotel, cocktail bar, and wedding venue located in the heart of the Great Northern Catskills in Hunter, NY.
With 18 guest rooms to fill with family and friends and an additional private four-bedroom suite, this 9-acre property features a variety of flexible-use indoor and outdoor event spaces for groups of up to 140 to gather for wedding weekend events, including welcome drinks, rehearsal dinner, ceremony, reception, after party, and farewell brunch.
A newly restored, alpine-style indoor reception space will open in fall 2025 with two-story windows overlooking Plateau Mountain, a meadowed ceremony space, and a sprawling deck ideal for sunset cocktail hours.
ABOUT HOTEL LIILEN
The main estate dates back to the 1890s, while the Lodge was built in the 1950s. Both were recently restored and reimagined with one-of-a-kind antique and vintage pieces carefully chosen by the San Francisco design shop, Field Theory.

been stressful, but Jules was incredible. She was so patient, thoughtful, and accommodating with our many questions, which gave us so much confidence every step of the way.
The entire team truly treats you like family. Our guests still talk about how warm and welcoming everyone was, along with how special the whole weekend felt.
The lush mountain scenery made everything effortless — we were able to keep our florals simple and let the natural beauty shine. We stayed Thursday through Sunday and honestly wished we could have stayed even longer to soak it all in. Hotel Lilien is more than a venue — it’s an experience we’ll cherish forever.

Jules is an incredible partner in your wedding planning journey, the owners listen and help solve for any question you have, and the day to day staff and bar team are all super welcoming. It’s the perfect mix of trendy, low key, high vibes and personalized. re one day — only to realize at the time that the space wasn’t quite big enough. When we got engaged, I reached out about hosting our rehearsal dinner and was thrilled to learn they had acquired the restaurant next door and were in the process of transforming it into The Lodge, a brand-new event space.
Throughout the planning process, The Lodge was still under renovation, and Jules, the venue coordinator, was absolutely phenomenal. She kept us consistently updated on the progress, was incredibly responsive, and graciously welcomed us for more site visits than were probably necessary (I was just too excited). It was clear she genuinely understood that weddings aren’t one-size-fits-all and was thoughtful and flexible as we worked through different day-of flows that were important to me.
Our wedding weekend was nothing short of magical. Chris, the bartender and owner, quickly became a favorite among our family and friends — the kind of person who makes you feel like a regular even on your first visit. The entire staff was warm, knowledgeable about the town, and delivered truly premium hospitality from start to finish... to the point my MIL tried to take off her shoes and lay down on the couch and we had to tell her she didn't live there.
We're already looking forward to coming back to celebrate anniversaries for years to come at Hotel Lilien.

tle home away from home. Our guests are still talking about how unique the venue was and how perfectly “us” it felt, which meant so much to us.
What set the experience apart was the incredible team, especially Jules. Working with her was an absolute joy. She was attentive, organized, and genuinely invested in making our wedding everything we hoped it would be. When we had a less-than-favorable experience with our planner, Jules stepped in without hesitation and completely took control of the situation. She handled everything with professionalism and grace, allowing us to feel fully supported and at ease on our wedding day.
I cannot recommend Hotel Lilien enough for couples looking for an intimate, memorable, and beautifully run wedding experience. We will always be grateful to the team for going above and beyond for us and look forward to going back and reminiscing about our perfect weekend!

ntire process and they responded timely with answers, solutions, and suggestions. The staff was very flexible and was able to adapt to decisions that were made the week before based on weather. Throughout our entire stay they were extremely attentive and helpful with all requests, specifically Chris, Jason, Anthony, and Kiera. They really made our weekend perfect. Each room was pristine when we arrived and every single attendee mentioned how much they loved the accommodations. The food was also amazing, people couldn’t stop talking about the grilled cheese, tomato soup, and charcuterie/burrata boards. Looking back on our wedding as a whole, choosing Hotel Lilien was the perfect decision and we are so grateful for their entire staff making the whole experience so magical. The hotel has so much history and the original owner’s daughter, Meta Lilienthal, has a personal memoir called Dear Remembered World and the book describes her life in both Manhattan and Upstate back in the 1890s. While the property is now a hotel, the new owners have managed to expertly craft an environment that makes you feel right at home. Couldn’t recommend more.

ed by the hotel—the food and execution were fantastic (the peach cobbler is truly unforgettable). Our closest friends and family stayed on-site, enjoying the surrounding area, relaxing by the pool, and gathering in the many beautiful (and very chic) common spaces.
The ceremony took place in “the nook,” which was the perfect size for our 85-person wedding, offering an intimate setting with stunning aesthetics (there is a larger area for bigger weddings too). The reception and after-party ran flawlessly until midnight in the main lounge—an amazing night from start to finish.
Special thanks to Chris, one of the owners, who was incredibly attentive and professional throughout the evening. The other owners, including Daniel, and the venue event manager, Jules, were equally wonderful—flexible, communicative, and supportive right up to the week before the wedding to ensure every detail was finalized.
While this is not a budget venue, if you can make it work, I highly highly recommend Hotel Lilien. The property is beautiful inside and out, and the team you’ll work with are genuinely good people who make the planning process enjoyable. We will remember our idyllic summer Catskills wedding at Hotel Lilien forever.

ere everyone could stay in one place, enjoy the property and the surrounding nature, and delight in slowing down together — letting guests truly connect and savor each other’s company.
Hotel Lilien was the perfect venue to create that kind of atmosphere. Basking in light and stunningly decorated, the hotel is warm, inviting, and comfortable. Our guests lingered over slow breakfasts, gathered for music in the library, and lounged with cocktails on the deck. Not only that, we barely had to bring any extra decor to the space because the vibe was already so good. It’s the kind of place that soaks up the love and energy you bring to it and gives it back tenfold.
Even more, the owners — Jason, Daniel, and David — along with the entire hotel staff, were wonderful to work with. They were friendly, flexible, and always available. We felt so supported by their warmth and professionalism, and it made the whole experience flow with ease and joy.
If we could, we’d do it all over again in a heartbeat. If you’re looking for a thoughtful, personal, and soulful wedding, look no further. Hotel Lilien and the surrounding beauty of Tannersville will offer everything you need to create a celebration you'll cherish forever.

come event. It was a pleasure working with the owners, through many months of planning right up to the big day. I can't overstate how accommodating and detail-oriented their team is -- and on top of that, they are friendly and fun, and know how to throw a great party. The hotel itself is picturesque and well appointed. I loved that we each had our own cozy room, but in the mornings and evenings, everyone came downstairs to hang out in the lounge space, which feels like an inviting living room. Their team set the tone for a great day every single day. They were always ready to help with things like distributing welcome bags, offering local recommendations and of course pouring superior cocktails. The surrounding area is magnificent in the fall -- the hotel grounds were pure autumnal splendor. We already love the photos we captured there. I would recommend this place in a heartbeat to anyone planning a quick Catskills getaway, or a much larger event with out-of-town guests like ours. Working with Hotel Lilien was a dream the whole way. We can't wait to go back again.
