Our wedding was BEAUTIFUL! It is a gorgeous venue. However, most of the staff was a nightmare to deal with. Communication with planning was next to impossible. It would take weeks to get a response sometimes. They would lie to my planner and say they tried to call me but they never did. And then they ruined a very expensive flower arrangement that we had to patch together last minute, were very rude and unapologetic about the situation, and then refused to make it right. This could be a wonderful venue if staff and communication weren’t so poor.
Oh what a night!!! My fiancé and I wanted a quintessential courtyard wedding and Hotel Mazarin in the Quarter was the perfect venue. The staff was amazing to work with during the planning process and the execution. Our bridal attendant was spot on taking care of our every need on our special day. It was wonderful having almost all our guests staying in one location together. It added a wonderful intimacy to our wedding weekend. The Patrick au Vin bar became our after reception spot to continue celebrating in a classy, yet relaxed atmosphere. We had approximately 75 guests and it was the perfect size for our wedding and reception. The location was perfect for our guests to explore the city during their down time. The night could have not been more perfect. Highly recommend for your New Orleans wedding!!!
After booking in February 2020, we went through a roller coaster of wedding planning before our celebration at Hotel Mazarin in January 2022. Through staff changes, package offering changes, and all the things that come with a global pandemic, everyone we worked with at Hotel Mazarin was fantastic. Their flexibility, understanding, and pep talks throughout the planning process were so helpful! The new catering, Pigeon, also knocked it out of the park. And thank goodness for that built-in cover over the courtyard, because we had quite the storm roll in with heavy downpour for hours leading up to the courtyard ceremony - staff went above and beyond, even bringing out a shop vac to clear water off of the cover more quickly. If you're dreaming of a romantic courtyard wedding - this is the place!
Love the venue, catering, and coordination on the day of. Only issue was communication with the hotel and staff leading up to the wedding. Management went through many changes due to covid, hurricanes, etc… we found it very difficult to contact people at times, and were told we would hear from a coordinator for the day of our wedding, but we never did… Everything came together in the end, and the wedding was beautiful, but just wish the communication had been a little better.
I don't even know where to start in putting into words how wonderful the Hotel Mazarin and their staff are- from helping me to reschedule our wedding originally planned for June to opening up the hotel for our family and friends to celebrate our wedding a few weeks ago it was EVERYTHING I ever dreamed of!
The staff went above and beyond to bring the hotel back to life after having been closed for three months- on top of helping us to ensure our every need was met, questions answered, and detail attended. Michael, Tara, Laurie, Vanessa, Chef Agnes, Haywood, and everyone else at the hotel made this wedding seamless for us and our guests. Thank you is not even close to adequate to show my appreciation for everything they've done, but I would recommend this venue to anyone looking for an intimate New Orleans wedding.
Hotel Mazarin was an absolute pleasure to work with these last few months. In general the hotel is gorgeous, but what I loved the most and sold me was you don’t need to bring in a ton of decor. On it’s on it is so beautiful. I am a covid bride and have made the difficult decision to cancel my wedding and elope with my family. Up until this point Rachel, Laurie, and Tara have gone above and beyond trying to make my wedding day happen. They truly were my ride or dies. As things changed by the day and more restrictions were made, they never canceled on me they kept pushing forward. I think I hung on so long because they truly made it feel my day was going to be possible. I would recommend hotel Mazarin to anyone. Not to mention the 2 big suits are unreal!
Absolutely beautiful venue! The fountain is the centerpiece. Everything went to plan. Rachel was awesome throughout all the planning that we had to make. I highly recommend Hotel Mazarin for a wedding.
Our wedding at Hotel Mazarin (10/12/19) was AMAZING! We had our ceremony in the courtyard and reception in La Louisiane. The fountain and greenery in the courtyard makes for a beautiful ceremony location! The food was delicious, the staff was extremely attentive and the bridal attendant went above and beyond to make sure that the bride and groom were getting special wedding day treatment! Everything went so smoothly and perfectly! During the planning process, I worked with Rachel who was SO helpful. She was always so sweet, quick to respond, and highly organized! I’m so happy that we chose this venue for our wedding day!
OH MY! Talk about a day I will never forget! This venue is a MUST! My guests kept asking how we found such a beautiful venue in such a great spot! The bar and grill is just a hallway away and the entrance of both the court yard and reception are absolutely beautiful! The courtyard is basically decorated itself and hardly needs any flower arrangements for your big day! It’s beautiful the way it sits! La Louisiane was our reception area! It was the PERFECT size for approximately 100 guests and could easy fit more or less! I couldn’t have asked for a better venue! I’m so relieved with how well everything turned out! It was better than expected! The staff were extremely helpful! Rachel was the best and great for those planning a destination wedding!
We had our wedding here May 25th 2019 and we couldn't have found a better place. The food was AMAZING and the staff was so great. Rachel did an outstanding job. We had our ceremony in the courtyard and the reception in the La Louisiane Bar. Had around 80 guests and it was perfect size!
Highly Recommend!!!!
One of the best decisions we made for our March 2019 destination wedding in New Orleans was choosing to hold our ceremony and reception at Hotel Mazarin and La Louisiane. Planning an out of town event is stressful, but in the months leading up to the wedding, Rachel was so attentive, answering our MANY questions and providing us with good suggestions. The outdoor courtyard was a beautiful spot for our ceremony, and since the weather was iffy, having the retractable canopy available meant one less thing to worry about. Our reception at La Louisiane was first rate as well. The decorations were elegant and the food was delicious. Miss Nedra was also the perfect bridal attendant. She had us where we were supposed to be at the right time and she made sure a glass of champagne was available at all times. To top things off, when our DJ was suddenly unable to perform, Donald stepped in, got music going and made announcements until a replacement DJ arrived. All in all, we couldn't be happier with the way we were treated by everyone at Hotel Mazarin. They did a wonderful job making our wedding day one we'll always remember.
Hotel Mazarin was everything we wanted for our ceremony and reception. It is such a beautiful place with amazing food. Rachel, Callie and staff are fantastic people to have on your wedding team. We could not have done this without them and it was so very easy! Thanks so much to everyone!
Perfect! That's really all their is to say. If you are looking to embrace the beauty of New Orleans architecture in a venue this is where you need to get marriage. Working with Rachel and her team was wonderful, she was so attentive and answered all of our questions in a timely manner. The day of the wedding was perfect, the bridal suite was phenomenal. Our bridal attendant, Nedra, oh she was absolutely a delight and made sure we stayed on task with everything from beginning to end. I just can't say enough wonderful things about this venue and we are so grateful to have had our wedding at the Hotel Mazarin.
Our wedding experience at Hotel Mazarin was truly a first-class experience. As out-of-towners, we had the pleasure of working with Rachel as our wedding coordinator. Rachel is a true professional and an absolute pleasure to work with. In preparation of our wedding, she maintained frequent communication through email and phone calls to address our concerns and, in the event of inclement weather, exhibited great resourcefulness to reschedule tours of the property, the La Louisiane Bar and Catering Venue, and an appointment with Donald for a menu tasting that made the planning of our wedding easy from afar. She coordinated a room-block with the front-office concierge to ensure that our out-of-town guests were graciously welcomed upon their arrival and flawlessly executed the details of our courtyard ceremony.
The sheer elegance of the hotel’s European-style fountain in the center of its courtyard is a sight that is as charming and quintessential of the French Quarter itself. The lighting, décor and floral arrangements provided an intimate setting for our wedding day far too beautiful to capture in words. Photos don’t do justice to how gorgeous the property really is, particularly for a wedding ceremony.
The catering services were impeccable. We opted for a cocktail hour immediately after our courtyard wedding ceremony, in which hors d’oeuvres were generously passed around to guests shortly before our reception in La Louisiane. The boudin balls and stuffed artichoke were mouthwatering and knocked the socks off our guests’ taste buds, while beer and wine were flowing as guests celebrated. The first-class, top-notch service continued well into our reception at the La Louisiane Bar and Catering Venue, where we were assigned our own personal wedding attendant, Nedra, who treated us like family and made sure that every personal need was attended to and taken care of.
The sheer charm and beauty of the property, coupled with its truly outstanding and hospitable staff, makes Hotel Mazarin the “diamond of the French Quarter.” My wife and I are forever indebted to the men and women who work there. They made our wedding one for the ages, and will make yours too!

Simply wonderful! Our wedding was 11/3/18. We did the ceremony in the courtyard at the Hotel Mazarin and seated reception in the La Louisiane event space. Everything was PERFECT. Rachel coordinated everything beautifully and the event staff was professional and overly accommodating. My (now) husband and I are from out of town and flew in once to view the space then later to do the menu tasting. The event space is unique and beautiful and the food was fantastic. Rachel was very responsive via email and phone to all of our (sometimes crazy) questions and needs. The hotel blocks were perfect since all guests were out of town. I cannot say enough nice things about our experience, it was perfect and organized from start to finish.
Everything was amazing and most of our guests raved that our wedding was the best they had EVER attended!
The food was top notch, the service was impeccable.
This was a destination wedding, and I know I probably got on Rachel's nerves - but she was patient and very helpful.
Our attendant was so warm and sweet - she made sure we were able to relax and enjoy our big day. We couldn't be more thrilled that we chose Hotel Mazarin and La Louisiane!
We had our wedding ceremony and reception at Hotel Mazarin over Memorial Day weekend and I would highly recommend it to any brides who want to get married in the French Quarter! We live in Chicago, but planning the wedding from a distance was so easy with the help of Rachel and Gianni. They were incredible to work with leading up the day of and I was not stressed out or worried about any of the details. Initially I was worried that the courtyard reception would be tight given that we had 130 guests, but there was plenty of space for the guests and the jazz trio. There was rain that day so the retractable roof was key in ensuring that the space and guests were not effected. There was a hiccup during the flood alarm, but the staff was all over it and made sure that the problem was resolved quickly and with little to no effect on our special day. The guests flowed between the courtyard and the spaces off the courtyard and loved the option of being able to sit inside or outside. I did not expect to be wowed by the food, so I was pleasantly surprised when the guests kept approaching us complimenting the buffet. Several people said that the beef tenderloin was the best they have veer had. And I have to say that I think I am the only bride who has eaten two plates at her own wedding. Everything was delicious. I highly recommend Hotel Mazarin for a wedding ceremony and/or reception. Everything from the staff to the space to the food was top-notch. Thank you Rachel and Nedra and all the staff for making it such a special day.
We recently got married at the Hotel Mazarin and the event was amazing. Through the entire planning process, Rachel went above and beyond to help things run smoothly. During the ceremony the Mazarin staff took care of all the details so we could just enjoy the celebration. The courtyard was beautifully setup for the ceremony. The La Louisiane Room was great for the reception for those that wanted to dance, sit and eat, or stand and chat around the bar area. The food was delicious and plentiful, everyone ate well from the foodies to the picky eaters. We also hosted a rehearsal dinner in the Fleur de Lis suite and stayed in the presidential suite; both were excellent. We had an wonderful time at the wedding and the Hotel Mazarin staff deserve significant praise for making the event so great.
We cannot say enough wonderful things about our experience at Hotel Mazarin for our ceremony and reception (December 2017). From our first meeting with Rachel to the time we checked out of the hotel the day after the wedding, we got the most amazing service. We lived close to New Orleans when we originally booked the space but moved to California several months before our wedding. It was no problem whatsoever. Every single hotel staff person bent over backwards to make our experience (and the experience of our family and friends) fantastic! The food was delicious, the cake from Haydel's was so good and easy to set up. We would recommend Hotel Mazarin without hesitation! The location is ideal but the service is really was made our experience amazing.
Our wedding this September (2017) at the Hotel Mazarin was spectacular. Beginning with the pre-wedding communications (including other vendor recommendations, room bookings for us and our guests (we're all from out of town), answering questions about the space, etc.) and continuing right through the day of the wedding, the catering and hospitality staff (especially Rachel and Gianni) made sure our wedding exceeded our expectations. Everyone at the hotel (front desk, doorman, bellhop, housekeeping, breakfast waitstaff, catering waitstaff, concierge, wedding attendant) made us feel like we were the only guests at the hotel - they were friendly, engaging and gracious! The accommodations perfectly blended an old New Orleans feel with modern amenities (we especially enjoyed the Presidential Suite). Our early evening ceremony in the courtyard was beautiful (we didn't provide additional decorations) and the reception in the La Louisiane space was excellent for a party into the evening (it is better in person than the photos); food and drink were delicious and neverending; everyone had a different favorite dish. And, if you are lucky enough to have Miss Marion as your wedding attendant, your day will be extra special. We and our guests enjoyed every minute and give Hotel Mazarin 5+ stars.
Amazing courtyard for our wedding ceremony!!
This place is truly amazing from the moment you tour the place until you check out of the hotel on the morning after your wedding! The staff -especially Tara and Gianni- always quickly respond to your calls, e-mails and inquiries. The food was AMAZING as well as the suite in which we stayed during our stay. We had approximately 55 guests and everyone raved about our wedding. Everyone ate well and had an amazing time. I would definitely recommend them to anyone who would love to have a smaller wedding with everything from the ceremony to reception at the same place. I will be staying here again when I visit New Orleans for business and/or pleasure. LOVE THEM!
Amazing!
We had our wedding in the courtyard and the reception in the La Louisianne. The courtyard was a beautiful venue. The reception space was perfect and the food was incredible. The staff was very attentive and went above and beyond to make our experience an amazing one. I highly recommend The Hotel Mazarin for a wedding.
We are absolutely overjoyed that we held our wedding at the Hotel Mazarin and cannot say enough about how wonderful the hotel and everyone there was through the entire process! To begin with, the setting is gorgeous - we were married in the beautiful courtyard and we loved the Mazarin's beautiful reception room as well. We live in DC, so most of the planning was done by phone and email but that was absolutely no problem. We were fortunate enough to have a few visits down there during the planning process, and Rachel and Brent were great to meet with ahead of time to review all of the details. Tara and Gianni were also super helpful in setting up our hotel block for our guests. Everyone absolutely loved the venue - both for the wedding as well as the hotel where they stayed for the weekend. The food was so amazing! We had so many guests tell us that it was the most fantastic wedding food they had ever tasted (and we have to agree!)! Among the highlights were the oysters and Mary Ann's amazing bananas foster. We could not be happier with the Hotel Mazarin and cannot wait to visit them again!
Can't thank Hotel Mazarin's staff enough for a beautiful and fun night. The team were pros at making sure the order of program went smoothly, while also giving us space to enjoy ourselves. Food was tasty and drinks were strong too!
We had a wedding in Nola and all of the wedding party and guests stayed at Hotel Mazarin! We loved everything! The breakfast is fantastic! The rooms are big and beautiful! Trying to arrange the block of rooms for my guests was a pain but once we got there everything was great!
We recently got married at Hotel Mazarin. We had our ceremony in the Courtyard and our reception in the La Louisiane room. Our guest count was 100 people, and the space was the perfect size. The venue was beautiful and we got rave reviews from our guests about the venue, service and food.
We initially chose the venue for three reasons: 1) Location; 2) Rain; 3) Wedding Package
Location: We wanted guests to stay downtown and not have to worry about renting a car or taking a taxi to get to the wedding venues. The Mazarin is walking distance from all of the big hotels on Canal street. Also, it is a block from Bourbon street, so the wedding could continue even after the last call.
Rain: We both went to Tulane, so our ideal wedding locations was at Audubon park. However, planning an outdoor ceremony in rainy New Orleans felt too risky, especially after learning how expensive tents can be. We chose Hotel Mazarin because while they do have the ceremony in their outdoor courtyard, the courtyard can be covered by a plastic tarp in case of rain. The tarp is not a distraction at all—it is clear and still lets in the same amount of light. Also, it felt like they temperature controlled the courtyard which was a blessing during the 90 degree NOLA days.
Wedding Package: We live in California and planned the entire wedding over the phone & internet. Since we went to Tulane and were familiar with the French Quarter area, we didn’t think it was necessary to plan a trip to the city just for wedding planning. That being said, we knew that we wanted a venue that was relatively all inclusive (providing both ceremony + reception spaces, catering, decorations, and a bar). Mazarin was able to provide all of these items plus a wedding coordinator, a day of wedding attendant, a cake from the best bakery in NOLA, and a hotel room on the night of the wedding. The only outside vendors necessary were florist, musician and photographer. This made planning the wedding 100x easier!
Some tips when planning with Mazarin:
-Be sure to lock down your catering contract as soon as you sign your initial contract. We were not aware these were two separate contracts at first. The catering fees will continue to increase, so our budget was a little thrown off. They did allow us to remove items from the menu so that our per person catering fee was what we had initially budgeted for, but it would have saved time and stress to sign the catering contract right away.
-While the venue is mostly all inclusive, you can still the schedule of the day, décor, music, flowers, etc to make your wedding very special and unique. Just be sure to have a detailed plan and walk though it with Rachel prior to the wedding so that she is clear of your vision. Often time Brides have a detailed wedding plan in their head but fail to share it with others, so they are disappointed when things don’t go exactly as they have envisioned.
Overall, we couldn’t be happier with our experience with Hotel Mazarin. I would recommend them to anyone planning a wedding in New Orleans.
The La Louisiane is part of the Hotel Mazarin, which is a great little hotel right in the heart of the french quarter. Excellent food, exceptional service and a perfect location!
* Size: We had 60 guests at our wedding and the size of the venue was absolutely perfect for our reception.
* Service: The service was great! Our attendant for the night made sure that everything we needed was provided. She did an incredible job with making sure we were fed and had drinks if needed. My bustle broke during our second line and she even had a safety pin handy and assisted with fixing my dress. Our guests talked about how great the bartender was also.
*Food: The food was incredible. We did our tasting and were very impressed, my husband and I are "foodies" and the dinner was impressive. I would recommend the shrimp and grits and the baked oysters. Our guests raved about the food, and said the Jambalaya was some of the best they have had. I also had two guests that needed a special plate, and with prior planning, the kitchen was very open to that. One was a vegetarian, she received a great meal! The other guest has gluten allergies, the chef prepared a great gluten free meal and she said it was the best meal she had while in NOLA. After the wedding, they brought us plates to our room so we were able to enjoy more of the wedding food. Which was just what we needed! They include the cake in the wedding package as well.
*Space: The venue itself is so beautiful, that we didn't feel the need to bring in a lot of decor. We kept it minimal. Being an OOT bride, that was important to us. The La Louisiane provided the linens, candles and cake stand. There is a gorgeous distressed brick wall that made for some incredible photos. The bar is beautiful as well.
Overall, I would definitely recommend this venue. We had no complaints, an incredible night, and all of our guests talked about how great the food was and how beautiful it was inside. The venue is absolutely perfect.
This was a wonderful hotel to stay at in terms of location and offerings for guests for a wedding!
They offer a fantastic complimentary breakfast and everyone raved about it! I'm still dreaming about their grits. The food is delicious and they do not skimp on this buffet. You can even order pancakes, waffles, and egg dishes to your liking which are not offered at the buffet.
They also have a beautiful courtyard to hang out in and 2 fun bars: Patrick's Wine Bar and 21st Amendment Bar (which has good live music). Guests receive "free drink" tickets for both bars upon check-in. These options made for easy socializing and meetups with our guests during the trip vs. having to find a place to have everyone meet at, walk or take cabs to, etc. Having it all at the hotel really made our lives so easy to entertain and visit with our guests for a destination wedding! And, we pretty much had the bars to ourselves so it was like having our own space.
The rooms were quite nice and the beds comfy. The staff was great and made our stay very pleasant.
However, if you want to sleep during the night, make sure you get a room on the INSIDE of the courtyard. The noise from partying on Bourbon Street really travels and you will be kept up all night. We originally had a cute room with a balcony facing the street but had to switch rooms in the middle of the night because the noise was unbearable! We're not talking typical city noise, we're talking an experience as if someone is singing karaoke right outside your room in the stairwell! Trust me, it's LOUD. The rooms facing the inside of the courtyards are much better than the rooms facing the street--you can sleep at night and won't hear lots of noise from Bourbon Street. But, the staff starts moving the furniture around in the courtyard early in the morning for breakfast. The furniture is made of metal and the staff is dragging it across a stone floor...yikes! It sounds like nails on a chalkboard. I had read these same comments on Trip Advisor reviews and I'm surprised management has not advised their staff to lift the furniture vs. drag it so not to wake up half the hotel.
Otherwise, this truly is a wonderful hotel with a lot of character and everyone loved staying here. It's a good value for what you get--it doesn't have a chain feel. There's lots of unique touches with a very attentive staff. Unfortunately, I cannot say I would stay here again on a trip to New Orleans due to the noise issues. I got the same feedback from my guests as well.
Beautiful hotel that is one block from Bourbon Street and is QUIET!! Our wedding guests loved the accommodations and the Presidential Suite was perfect for my bridesmaids and I to have a day of pampering! I will stay at this hotel every time I come to New Orleans now
Before you read my review, you should know that I used to be an event planner and have worked with several companies and vendors. While this was my wedding, it was not my first experience working with vendors at an event like this...
My fiance and I chose the Hotel Mazarin for our wedding venue as soon as we saw it. We looked all over for "the perfect courtyard" and we found it! Like other people who responded, the hotel changed it's name from the time that we booked the wedding to the time of the actual wedding, but it was not a problem to let the guests know and none of them had issues finding it.
The first time that the Hotel Mazarin was able to prove that they were going to make our day special no matter what came when we found out that Haydel's bakery would be closed on our wedding day. This, in my mind, was a crisis because that was the cake that was included in our package and the bakery that everyone told us to use in New Orleans. When I called Rached from Haydel's in panic mode, she was so relaxed. She called me back within the hour with the phone number and location of another baker, Swiss Cakes. We were able to drive right over and do our tasting. The cake was incredible, but more importantly, Rachel handled my crisis with ease. I knew that she would be great to work with!
We checked in to the hotel a few days before the wedding, and immediately were placed in the best room that they had, at no charge to us. I could not believe it - I really felt like we were famous people checking in or something... everything we needed was delivered to our room immediately... chairs, a refrigerator, water, etc... we were so spoiled!
Due to a death in the family, our guest list dropped DRAMATICALLY from the time that we booked to the week before the wedding. I was so upset and worried that we had spent a lot of money on a venue that was now WAY too large for our guest list. Rachel and her AMAZING team worked with us every step of the way. Acknowledging our circumstances, they allowed us to cancel the reservation of one room and reduced our food and beverage minimum, even though they really did not have to. Their generosity made this difficult and stressful time in our lives a little better and we were able to enjoy our day.
I cannot even begin to descibe how wonderful the food was! My (now husband) and I joke all the time that we want to go back and eat at our wedding reception again! Our guests also loved the food and are still commenting on how wonderful it was! The chef made a custom menu for us and the hotel even went the extra mile to make individual menus for the guests as this was a last minute change. I could not even believe it! They really went out of their way to take care of everything.
After cutting the cake, the staff gave the guests individual "to go" pieces.. another detail that was not discussed but amazing.
The servers and bartenders at the Hotel Mazarin were experts as well. They took care of our guests with smiles on their faces and the best manners around! I could not have asked for more from them.
I believe that our event manager's name was Wilfredo, but I could be mistaken. He was on top of everything with an ease that was contagious. His attention to detail truly made the evening flawless. He changed everything that I asked him to change, and he constantly reassured me that things were beautiful. That is just what I needed to hear, and I was so glad that he was there to
The courtyard looked stunning! This hotel was recently renovated -- its beautiful but also a source of a stressful situation during my wedding planning as the hotel changed its name during my planning process. We had a few bumps in the road during the planning process with not being notified of changes to the venue but overall, the reception turned out beautiful and we had an amazing experience.
fyi: There is an air conditioning system installed in the awning and it was supposed to be turned on for our reception. Thankfully, my dad went over to the courtyard prior to being picked up by the limo for the ceremony (St. Mary's church) because the air conditioning was not turned on. It was resolved at that time.
The hotel never bothered to tell us that they would be doing renovations right before the time of our wedding, nor did they bother telling us that the hotel was going to be sold and renamed right around the time that invites went out, so of course, our invitations were sent out with the old hotel name. Most of our gets were from OOT so this was obviously a problem. The coordinator, Rachel was very helpful throughout the whole ordeal. I probably couldn't been in meltdown mode most of the time, but I was surprisingly calm. The hotel sent out a nice little memo to my entire guest list stating that the name of the hotel had been changed due to it being sold. We actually found out all of this through theknot.com and I contacted Rachel one day and she confirmed but promised that she'd fix the problem by sending out these notes. She also reassured me that the renovations would be over by the time that my wedding came around. Great right?...
At first, we planned on chosing the "middle" package which was about 75$ a head but didn't have premium alcohol so we were going to upgrade that package. When we went in for a tasting, the only package that they offered you to taste was the most expensive package, but we were never told this. Slight annoyance, but whatever. The tasting was fantastic and we decided then and there that we would upgrade the package because we didn't know if the medium level package was as good and we didn't want to serve crap food to our guests. The alcohol was automatically upgraded with this package, so this also helped. The highest level package was now 100$ a head... grrr.... I will say though that people raved about the food and said that they had never had wedding food that was as good.
We also had the banana foster station, which our guests really enjoyed.
When our guest list became out of control, I called Rachel to tell her that we were not expecting 225 people instead of 180, and she informed me that we'd need to rent out more space. I think it was an additional 500$. It was really nice though because they opened another room and had an additional buffet so that people were not waiting too long in line for food.
Here comes the best part: THE DAY BEFORE the wedding, I got a call from Tara with the hotel who informed me that although they thought the renovations would be complete the found would not be operable for my wedding. Something about the copper wires in the fountain would cause some time of electricution if it was filled with water. Fanastic right? The WHOLE reason we were getting married was because of the beautiful fountain and courtyard and it would not be working… Ugh. Tara told me how sorry they were and that they could offer me a $2000 refund, hire a candle company to decorate the fountain so that it wouldn’t look ridiculous. I told her that I needed to call my FI and discuss with him then I’d call her back. After discussing, Gary was pretty upset as was I, but it was the day before our wedding and there was not much we could do but go with it. I called Tara back to tell her how upset we were and asked for another free hotel room which she gladly agreed
Louis XVI was a perfect choice for our wedding catering. Rachel made choosing our menu so easy. She even made sure that our vegetarian guests were well-fed (which is really hard to find in New Orleans). I didn't get to try all of the dishes, but the ones I did try were AMAZING!
Let's face it, no matter how great a chef is, cooking gourmet meals for 100+ people is always hard. Louis XVI pulled it off with perfect New Orleans grace and a lot of fresh ingredients...and yummy spices too. We can't wait to go back to New Orleans and have dinner in the restaurant!
