The First Look
Hotel Walloon in Walloon Lake, Michigan, provides more than a touch of historic charm and tons of elegance for your wedding day. Add that to the fact that it’s just a hop, skip and a jump from the waters of luxurious Walloon Lake and you’ve got a gorgeous spot for a traditional or semi-traditional ceremony and reception with flair.
The relaxing ambience isn’t the only thing the location has going for it. The views are spectacular and unforgettable, creating awesome wedding photos. Head down to the lake for romantic pictures of the bride and groom dressed in their finest. Or share a slow dance with a fiery sunset in the background, all reflected beautiful in the water’s pristine surface. Even playful poses look sophisticated here; have your whole wedding party head out onto the dock to capture a bit of fun.
Each venue provides a unique perspective for your wedding ceremony, reception and other aspects of the occasion. But they all share the same vintage feel and exquisite decor. Don’t forget to head to the drawing room in Hotel Walloon for great period photos in the presence of a classic chandelier and bookcases. The billiards room is filled with warm wood paneling and a deep-red billiards table just waiting for pictures.
Hotel Walloon is the most popular venue for outdoor weddings among the three available. It sits right on the shore of Walloon Lake, allowing you to exchange vows while looking out over the water. Your guests (up to 150) will be seated on a cobblestone boardwalk with magnificent views. Following the ceremony, allow friends and family to stroll a bit with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres before hitting the dance floor. You can also cap off your nuptials with dancing on the patio later in the evening, following a reception at either the Walloon Lake Inn or The Talcott.
The Talcott Walloon Lake's newest event venue, offers comfortable indoor space just across the street from Hotel Walloon. It can hold 240 guests comfortably for a reception and dancing. Depending on your preferences and the size of your wedding, the ceremony can be held in a nearby park, with a cocktail hour to follow on The Talcott’s elegant stone patio.
Walloon Lake Inn takes the idea of vintage to new heights. It’s filled with historic decor, crystal chandeliers, wood ceilings and detailed architecture. It’s ideal for intimate weddings with a maximum of 80 guests.

When Sam and I first started planning our wedding we both agreed we wanted a venue that brought our family and friends together for an intimate, fun and unforgettable weekend – well, Hotel Walloon is just that! Hotel Walloon was absolute perfection. I honestly wish I could give more than 5 stars because they truly deserve it. From the moment we reached out for a quote they were nothing but attentive, genuine, hospitable and accommodating. We instantly felt comfortable and knew we were in good hands. All of our wedding guests stayed at the hotel and have continued to rave about the service. The entire staff is focused on the guests feeling at home. Lauren Butwell was especially amazing to work with. I honestly can’t say enough good things about her. She’s incredibly organized, diligent and professional and she always manages to do everything with a smile. Another great thing about getting married in Walloon Lake (besides how gorgeous it is!) is how close everything is to HW. You have plenty of food (Barrel Back, Walloon Lake Inn, The General Store, Johan’s, etc ), drink and shopping options within a short walking distance. This was key for our guests! They all had plenty to do the entire weekend. No one was ever left wondering what to do next. Plus, Tommy’s (boat rental) is directly next door to HW so people were able to rent kayaks, pontoons, speed boats, etc with no issues. Other vendors we HIGHLY recommend: Tableau Events (wedding planner) BLOOM Floral (florist) Simply Sweet by Jessica (baker) Charlie Millard (musician) L’USA (band) Petoskey Farms (for wine tasting) Happy’s Taco Truck
