erally can't stand the typical strapless princess gown that everyone else wears. When I found Houghton I realized that the wedding gods were actually smiling on me when I had to find a second dress. Not only did I find the absolute perfect dress (well, lace crop top and long skirt) but there were about six other dresses that I would have happily gotten instead AND the experience with the woman who helped us, Kate, was joyful, fun and not remotely stressful. And I didn't just love it because I wanted to be some casual bride. I saw dresses there that would have absolutely worked if I were having a more formal wedding. All my married friends who came with me to try on dresses were instantly regretful that they hadn't found this place themselves when they were getting married.
I wanted a dress that felt like me and I found it. And it was completely reasonably priced. Every time I look at pictures I say "my dress was the best dress." Couldn't recommend highly enough.

The dress was made in NY and with my daughter living in Paris she was only able to try the separate pieces made in toile but it was a perfect fit, down to the tiniest detail! Everyone at Houghton's was very friendly, efficient and very helpful, we were in touch over the phone several times and they even helped me organize the picking up of the dress by a friends flying to Italy the week before the wedding. Houghton NYC is definitely for the bride looking to wear a one of a kind dress that will not be forgotten. I am still getting compliments on it. Best thing about my dress - it wasn't so fitted that I couldn't be myself in it and the embroidery was a work of art. I felt comfortable and sexy - it was perfection.
Houghton NYC makes more fitted gowns as well. The one I choose hung off my shoulders and still showed off my silhouette. It was such a special night and I loved wearing a Houghton NYC dress that went right along with my unique style.
