The food is absolutely amazing and we got so many compliments on it. All of our guests had such an amazing time and we truly got the wedding of our dreams! The price per person of this venue is not cheap but I think it is definitely reasonable and you get your money's worth! Highly recommend to other couples looking for a magnificent venue!

Janine and Houmas House staff changed plans and rearranged my ceremony to where I could still have it outside but make it comfortable for our guests. e Neptune ball room. I was worried about space, this ball room was way bigger then I could imagine! The staff was helpful and very polite! The food was beyond amazing! Once again our guest could not stop talking about the food! I’m one of those people that has lots of little details and questions everything, Janine went above and beyond in answering all my questions and assuring me everything would go along perfectly. She did become MIA on the day if I only talked to her once while I was there and that’s when she half greeted me, I guess she didn’t know I was the groom, the only other time she talked to me was to ask a random question. Didn’t come of as welcoming as she did in emails. Sadly I didn’t get much time to explore the plantation but knowing that all my guest had a great time and found the venue breath taking is all that matter!

Our guests loved all the food, the crawfish curry soup that is served as the guest walk through the house to the pavilion, was a huge hit, they also loved the tour, there are so many unique touches that really reeled us in. The food was incredible and they made 2 full to-go plates for my husband and I just in case we didn't get to eat. The price was extremely reasonable and we got everything we asked for. were the few bumps along the way: You don't get to taste all of the food options at the food tasting, so you're blindly choosing food if you don't like what they have available for you to taste. In our paperwork, we had decided that there would be 22 tables with 9 chairs each. At the wedding, there were not 9 chairs at each table, and this became apparent when all of our bridal party and dates could not fit at the reserved tables. They had to bring out more chairs. The food was not replenished at the reception fast enough. And we had asked to use their cake cutting set, and it was no where to be found during cake cutting time, and neither was the wedding coordinator, so we couldn't ask her to get them for us! Like I said, overall it was a great experience and I'm glad we had our wedding here, but you would think they would be better at the little things.

The grounds are absolutely gorgeous and our pictures turned out beautifully. For Houmas House brides, there is no fee to take bridal portraits on the grounds and you can also use the dressing room to get ready. We had our rehearsal dinner in the library, which was very intimate and cozy. The bridal party and many of our guests stayed overnight at the Inn on-site and the accommodations were luxurious and very clean. Our wedding day went flawlessly, thanks to our collaboration with the wedding liaison months in advance. I really appreciated that HH has golf carts with drivers available to help you haul your things to the reception venue and also to shuttle elderly or disabled guests around the grounds. The only complaint we can think of is that we wish we could've had a longer reception.

ny small touches make this venue a great choice for a seamless day, with lots of southern charm. We were married under the trees - a great choice for photos! They never hesitated to graciously answer questions and all their paperwork makes the day very organized. However, we chose the smaller reception hall - the Neptune Room - and the 5pm timeslot. We had very little time to use the grounds for photos after the ceremony, and our coordinator felt our wedding was understaffed. We felt throughout the process that since our venue was smaller of the two options, it was a "stepchild" treatment, including where the girls got ready - so try to reserve a cottage for prepping if you can. There isn't many room for change, so if you want lots of flexibility in a venue, this might not be the place for you.

With the help of Houmas House, we were able to host an experience of a lifetime for our guests and gained great friends in the process. The staff is very professional and extremely polite and creative. The plantation itself is absolutely stunning!! I could not have asked for a better place to have my wedding! The food was TO DIE FOR!! Every item was absolutely delicious!! I had so many compliments on the delicious food and surprisingly the coffee was really good too. Who knew? This place is the absolute BEST place to have a wedding all the way around! People are still calling it a "Royal Wedding".

eptune's Ballroom. The staff is excellent and accommodating for all your needs. The food was wonderful! Our favorites were the stuffed lobster, spicy gulf shrimp, crab cake canapes, beef wellington, and bread pudding!

make the day as easy as it should have been. For example, I was not told where I should go when I arrived so I had to carry all my things across the property. Then, after being told to go ahead and let the guests order the appetizers, I walked into the Library to find that most of guests were still waiting on their drink order to be taken. This was because they only allotted for one waitress for 32 people. Once my cousin and dad got a hold of them, and we had an extra waitress, things went a much smoother. Houmas House clearly knows what they are doing. The are professionals. I just wasn't impressed for what I was told would happen on my special day. ALSO, I gave the coordinator our programs for the wedding ceremony, only they were placed in the Library (where we were having our dinner) next to the wedding cake.

p of everything - super responsive and wonderful to work with. We had a few special requests (no beer bottles, sparkling water available) and they handled everything beautifully. We had a hitch on the wedding day with our transportation (we bussed in most of our guests from N.O.) and the buses were an hour late! The fantastic staff at HH did an amazing job with shifting everything back - including our sit-down dinner service - and everything was smooth sailing once the guests arrived. It's pretty expensive but you will not regret it!!!

I especially loved being able to get ready onsite, in the bridal cottage, which is set up for a full salon. It saved me worrying about messing up my hair and dress on the limo ride out there. I highly recommend Houmas House!

than the grounds fee!  Brides are given access to a changing room in the very back of the pavilion where receptions are held. This area is not open to property tours, and the changing room is not in an obvious location in the building. Like any other bride, I didnt think twice about leaving my purse in the room - after all, it was off limits and there wasn't even a lock on the door! We paid really good money - surley ther are cameras on the property and our things will be fine. We intentionally pulled the lock-less door closed and took the pictures. Not thinking anything, we left, only to realize on the drive home that over $80 in cash was missing from my mom's wallet. We double and triple checked, but the money was gone. We called to notify the owner of the property- just to let him know what happened, only to have him respond sarcastically and tell us that he couldn't believe that anyone would ever leave their belongings unattended! He said we should have carried our belongings with us during the photo shoot, or put them back in the car so they were sure to be safe.  His reaction to our call to notify him of a theft of a bride on the property that he owns AND lives on was that it was our fault and that this type of thing doesnt happen on his property. He yelled at both me and my mom for making false accusations and only offered an apology for the theft in a sarcastic manner.  A lot of brides use Houmas House for pictures and other bridal events so to have the owner treat paying clients like we were treated is unacceptable! I will never use Houmas House and would never recommend it to anyone because of the way we were treated.  Weddings are stressful enough for a bride to have to deal with being yelled at by a venue owner because she was robbed! The owner is unprofessional and is apparently unappreciative of his clients' business.  If you do business with Homas House, don't leave ANYTHING unattended... It might cost you more than you anticipated! And it will be your fault you got robbed!
