We had our late August wedding on House Island, and I am so glad that we learned about this venue and decided to hold our wedding here. The island is absolutely stunning, and we received so many compliments from our guests about how beautiful a...nd unique our wedding was. It was also a really cool experience to be able to stay on the island with our respective wedding parties the night before, and Biz and Eben (the island's caretakers) had clearly made sure that the houses were very clean and in excellent condition before our stay. I will note that planning a private island is very complex, and I truly do not believe that we could have done it without our fantastic team of wedding planners (The Prism House). I think this is important for couples to know before booking a wedding here, because hiring a planner can be a significant added expense. I will also add that there are many expenses of holding an outdoor wedding that we had not originally anticipated, such as renting everything from a generator, to a bathroom trailer, to catering equipment, to flatware, etc. Then, keep in mind that all of these things need to be transported to the island on barges, so you can expect to spend a good amount of money on boats for yourself, your guests, vendors, and so forth. Although we knew that holding a wedding on House Island would be expensive, we ended up extending our budget multiple times because of some of these costs, and I think that's important for couples who are considering a House Island wedding to know going into it. The one small note that I might make regarding the island itself is that I would have expected for the lawn(s) that we were using to be freshly mowed before the wedding, and they were not. With all of that said, this is an incredibly stunning location, and we truly had the wedding of our dreams on House Island. In spite of the added costs and the complexities of planning a wedding here, I would still go back and pick the same venue all over again if we were starting from square one again.
