I had been preparing for a wedding on our property for months and I had so much difficulty finding a "wedding officiant" I didn't even know what search term to use. I was starting ...
to think we might just have to speak our vows ourselves and go to the courthouse to file. But I really wanted someone to lead the ceremony in a way that felt true to me. We fall into the spiritual but not religious category.
When I saw the name House of Woo, I knew I had to call Barbara and Jonas. They wanted to know who we were, so they could create something that honored the commitment we were making. We had gotten engaged on the Winter Equinox on an Indian mound and wanted to get married on the Fall Solstice. We wanted our ceremony to be about gratitude and harvesting what we had sowed. We wanted community and group singing. A wedding really is a sort of a pageant. Barbara and Jonas were so helpful in staging and timing to help us coordinate and include the details we wanted.
Jonas chose beautiful words to fit our personality and values. He found ways for us to fit in us both speaking to the other in front of our friends what were grateful for about each other. I think everyone teared up at some point.
It was so nice to rely on someone else to direct things and bring to life our vision. I told my friend's afterwards we had the kind of wedding I would have wanted to go to,

Not only was he present, but he met our needs coming from a dual-faith household (Jewish and Lutheran). We wanted our families to feel connected, without including religion as the forefront of our ceremonies. Jonas listened to our wishes, included our families, and made each ceremony unique and special to us as a couple.
