Hydrangea Bloom

The first meeting we had with Allison was phenomenal, she answered all questions and educated us on floral, listened to what our vision was, and created a proposal for us. At the final consult we changed a few things around, and she confirmed we would have everything we wanted and were paying for. She even saved us money compared to our initial consult and we had asked if we needed to use that money elsewhere to make things more grand or if she thought it would be good without extra, to which we trusted her expert opinion and did not order extra. On wedding day she arrived an hour late for setup without notice, and without everything we’d paid for. The roses were half dead and brown, there was no floral on the head table at all, the bouquets were half the size we had discussed (and included pink flowers when we’d specified white and greenery), and we had nixed compotes for a more organic look (and she brought compotes anyway). The bride bouquet she created had a “bad side,” and guests were constantly having us flip the bouquet around to make it look better. The flower crown she gave us complementary for our late flower girl was one piece of greenery, and when we’d chatted it was supposed to be “over the top and full.” I will say she made our arch piece everything we had dreamed of and then some, and told us later that she arrived late on wedding day because she had overnighted greenery (but hadn’t communicated with us that she’d be late). She provided us floral gifts after we complained, but couldn’t face us in person to get them to us (she had sick kids, but it honestly felt like she was avoiding us). Her floral is beautiful when done right, but unfortunately she screwed up many things at our wedding, and her prices are not the cheapest in the Iowa Wedding business. She had also posted on social media she was in Florida the week of our wedding, and our bridesmaids made the connection that the floral looked “rushed and thrown together,” and we wondered if she had stretched herself too thin that week. We would not recommend her for wedding floral. We were extremely disappointed, and she tried to turn blame on us when we raised concerns instead of just apologizing. We also were not a priority after we responded that we were unhappy; it took several emails and six weeks for her to attempt to right her wrong. She seemed like such a nice person to work with, and we felt we had a good connection with her prior to wedding day. Our hope is this review and experience improves her communication, product, and business so that no bride and groom have to feel like we did on wedding day, and every day since looking at wedding photos.
