Icing on the Cake

Icing on the Cake never lets me down and my wedding was no exception. They did a fantastic job on my wedding cake and cupcakes. They were delicious and looked beautiful- better than I imagined. The chocolate, red velvet, and banana cupcakes were so tasty, as usual, but the banana is by far my favorite!

We had a great experience with Icing on the Cake! Our cake tasting was easy to schedule and reasonably priced, and Diane took great care of us. And most importantly, their cakes are delicious!! We placed our order after we finished our tasting, and later when I called to make a change they were very accommodating. Our guests all had the highest compliments! I highly recommend them :)

Short story: We recently worked with Icing on the Cake for our wedding cake and dessert for our April 2016 wedding at Nestldown. We had an excellent experience from start to finish! Plus reasonable pricing. Highly recommend them for cake and/or desserts. Long story: For our wedding, we wanted a simple cake and lots of treats (think cookies, bars, etc) to fill a dessert bar spread. Having tasted some of the goodies at the bakery in the past, we stopped in to get pricing information. They were helpful and informative even though the store was busy. We booked a tasting for a weekend— got a morning slot which seemed weird but it was much calmer in there which was nice. Sample portions were GENEROUS. We came just the 2 of us, and it was a lot of sugar before noon! We tried 4 combos of cake/filling/frosting, yum. It was easy from there to order the cake and bars and cookies. They were helpful in working with us to estimate quantities (total amount and the size of the bars, all customizable)— appreciated that! Execution was a breeze too — pickup the day of went smoothly, everything was delicious, and it didn’t break the bank! Love this place and look forward to a trip back for more Dosey Doughs! SO indulgent and amazing.

My husband and I were looking for a high quality cake that was simple, tasty and reasonably priced for our intimate, outdoor, fall wedding and that's exactly what we received. They did such a great job on our two-tier filled red velvet cake and the red velvet and pumpkin cupcakes were so moist and delicious that our guests were going back for seconds and thirds and even taking them home. The cream cheese and vanilla buttercream icing were creamy and not too sweet and the cream cheese filling that we had for our two tier cake is a must. The tree trunk detail and the personalized heart detail turned out super cute and the edible leaves that we provided to be placed on the cake looked great. We were a bit concerned about how it would turn out as the few times that we went in for the tasting and cake consultation appointments we ended up speaking with different people each time but we end up with a beautiful delicious cake : ) -Kim L.

My husband and I ordered a small cutting cake from Icing on the Cake for our wedding, and we couldn't ask for a better tasting cake! We had their marble cake with their delicious cream cheese icing. It was inexpensive and simply delicious!

This was actually a really affordable dessert option. I kept it fun by ordering 4 different flavors and guests loved them!

My cake tasting was fantastic. if you want a delicious cake this is the place. I found their customer service to be lacking at times. Be sure to get all the specifics upfront. For example: delivery and setup fees and requirements. They do have a minimal order requirement which is understandable but it was not explained during my cake tasting.

We wanted mini pies for our wedding, but couldn't find them anywhere, so we ended up going with Icing on the Cake for our pies and they were delicious. Carefree ordering and pick up, which made things very easy. Just wish pies weren't so expensive these days..

My new husband and I valued the taste of the cake over the design so we ordered an 8 in round for display and cutting and then served 3 other flavors from sheet cakes. As always, Icing on the Cake was amazing and we received a lot of compliments from our guests. At our tasting and consultation, our assistant was very helpful in guiding us toward good flavor combination and how much cake to order. They normally charge for delivery and were fine when we opted to pick up the cakes ourselves. Although simply decorated, the cake looked elegant and, most importantly, was delicious!

My tasting was wonderful and the woman who helped me was excellent!!! The tasting fee is $15, which I thought was reasonable for the number of samples and quality. After trying many different samples and listening to how they could customize my cake, I knew I wanted to purchase my wedding cake there. The samples were delicious! I really liked the vanilla mocha and the almond icing. Finally, after narrowing down the choices I returned to the shop to place my cake order. Unfortunately, the woman who I worked with during the tasting was not there, so I dealt with another employee who I found to be abrupt in his manner with me. He informed me that they couldn't match the icing for the two different tiers that I had selected, so I needed to choose different flavors. I must have misunderstood this information from the tasting, because I was under the impression that they could match the different icings. So I was a little confused. To speed along the process he then suggested an alternative flavor that he said was very popular. When I told him that I didn't like the flavor he was suggesting, he said rather abruptly that I wasn't the only one who would be eating my cake. At that point I didn't want to interact with that man anymore, so I decided to leave and return on another day. When I returned, the previous woman I had worked with helped me out again and she took care of everything! I was very pleased with her level of professionalism and service. The wedding cake was delicious and beautifully decorated!!!

The most important thing is taste - and this is the one and only reason I went with them. My cupcakes tasted great. The down side - they just weren't customer friendly. They are busy and the attitude clearly conveys that. They will not deliver (even for a fee), they charge a lot extra for even the smallest customization (nothing fancy, just plain frosting), they wouldn't schedule a tasting for me but had me come in and buy what I wanted to taste (hard since their flavors change daily, and even though I called and they said they had a flavor I wanted once I got there it was gone and the answer was 'come back tomorrow' - not sorry we had you drive 20 miles for something we said we had and are now out, just come back tomorrow). Taste does win out in the end, but a little bit more service would sure help given their prices.

For our wedding cake we did something slightly untraditional. We had a 6 inch cake that we presented as our wedding cake that was decorated and whatnot. To save money, we had 2 half sheets of our favorite flavors in the back that were being passed around after we cut our little mini cake. The flavors were Banana Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting and Red Velvet Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting. Both were pretty amazing (moist, rich, sweet, flavorful) but the Banana cake was absolutely delicious! Prior to the wedding, my husband and I tried asking the bakery to add extra banana puree to our cake because our little "tasting cupcakes" were good but not very moist when we went for our tasting. They refused to change their recipe (haha of course!) and stated that the cakes retain more moisture. Well they were correct and the cake was fantastic. We've gone back since the wedding (3 weeks ago) to get some more!

the banana cake with cream cheese frosting is to die for!!!! My husband and I couldn't stop thinking about it leading up to the wedding. The service is great and the cake is definitely worth the money! The only difficulty I had was finding parking in downtown Los gatos.

Guests went back for seconds and thirds. Awesome cake!!!

The cake was beautiful and absolutely delicious! They made us a dream cake.

We got our groom's cake from IOTC and got so many compliments on it. Once we tried the peanut butter cake with fudge frosting we knew we had to use it for our groom's cake. We just ordered two of the biggest rounds and paid about $80 for them. The plan was for the groomsmen to decorate the cakes but because they are the blessed men they are they forgot the decorating supplies. Nobody cared, they all just loved the cake. They are not flexible with designs and they absolutely do not do fondant. They do mostly traditional piped frosting designs, which give a simple elegant and timeless feel.

The best banana cake ever!

I am gluten intolerant and it is hard to find yummy treats that I can eat. I wanted cupcakes for my wedding, and I have a few family members that are g/f as well and I did not want them left out of the dessert portion of my wedding. Icing on the cake made my delicious g/f cupcakes to look like the rest of the cupcakes, and they were the first to go! Only a little disappointed that they would not deliver to my venue, less than 1/2 a block away without their $75 delivery fee. Kind of put a damper on my day to have to go over there to pick them up myself. Oh well...the day and the cupcakes were perfect anyways.
