I will start off that the dresses here are beautiful, and I don't regret buying the dress that I purchased...that's if you won't need any alterations or additional work to be done. The horrible experience came along when dealing with the owner for alterations. When I said yes to the dress, I told Ida that there's a few things I would want added. She did agree to everything we talked about.I bought my wedding dress then which was July of 2019, fast forward 6 months I called just to check in to see how it's coming along, and she didn't even start on what we talked about! After multiple appointments of trying the dress on, it was nothing I was dreaming of. Everything was butchered and ruined, random fabric glued onto my dress, random bobby-pin IN MY DRESS, things were not even which you can obviously tell because the fabric wasn't even cut correctly. After 3 appointments of me literally having to hold my tears back due to disappointment, my grandmother and mother convinced me to just take the dress as it is. I am still in the process of recovering it, but I obviously wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.
Ida did a wonderful job with my dress! She made the alterations we requested and was very accommodating. It was initially tight in the shoulders and waist and she let it out so it fit more comfortably. I received so many compliments on my dress! Thank you Ida!
I cannot say enough great things about my experience here! If you want to feel special, genuinely cared about and be able to hear the comments from your group and the own thoughts in your head...go to Ida's!!! Ida is very involved in assisting each bride and her team is small and invested in your happiness! Started here and went to two other salons, only to return and purchase my dress and veil here! This was the only salon that didn't make me feel bad for not having a year to plan my wedding or feel as if my options and experience were going to be limited because my fiancé and I decided to get married within 3 months of our engagement. Love the small, boutique and personalized feel! Could not have felt better about my experience!
Ida made this one of the most memorable and enjoyable experiences of mine. She made everything feel so personal and she truly cares about each of her brides. I walked in with a low budget and kind of an idea of what I wanted. I've tried on dresses at other stores, but I didn't find anything I like. The first dress she picked for me was perfect. It was better than I imagined. Her expertise was very helpful. I'm petite and have a hard time finding stuff I'm not swimming in. She knew exactly what would look good. She also gave me a brioche that matched my hair piece. I would highly recommend Ida.
I had a wonderful experience at Ida's Bridal Boutique. I called ahead and made an appointment, Ida got me right in and had several beautiful recommendations while maintaining one-on-one attention the entire time! I would highly recommend Ida's to every bride!
Ida is the most caring business owner and has the most beautiful wedding dresses! She will take such great care of you from start to finish. She hand washed my dress and did all the alternations herself. She spent so much time on my dress and making sure I looked stunning walking down the isle. I cannot recommend Ida enough to you all.
I would never recommend Ida's to anyone. First of all I am usually a size 8/10 and they ordered my dress in a 14 "which fit my measurements", little did I know I would have to have the dress basically remade. Then, my veil which took 8 MONTHS to get it was not the right one and when I confronted Ida about it she claimed someone ordered it wrong, after a little investigating I realized she lied! I got a refund and ordered me veil at Mias where I wish I would have gone all along. Horrible experience , I would never go there!!!!
I found the perfect wedding dress at Ida's! Actually, I found three! Bonnie my consultant was so amazing to work with she and Ida were very sweet and very helpful. They definitely made the experience one I will never forget. I can't thank them enough. We had such a great time throughout the appointment, we laughed the whole way through. They had some amazing dresses and the prices were better than I could have hoped for. They went above and beyond to make it special and I would recommend them to anyone looking for a wedding, bridesmaid or mother of the bride dress!
I found the perfect dress here at Idas. It was the perfect experience, from customer service, to gown selection and prices. I found a beautiful Maggie Sottero on sale for half off! Can't beat that. I also went back and bought a beautiful handmade birdcage veil from there, as well. Thank you for a great experience!
Ida's has a great selection and Gail, the women who helped me find my dress, was amazing and so helpful. Picking out and finding my dress was a good experience but after I had paid, the customer service was terrible and just added to the stress of the wedding. I was originally told when I purchased the dress that the shop would do alterations in house. I called about a month before I needed to schedule an alterations appointment and was told they no longer provide that service. This was incredibly disappointing as I got married in June, key wedding season, and many seamstresses were already booked. Additionally, many bridal shops do not alter dresses purchased from other stores. When I went to pick up the dress it was very disorganized and each person told me something different about my dress. Great selection but the headache of dealing with the staff wasn't worth it for me.
I used this vendor because I had witnessed first hand how great their service was. My sister-in-law, and my cousin. Ida's has great designs and they can find what you want to wear. That good luck did not extend to me.
My trouble started after my dress arrived. Ida's did in-house alterations, when I ordered my dress. However, when I called to arrange my alterations appointment I was informed that service was no longer offered. I understand the stress of doing this grew too much, but a heads-up phone call would have been nice.
The second problem I had was when I went to pick up my veil, I ordered through them. They had lost it. They ended up having to reorder it because they couldn't find it. Again not really a huge deal but I felt like they didn't value my business.
These may have been isolated problems that only occurred to me, because like I said my sister-in-law and my cousin had great experiences. My experience left something to be desired.
I had a great experience with Ida's Bridal. When I arrived for my appointment I was greeted with a rose. I spoke with my consultant and described my vision for my wedding, and different elements that I liked and wanted to try. She really listened to what I did/didn't like about each dress so the appointment flowed smoothly. I fell in love with a dress that was over my original budget, but it was only slightly over the budget with the discount for buying it on the same day. I didn't feel pressured to decide on a dress that day or to pick the expensive dress. The consultant gave me and my family a moment to discuss the cost and the different options, and we decided to purchase the dress. They also threw in one of the veils that Ida makes. The veil wasn't ready when I went to pick up my dress, but they told me to call a week or so before I wanted it and they would have it ready. I spoke to them about the veil at my first fitting, and they told me they would have it by my next fitting. I had my alterations done by Pam, and she did an amazing job. The dress fits perfectly. The veil was ready for me at my fitting. My dress did take a little longer to come in than they had anticipated, but I had ordered it well in advance so it wasn't an issue. Altogether, I was really happy with my experience at Ida's compared to the other stores where I tried on dresses.
I went to Ida's Bridal because I knew they carried Maggie Sottero dresses. I ordered my dress in July and was told it would be in in November. I finally called the beginning of January and was told that Maggie Sottero was running behind and my dress would be in soon (which could have been the truth). However, this became part of a pattern with them.
In February I went in to order a hairpiece and was told it would be in in six weeks at the latest. I went back in April for my first fitting and was told it was not in yet, but that they would check and get back to me. I didn't hear back for two weeks and finally called them a few days before my next fitting. They said it was "backordered" and would be in at my next fitting. I came in for my next fitting and it still wasn't there. When I came in for my third fitting it was finally there, but they ordered the wrong one. I asked for a refund and bought a hairpiece elsewhere.
The day of my final fitting, Pam the lady who did my alterations (who is great) told me that my dress would be steamed and ready to go the Monday before my wedding. She said she was putting it in the book and would make sure the staff at Ida's knew. I called on that Monday because of my previous dealings with Ida's and the girl who answered the phone told me I would have to check with Pam to see if my dress was ready. I asked her if she could just look in the back and tell me if my dress was ready and I was again told to check with Pam. I called Pam and she told me that it was steamed and ready in the back of Ida's. So I was finally able to go pick it up.
I would definitely not use Ida's if you are on any type of a tight schedule. Luckily I ordered my dress 11 months before my wedding. The only part about my experience there that I was completely satisfied with was Pam.
Initially the service was very good but when my consultant found out I wasn't going to purchase the dress that day (I needed time to think about two options) the consultant disappeared and I had to track her down for 10 minutes to see if the appointment was over or not. Then she refused to give me the information about the two dresses I was considering and said it was for the bridal shop only.
I would not recommend Ida's. When I went to try on dresses one weekday evening, the woman helping me kept disappearing while I was changing, so I had to track her down.
They told me that night the price of the dress was X amount. I went home to think about it. When I came back in, the price had gone up and they failed to explain that the original quoted price was with a discount for buying the same day you first come in.
They send misleading coupons that they don't honor due to their unclear fine print. They won't answer emails when you try to get clarification.
They tell you your dress should be in on x day and then fail to update you that it will be in a month later.
I've heard horror stories about their work with alterations, so I'll be going elsewhere for.
Save yourself the hassle and go somewhere that treats customers well through the entire process.
I wouldn't trade my experience I received at Ida's for the fanciest bridal shop in all of Kansas City. I had been to most of the bridal shops in the area for past friends and family when they were brides but had never been to Ida's, my mom wanted to hit every shop in the city but my heart had other plans. From the moment I walked into the store Ida herself and the team greeted my guests and I and listened to my every wish and want in a wedding dress. I took about 5 dresses back to try on and Vangie, my consultant also brought a few in, they were patient as I tried on each dress and let my audience choose their favorites, but it was a princess ballgown dress that Vangie had brought into the room that I hadn't seen on the floor that I wanted to try on and immediately began crying as she zipped me up. I had never thought that crying in the perfect dress thing was real until it happened right there at Ida's! Sure enough, my mom said that was that one. To be honest, it wasn't what 26 year old me had pictured but it was the dress that 8 year old me had dreamed of since I was a little girl and she won! The designer, Maggie Sottero, didn't offer a discount if the dress was bought the first day trying on in the store, but Ida offered me 15% of the dress price as store credit to spend on a veil or anything else I wanted. I ended up getting my veil, mother's dress, bridesmaid dresses and tuxes all at Ida's with the help of Kirstin, Ida and her daughter Julie which was about a 6 month process and those women treated me like the most special bride every time I walked into the store for each fitting or with a bridesmaid to have her measured. When I went for my final dress fitting, my dress was a little too tight, and I was adamant on not having any back skin puffing over the back of my dress even though it zipped all the way, Ida hand beaded every single bead for the half inch my dress was let out to the waist (the top of the dress was intricately hand beaded to begin with), just for me on a quick time schedule and didn't charge me any more than my original alterations. She showed my the pokes and scabs on her fingers and that she did that just for me, and on my wedding day I knew just how much love and work was put into that dress! The staff at Ida's goes above and beyond to make their brides happy and I couldn't be happier with my choice to have the as my bridal and wedding party outfitter!
(And just a shoutout to Julie, who is Ida's daughter and in charge of the tuxes, she is absolutely one of the nicest most genuine people that exist on this earth)
I know the dress is important on your wedding day, but what is most important is the feeling you have on that day with the love of your life, and seeing everything you planned come together with the vendors who made it unforgettable!
I found my perfect dress at Ida's, the first place I shopped for dresses. The store is very large so it accommodated my friends and family to come help decide. I was also able to do my altering at Ida's so I didn't have to pick my dress up until the day before the wedding.
However, when my bridesmaid picked up my dress, they gave her the wrong one and we had to drive back to the store a few hours later to switch out the dresses. It was a bit of an annoyance because we were trying to decorate for the reception but it worked out fine in the end.
Went over and beyond to help me find my perfect dress! They have a huge selection and the best variety. Make sure you check this place out!
I had an idea of what I wanted to try, told the woman helping, and she basically said that I needed to work with her.
None of the gowns fit me; she said Ida only buys smaller sizes. The woman wouldn't even try to zip up the dress. She just had me stand there in it with the back wide open and have me go model it.
It was an awful experience in general. I was overwhelmed by how they have you find a gown.
I will not be finding my dress here. The woman was more worried about getting to the Royals game on time and I felt shooed away.
I got my dress from a trunk sale at Ida's Bridal. I absolutely loved my dress, however, if another vendor in the area had access to order my dress I think I would go through them. I had issues of being overcharged at one point, we found later that they had us pay for an item that a group in our bridal party had ordered. We also got our tuxedos and bridesmaid dresses here. Half of the tuxes didn't fix properly and had to be reordered. The bridesmaid dresses were fine as well as the flower girls dress. It also can take them a while to find the dresses so a warning to anyone getting anything here. Allow plenty of time to pick up your garment.
Ida's ordered my dress and it came in the wrong color and style. I don't know if it was the manufacturer or Ida's fault, but luckily we had plenty of time before our wedding and Ida's made it right! The right dress came in and everything else was perfect!
I chose Ida's Bridal & Tuxedo's because I was looking for a specific designer. That designer's website told me Ida's carried their dresses. I called ahead to make sure the dress I was looking at was available. When I went to the store I found they only carried two dresses in the designer so I'm wondering if they weren't ordered because I called ahead. The assistance I received while shopping for my dress was good. The consultant was able to hear what I wanted and helped me weed through all the dresses the family thought I should try on. I was very overwhelmed.
I was very nervous about my dress but I loved it! My only complaint was with the top of my dress wasn't snug across the top. It gaped open which didn't look right. I had a corset put in the back of my dress so I wonder if that didn't have some part to do with that. I did lose about 6 pounds around my final fitting so that could also have something to do with that. Ida handled the alterations and she was great to work with.
When we went shopping for bridesmaids dresses it was a different situation. The dresses will definitely be more than David's Bridal and other places like that. When we showed up for our appointment, myself and the bridal party was taken to a room and told to go look and try on. If we found a dress we liked and were ready to order we were to find someone. We went through all the racks ourselves and the girls tried on dresses. There wasn't a consultant readily available to answer questions as they were all booked with brides. I had two bridesmaids that just had baby's and were still nursing. We asked for this to be taken into consideration when dresses were ordered. One of the bridesmaids dresses was ordered to fit her measurements and she asked to have it down a size and was told "the designers want it ordered by measurements". Because of this, her dress had severe alterations needed. I was disappointed that our requests weren't considered.
Over all, the quality of the dresses are great. I loved my dress and the girls looked amazing in theirs. I was disappointed with the service during the bridesmaids appointment. The service for bridal shopping was pretty good.
When I walked into Ida's I was pretty exhausted from already trying on dresses earlier that day at another shop. I wasn't really "feeling it". The staff there was great and super welcoming. Laine immediately met me and started inquiring about what type of wedding I was planning and what I was envisioning for my special day. While my friends and I started looking through the gowns, Laine began working her magic. She pulled gowns that she thought captured my vision. The first gown I tried on took my breath away!! It was exactly what I had described! To keep an open mind, I went ahead and tried on the other dresses she had pulled as well. All of them fit the idea that I had descried to her. With all her help, I ended up picking the first gown she pulled for me!! I did want to make some alterations to the dress and she was very knowledgeable and gave her expert opinion on what could and could not be done. She was very easy to work with and actually listened to what I wanted! Net she walked me through the ordering process and what steps came next. I left there feeling absolutely amazing about my choice!
Once I got home and started looking at pictures of me in the dress, I began to question the size that was being ordered. I called Ida's and told them my concerns (and apologized if I was acting like a crazy bride). They were VERY understanding and friendly and agreed to hold off on ordering the dress until I could get back up there to get measured again (and put that dress on one more time!)
The staff there have been amazing to work with and I am so happy I get to have that memory!
Ida's was the third or fourth store I had been to after not having much luck. After trying on several dresses, she brought out a THE DRESS and it was the perfect! The only negative thing I would have to say is that I fit perfectly in the sample gown, and the consultant told me she would see if there was any way for a discount to be taken off so I could take it home that day! I was excited. The consultant came back and told me they had "just gotten the dress in" so there wasn't any point in not ordering my own gown, instead of the sample. Maybe I'm naïve about wedding dresses but I thought, "just getting something in," would consider it new, but when I looked at my dress online and it was from a fall 2012 collection. I was just a little confused why they were getting dresses in over a year and a half later. In the end, I received a percentage off because of purchasing my dress on my first visit so all was well and I have my dress! Lastly, make sure you ask them when your payments are due. We paid half when we placed the order, and then we were going to pay the rest when the dress came in. My dress came in a month earlier than they told us and when I was called about it being here, the lady told me they need the balance paid within two days of the dress coming in. Thankfully, it wasn't a problem for us, BUT we were not told the dress had to be paid off within two days of it's arrival when we ordered it. Overall, great experience, just a couple minor things to look out for and ask about.
Ida designed my hair piece & it was gorgeous! The price was just right compared to other shops in the area.
She did a great job!
I absolutely loved my experience at Ida's. My consultant, Vangie, was so wonderful to work with. She was helpful without being pushy, she was knowledgeable and very honest. She helped me get the perfect wedding dress in a matter of an hour. I am so glad I happened to visit when I did! I would recommend this store to anyone.
At each appointment I had from trying on dresses, showing it off to friends and family, alterations and picking it up, they never quite seemed like they knew I was arriving. Or what to do with me.
I didn't feel like the owner wanted to go above and beyond for each of her customers. The night I picked out and bought my dress, I was rushed because I was told the owner didn't like to stay past hours. So I had to come back another day to be measured and sized, so they could order the dress then.
They tried very hard and meant well but are in need of some serious communication amongst employees and organization. No one was ever rude or unpleasant to me, but I felt awkward each time I was there.
Despite the decor of Ida's being somewhat dated, their inventory was far from it. From visiting other shops, I had fallen in love with the Provinos line because of all the intricate lace. They had the most selection of any of the shops I visited. The only thing that I wasn't a fan of was that I had purchased a matching veil (with my dress) and they hadn't written down the style number. So I ended up with a different veil, but very close to the original. I would just double check that on the receipt. They were, however, very helpful and incredibly kind. I would definitely recommend.
I chose Ida's because all of the wonderful reviews on here. From the moment I decided on my dress the customer service just kept going downhill. I loved my dress consultant she was amazing.I paid everything upfront and you'd think when you spend almost 2 grand you would be treated with some respect. I was not told my dress came in different colors, had I known I would have gotten another color. And although I called well before my ship date the shop would not call the designer to change the color and insisted the color I had would look best with my skin tone, which obviously I didn't agree with since I wanted that different color. Either way I also ordered my veil at the same time I bought my dress which was 11 months before my wedding. Ida was supposed to make my veil, which I would think it would not take over 10 months to make. I wish she would have made it right away but she waited until the last minute. When my dress was a week past the ship date I called to find out where it was. They told me it was missing and give it another week and then they'd track it in the mail.. Then they called me and told me Ida had talked to me and it was in alterations.. Ida had not talked to me and my dress didn't need any alterations. I live an hour away from the shop so when I came to get my dress and my veil was not done it was a huge inconvenience for me. They made me set up an appointment a week later to get my veil. So yet again I drove an hour out of my way to get my veil, when I got there it was not done! I let Ida know I was not happy and this was very inconvenient she knew I did not live in town. So she told me she'd finish it and send it out that week. Two weeks later I call wanting to know where my dress is. The receptionist put me on hold for awhile and told me Ida would send it that day. A week later I called and asked for tracking info. The receptionist then tells me they waited until the day before I called to send it. I am disgusted by the service I received because I was a nice person and did not freak out like a Bridezilla. I should have been treated with respect, I paid well in advance and was more than patient. I will never recommend Ida's after this experience. I work in customer service you don't treat your customers like this. The consultant and other employees were wonderful all my problems started with Ida. You could even tell by her employees reactions with her that they did not approve how she was handling my situations. I hope this review helps deter someone from dealing with this headache.
In the end, everything turned out fine for my wedding day but my experience at Ida's added a lot of unnecessary stress. They do have a great selection and I loved my Victoria dress! Plus it was a great deal, my budget was around the $1,200 but you would have never know by the dress. I also found Ida's to have a very nice staff. Where Ida's falls short is organization and alterations. First my dress was ordered in the wrong color (white instead of ivory) so the store had to accept a rush shipment from the designer that was the right color, but a much bigger size. I WILL SAY, that they stopped doing alterations in-house, so the new alterations shop they use may eliminate the issue completely... but altering it down was the problem. Ida is extremely talented, however my dress just never fit quite right during my several fittings. While I was thankful for the dedication and attention to make it right, it was very inconvenient to go back to Ida's four times the week of my wedding for fittings, picking up my dress the day before. The dress ended up great for the day, but I hesitate to recommend them because I was not a bride that got ruffled by a lot of things, but my experience the week before made it hard to stay relaxed. We also got the bridesmaids gowns at Ida's which were ordered correctly and worked great (got a discount too since I bought my gown there). However, my sister-in-law had issues with their organization when ordering the flower girl dress (which they also offered a bundle discount). My vail, which was beautiful, was made by Ida. Overall, Ida's is great, the people and selection are nice, Ida is a wonderful lady, but I found the operation a little unorganized, which can turn into a huge problem quickly when weddings are involved...
My experience was good, but not the best. It was the first time going dress shopping and my appointment was with an 18 y/o girl. While she was very helpful and professional, I do feel like she was a bit inexperienced. I had to ask to be taken out to a big mirror in the show room.
I did buy my dress off the rack and got it 50% off, because it was a few seasons old. To me that was worth it, because it was only around $520 for a Pro Novias gown.
Where do I begin with Ida's Bridal... Ok, first, everyone was pretty nice there. However, there was little that they got right. There was a lot of selection at the store for brides, bridesmaids and mother of the brides. That was probably about the best thing. I got my bridal gown here, my mother got her dress here and my husband and the rest of the men in the party got tuxes here. I ordered my dress 8 MONTHS in advance from Ida's... it started off by arriving two weeks later than they told me originally. Then, my first dress fitting went just fine. I went back for my second "fitting" and almost nothing had been done(this was a month before the wedding). Ida pinned everything to be altered again during this fitting and I was scheduled for another fitting two weeks later. This fitting was cancelled by the store because the dress was not ready. I went the Monday before my wedding and the dress was still too big and Ida did not even take in the bust area which was the part that needed the most adjustment. I had to go back yet again for my final fitting two days before the wedding and the dress was WAY too tight around the waist. Ida would not let it out for me, although it was very uncomfortable. Luckily, the day of, I didn't have to use the top hook and eye and it was ok. However, the bust was still not taken in! Ida added cups inside the dress but they did absolutely nothing. I was almost exposed several times throughout the night even with use of double sided tape. On the wedding day, it was discovered an hour and a half before the ceremony that my veils were not in the bag with the dress as Ida had said they were. A bridesmaid called the store and they did not even want to put her on hold to check. They said they would call her back in a bit! Once the veil was found there, they did not even offer to bring it to the church, the maid's mom had to go get it!
Ida also made my mother's dress extremely tight as well and she could not even breathe in it. Ida also refused to let it out. My mom was shafted on her appointments a couple of times, as well. Her dress had not been altered at all during one of her fittings, too.
On to the tuxes-- it was very difficult to communicate with the tux specialist on the phone. We had to constantly repeat what we wanted on every call. When the tuxes got into the store, they were not even right. The vests were not the right pattern on some of them and all but one tux had to be totally re-ordered (the day before the wedding). I don't know how all of the measurements were SO off on everyone's pieces. Another problem was that the tuxes had to be returned by Monday morning at 10am after a Saturday wedding and the store is closed on Sundays...really? Last, one of the groomsmen paid for his tux at the store and his card was run 8 times which he later discovered that night that it was charged over $900 freezing his card's account.
This whole experience was a mess and I am astonished that Ida's is still in business. We spent a great deal of money here and really regret it.
I chose a gorgeous (in my opinion!) San Patrick gown (from the Pronovias line), that had been discontinued for 2013 and was therefore 30% off! So that was a great deal. I did have them to quite a bit of alterations, all of which were done very well. However, I did have to wait quite awhile for some appointments as they would run behind schedule. And they also had to reschedule my final fitting which was frustrating because I had scheduled it on my day off of work and had to take extra time off due to their scheduling conflicts. Other than that, I loved my dress and wouldn't have changed the way it looked at all.
I was able to find my perfect wedding dress at Ida's the first time I went to try on dresses. My experience went slightly downhill after that. I took my bridesmaids to find their dresses and each found one they liked. We weren't given any direction on when the dresses needed to be ordered which resulted in us having to get our dresses elsewhere 3 months before the wedding.
Everyone was very helpful when looking for dress. Only tried on three and knew had the one. Got a Maggie Sottero gown at good price and came with free alterations! Ida is amazing at what she does. I did have one issue with picking up my dress but would still recommend them. My dress wasn't ready when was suppose to be Friday before my Saturday wedding. The dress wasn't steamed and when finally got done steaming wasn't done great do to rush and missed a hole that was suppose to be fixed. Was easy just pick up Saturday morning on way to church fix but know a lot of others wouldn't stay calm in that situation.
I went to Ida's and found the most beautiful dress Ida got herself from the runway in Barcelona, Spain! I have received nothing but compliments on how beautiful my gown was, and many have said it was one of their top 5 favorites of all time(including the alteration shop where they do bridal gowns on a regular basis!).
The service was excellent!!
I found my dress after only trying on 8, my consultant knew what I wanted better than I did, and it was on sale! Very professional and kind staff. They gave me the experience a girl always dreams about.
Everything is really secondary to the fact that this is where I found my dream dress. You are going to spend a bit more here, but it's worth it. I really like the set up in the store, the little "viewing" areas make the bride feel like she's the center of attention. The only negative thing I have to comment on is the scheduling of fittings/alterations. We had 2 of 3 rescheduled and one of them was rescheduled on the day of. That made for disappointing experiences when you schedule them for when bridesmaids are in town to watch. Other than that, great shop!
I came from SW KS (7 hrs away) to Ida's & one other place b/c they carried the dresses from the designer I liked. I was quite nervous b/c there was mixed reviews and I had not been dress shopping at all. I HAD TO leave KC with a dress purchased as my wedding was only 4 months away. I was helped by Bonnie, she was amazing- extremely helpful, patient, and friendly. When my family asked if they could walk around to choose some dresses for me she was totally fine with it & excited that they wanted to be involved. We got our own area with huge mirrors which made it more personal/private. To say the least, I tried some beautiful dresses there, but I went to my next appt anyway just to be sure. I ended up going back to Ida's for my dream dress! The service was not comparable at all! The only reason I give Ida's 4 stars is b/c when I arrived they didn't have me scheduled (I had made the appt at least 1-2 months ahead), but their great service made me quickly forget, and second b/c my slip had not arrived when I went to pick up my dress, but as soon as they got it in they overnighted it to me and I got it a week before my wedding. They followed up with me on the status of my slip & even called back to give me a tracking #. I'm very please with their customer service and I would recommend giving Ida's a visit if you're dress searching!
I had been to a few other places but a friend told me to go to Ida's. I knew the second I walked in there it was different than the other places. They were so friendly and were able to pick out the perfect dress for me! Absolutely loved the entire experience.
I ordered my bridesmaid dresses, tuxes, and wedding gown all from Ida's. I had a great bridal experience and no problems with the bridesmaid dresses. However, we had some issues with my dress alterations due to scheduling issues. We also had many problems with the tuxes and had to do some last minute reorders. In the end everything was perfect, but it was a stressful process.
My initial experience here purchasing my wedding dress was amazing! The sales lady brought me a dress that she thought would look good on me and that was the dress! So easy! As far as fittings and tux appointments, customer service could have been better. I wish they would have treated us as well as they did the first day. But overall was happy with my dress. Also was told I was getting a free hair piece that matched my dress, but when i went to pick up my dress, no such thing existed. I would recommend them to others brides though.
I went to Ida’s, because two of my friends had previously bought their bridal gown at Ida’s. The store is extremely well stocked, and it has a very calm and inviting atmosphere. My bridal consultant was Gail, and she is AMAZING!!! Gail is very friendly, she knows bridal, and she does well with staying on budget. Everything that Gail put on me looked good and made me feel beautiful. I left Ida’s with a favorite dress in mind, but I wanted to look around since I have 11 months until my wedding. I went to two other bridal stores which get great reviews online, but they did not compare to the great experience I had at Ida’s. My mom and I then went back to Ida’s to try on my favorite dress which I bought today. Go to Ida’s and ask for Gail!
I loved my dress, veil and headpiece but I had to drive down multiple times for each piece.
I really enjoyed the staff and atmosphere at Ida's. My dress even came with free basic alterations which sealed the deal for me. I'd found the same dress elsewhere but would have had to pay for the alterations, so that was a nice bonus that Ida's offered.
My only complaint is that the service for the custom veils was poor. I went in to pick up my dress and veil a week before the wedding only to be told that they'd steamed a hole in my veil, but it was easily fixed. I said I'd come back the next Friday to pick up, the day of the rehearsal. I arrived only to find small holes in "my" veil. They said they would fix it immediately. During my wait, I took my gown to my car and when I came back in was told they'd give me the wrong veil and it was the floor sample. I was relieved as they handed me my real veil. I asked the staff if Ida mentioned fixing the holes she'd previously told me about a week earlier. No mention. I asked to open the veil and spread it out. I'm so glad I did, because there was a cantalope sized hole in the middle and a smaller one next to it. She had forgotten to fix my veil.
I will give Ida and her staff credit though because they told me they could make a new one in 45 minutes for me and apologized profusely. When they called me to tell me it was done, they offered to bring it to wherever I was due to the problem and inconvenience. I had been warned by friends about the veils here.
Ida is great and so are her staff, however the stress of the veil issue wasn't worth it. I would recommend trying your dress on here and getting it there.
Ida's has a great selection of gorgeous gowns!
I feel in my dress right away and the staff was very helpfully in me being able to afford my dress.
Ida's has a great selection of dresses and their sales staff is very helpful and friendly. We decided to shop there because they carried Paloma gowns, which was what we ended up buying at the first visit. Our sales associate was Gail, and she was very helpful and patient (even though I'm sure it wasn't easy at that appointment).
At both of my fittings, Pam (alterations) was wonderful. I wanted to write a very nice review, especially because I liked Gail and Pam.
Unfortunately, after the initial experience, service was less than impressive. I get the idea that the behind-the-scenes are very disorganized. It took several trips to get my veil (which I had to bring a receipt for, because no one had documented its purchase).
We made an appointment to pick up a pressed dress, but when we arrived it wasn't ready. Ida and the sales associate insisted it wasn't wrinkled - it was "just the fabric." Eventually, someone admitted the dress was mid-pressing when we arrived.
After it had been pressed, my mother noticed that the hem was actually quite crooked - but probably an honest mistake. Initially, we just wanted someone to press it more forcefully to see if that took out the bubbles and wrinkling, but four separate people insisted that it was "just the fabric" and not actually a problem.
My mother tried to reason that since we had paid $150 for the hem job, it should be a higher quality. Ida's response was that other people charged $450 for a hem. I understand she was trying to convey value, but it just cemented the impression that they were trying to bully my mother into deciding the hem was straight.
Rather than offer a solution (because nothing is wrong!) or ask how we would like to handle it, they had us sit in the waiting area while they called in Pam from alterations. While we waited, Ida and the sales associate complained to one another, "The bride's mother is crazy." Fortunately, my mother was in the restroom and didn't hear them, but it definitely colored my experience.
When Pam arrived, she agreed it might be a faulty hem and agree to redo the hem and transport the dress. A fifteen minute appointment turned into a three hour ordeal and a forty-eight hour wait. The dress will arrive (allegedly - at this point, the track record is questionable) the day before the wedding.
The initial experience was great, but I would recommend using the store as a place to try lots of styles and makers before ultimately making a purchase elsewhere. (I'm sorry, Pam!)
I am so happy with my experience with Ida's Bridal. I had already purchased a dress that I really wasn't crazy about and had cancelled my appointment with Ida's. But I showed up anyway having seen a dress online that Ida stocked. They let me right in without my original appointment and after I fell in love with the dress they let me wait in the dressing room for an hour while I waited for my Mom to arrive to see it. My fittings were all easy and efficient. Ida even made adjustments to my dress that made it truly my own. I love my dress! I want to wear it now, even after the wedding. Thank you!
Ordered daughter's dress and veil in March 2012 and in March 2013 they scrambled to find the original veil. In the end Ida had to have one made but couldn't come up with the veil we ordered. Also they expect the mother or bride to put down all deposits on bridesmaid's dresses. They will not take care of that themselves so we ended up shopping elsewhere for the bridesmaids.
When I went to Ida's for the first time to look at dresses, I had been to 2 places. I was amazed at how many dresses they had! The dresses go all around their store and it was a great experience. An older lady helped me and she did a great job at picking dresses. I picked one I didn't think I'd like and she told me to go ahead and try it on because you never know. After I bought the dress, that's when things declined. I went in for my first fitting and had to wait at least 30 minutes. My second fitting we waited for a couple of hours due to the lack of employees. They never had enough staff and it was always hard to get someone to talk to. I even talked to Ida and still service was poor. I loved my dress and it was beautiful, but the experience at the store was like pulling teeth.
I loved the whole process of getting my dress from Ida's! They helped me find the perfect dress within my price range. Ida still does the alterations herself, and everything fit perfectly. She also made my veil, and of course it was perfect!
I bought my dress from Ida's. Big mistake. The staff apparently has no knowledge of the origin, make or fabric of their products. I ordered an expensive wedding gown from Ida after I was told the dress was probably silk (the sales girl couldn't be bothered to find out for sure) and that it was made in Spain. When my dress arrived, the interior tag stated the dress was made in china and was 100% polyester. I have had no luck with the store. They lied several times regarding where the dress was made, and now Ida denies that anyone misinformed me. When I went back into the store to speak with Ida, another sales girl told me the dress was made in Barcelona and was made of silk. Ida had been incredibly rude throughout this process, even refusing to provide me with a confirmation number or invoice from the dress maker. I absolutely recommend that you search elsewhere for your dress. Ida's is not a place I would ever, ever patronize again.
Ida's Bridal feels like a small town shop in a big city! The staff was amazing and great to work with and they had a plethora of gowns in every style. I tried on my first dress at Ida's and then went to a couple other places in KC and ended right back up at Ida's where I bought the first dress I tried on. Not only did they have the dress I fell in love with, but also a calming atmosphere and experienced staff to go with it. I would recommend Ida's to anyone!
Overall I was extremely pleased with my gown and my experience at Ida's. I will say there were a couple things that slipped through the cracks on their end. When I ordered my dress, they forgot to measure my hollow to hem and when the dress came in, it was 2.5 inches too short when I was barefoot. Ida did an exceptional job getting a rush order on a new dress that was long enough. Later I ordered a strapless bra/corset from them and the order seemed to have gotten lost. In the end, I had everything I needed and I was extremely happy. Ida does great alterations too.
My dress turned out amazing never any problems! However ALL of my bridesmaids had troubles with the dresses they ordered.....
I went to several bridal shops before trying dresses on to get a feel for each shop's collection and the service I received. I chose to try on dresses at Ida's because they were extremely friendly and had a large selection of dresses. Many of the other shops I went to were snooty and persisted that I needed an appointment even though I wasn't even trying on dresses.
When I finally went to try on dresses with my mother, I had a pretty good idea of the dress I wanted, but the associate who was helping us ended up finding a dress I liked even better! I am so thankful for such a wonderful experience and can't wait to get my dress. Thank you Ida's!!
I am the third to get married out of my sisters. We all purchased our gowns from Ida's. they have a great selection of unique gowns and traditional gowns from around the world. Unfortunately we had problems with them. Make sure that if you use them that you up your gown and try it on after they press it. They pressed the dress incorrectly. I also bought a headpiece from them which was a huge mistake. If you choose to buy a headpiece make sure you take the one they already have made. The owner ,Ida, told me they would have it ready. When I called before going to pick it up he said that she had no idea what I was talking about. Then she tried to tell us which one we bought which was not correct. We sent her a picture of the one we had when I originally night it and she said ok it would be ready in a week. I went to pick it up and she had made something completely different and then proceeded to tell me that she normally sold it for $400 but I could go ahead and have it because I made an extra trip...how rude! I didn't like the one she made and told her as much and she told me that she didn't know which one we had sent her a picture of and it wasn't one that she made. When I told her that they told me when I bought it that she made it she contined to argue with me and tell me I was wrong. I walked over to the display table and picked up the exact head piece I tried on and showed it to her. She continued to insist that I was wrong. I would not recommend getting our headpiece from them. They did the same thing to my sister. She didn't pick her headpiece up until she picked up her dress and ended up with something totlly different from what she chose. Be careful!
Gail helped narrow down the perfect gown for me- on only the 4th dress I ever tried on. A miracle! The owner Ida did a fantastic job altering my dress to make me look spectacular on my day and helped get that wedding veil to me in time for my big day. I would recommend Ida's to anyone.
I went into Ida's and was amazed! You have the ability to walk around the store and pull dresses that you would like to try on. They have tons of beautiful dresses. The staff was wonderful and Ida is such a sweet person. I found my dream dress at Ida's. I am so happy that we went!! I look forward to the day I get to come back in to do alterations.
From the moment I walked in the door, I knew I was in good hands. Holly helped me pick my perfect dress without my having to try on half the shop. She gave great advice and was encouraging and genuine. The alterations were expertly done by Pam, and everyone involved was helpful, courteous, and professional. I loved my dress. It was such a pleasant experience.
I give Ida's a 5 for overall rating because the service was outstanding. Ida's Bridal had a wide variety of wedding gowns. Their staff were hospitable, I even had an opportunity to meet Ida. Bonnie, my representative, was most accommodating. Additionally, when I returned, another representative assisted me quite graciously on Bonnie's behalf. I came so close to purchasing a dress at Ida's, as I thought I found the perfect one. However, I had a change of heart after realizing the dress I wanted was more for an outdoor wedding (my wedding is indoors and I went for something more formal). I do plan to stay in touch. Ida's sells Pronovias (a designer I love). Although I live out east, Kansas City is my original home and I do hope return to Ida's to look for dresses for future events. Thank you so much, Bonnie. You made my experience at Ida's quite memorable and special while planning for my important day. May all continue to go well with business, I recommend any bride to include Ida's in their wedding gown search.
Ida is so sweet and incredibly helpful/knowledgable. She even made me a custom veil with less than a month to go! There is a huge selection & everyone is super nice and helpful. This was the 2nd of 6 stores where I tried on dresses. I even found the dress I ended up buying at store #5 because of Ida's personalized attention.
It was a last minute idea to go out with my Mother and Sister for my wedding dress. I had set up appointments at three places and Ida's was my second stop. The first stop was not a success since the sales lady told me she thought the dress I loved looked bad on me. At Ida'a I was introduced to Anita my sales lady and told her my price and wedding location. Based on that she brought in many gowns in various styles. Once I tried on each gown she showed me how to wear it then she left the room to leave my family and I alone to look at the dress ourselves. The overall experience at Ida's was fantastic. I would recommend any bride to schedule an appointment with them when looking for the perfect gown.
I would recommend Ida's for any bride! They have a wide variety of dresses and will take the time to help you find the perfect dress. My only suggestion would be to start early when dress shopping. Receiving the dress and having alterations could take time. I purchased my dress 8 months in advance and was glad I did. Ida also makes the most beautiful veils!
I bought my dress at ida's but am not living in the KC area. I had been visiting a friend and went to look at dresses while my friend was at work. The staff at ida's was helpful and let me try on dresses even without an appointment (it was a Tuesday during the day). I tried on a lot and they were very patient and helped me find THE DRESS. The great service didn't stop there. I had a total of three days in which I could do a fitting near the wedding (about one month out) since I had to fly to KC to do the fitting. They got the dress altered in two days and it fit like a glove. They carry great designers and have patient and hard working staff. Thanks for helping me find the dress.

Such a great experience here. I had been there with a friend that tried on dresses here and I went here first when dress shopping. My mom got her dress here and also I got the tux's through them too. The one mishap was getting my fittings in order I would double an triple check your fitting and final fitting with them. They had our schedules all messed up and it was not even really compensated for. I think they were going through a staff change, but we didn't really get an apology at the time which I thought was weird. Overall it was a fantastic experience!
While it appears as though many people have had good experiences with Ida's Bridal, mine was less than ideal, however I will start with the positive.
Shopping for my dress was great, Bonnie did an amazing job and I felt very special. While I know every bride is treated this way while shopping, it was nice.
The negatives: First off, I was told my dress would you arrive the week of August 7th. I gave them a call on that day and I was told that it takes 2-10 days to ship and they would give me a call when it arrived. I was in the shop on day 9 looking for a mother of the bride dress and asked about the dress, again I was told it takes 2-10 days and it should be there on Monday or Tuesday. I gave them a call on Monday or Tuesday, they were unsure where the dress was. They said they would give them a call and have it over nighted. I lived out of town and my dress was only a little over a month away, so I was concerned. I called the next day, they told me the dress would be there on Saturday for a fitting. I arrived (from out of town) on a Saturday with my mother, my in laws (who live in another state) for my first fitting. We sat for 30 minutes, no one spoke to us, my MOH went and spoke with the front desk girl...the dress had not yet arrived. As a consolation they did give me a free hem alteration, so I was not frustrated at that point. The following week they gave me a confirmation number when the dress arrived.
I went in the following week and my dress had arrived. It was huge, which was not their fault, I had lost weight. I was told it would take two fittings to get it correct. I did 5 fittings! It was too big every time, the final fitting (3 days before my wedding) the dress was TOO tight. I had HUGE back rolls and Ida's response was "just wear a veil, it will cover it." She also told me that I should have surgery to get rid of the excess skin on my back.
Luckily for me my aunt is a seamstress. I didn't want to deal with the shop anymore so that Thursday night we spent 6 hours at my aunts house and she re-sewed the dress. She had to take out every seam, which was crooked. In the end the dress fit.
However, a word of warning. If you don't have a family member who can fix the alternations that Ida does, DON'T buy from them. 2000 dollars is a lot to spend on a dress and have it not fit you and be altered improperly.
Anita was absolutely fantastic! She listened to my budget, and didn't bring me anything that was over that. She pulled the dress I eventually decided on based on what I thought I'd wanted. I had absolutely no problems with my fitting/alterations. Everything about my dress was perfect!
I am so glad that I went to Ida's. From the moment that my appointment started, the staff at Ida's made me feel like I was the only person in the store. Their customer service absolutely sets them apart from any other bridal boutique. My consultant understood exactly what I wanted, but still brought me back different options to ensure that I was on the right track. She did a great job of staying within my budget and even let me look through the racks. Ida is also a fantastic seamstress. I had the neckline of my dress made into a sweetheart and it turned out great. Lastly, I got my custom veil from Ida's (made by Ida) and it was absolutely beautiful. If you want the true bride experience, go to Ida's!
I am getting married Dec 8th, 2012 and I finally found my perfect dress within my budget and I couldnt be happier! I had shopped several dress stores in the kansas city area before going to Ida's bridal shop on Metcalf. Holly my dress assiciate helped me find the one! :) I told her what I was looking for and what I was thinking and she pulled about 7 gowns and they were all amazing, it was like she had read my mind. The gowns were all gorgous and she kept the price under my budget as I had asked. And at Ida's they do free alterations on certain designers so when I picked my dress I was estatic to learn it was free alterations! Holly also talked to her superviser and I also recieved a free $150 head piece because my fiancee is active duty Military. I was beyond thrilled! Holly was so friendly and helpful and I cant thank her enough. I purchased my dress the same day and recieved a thank you card in the mail from Holly the next week. I cant wait till my dress arrives! I am sooooo excited! Thank you Ida & Holly!!!
I was very happy with my experience at Ida's. The shop has lots of dresses and the service was excellent. Ida's is also known for making unique custom vails which are beautiful. The alteration prices were fair and are done in a timely manner.
I'm so excited to have found my wedding dress at Ida's this past weekend. Everyone was extremely helpful in making it a great experience. Especially my consultant, Bonnie! I will definitely recommend the store to future brides. Thank you!!
I had gone to a bridal shop minutes before my appointment at Ida's. The other shop was terrible. The lady has smoker's breath, wouldn't tell me prices, and was extremely rude.
That morning I had made my appt at Ida's and I'm so glad I did. Once we walked in I felt overwhelmed by the amount of dresses and the feel. It literally felt like the TV shows. I was greated by Gale who was outstanding! Though I loved dresses that were over my budget, she pointed me in the right direction to ones that were similar, but in my range. At the very end I found the dress. Gale dressed me up with the veil and it was perfect. She made me feel like a princess and I was all that mattered. I'm not usually the girly girl but she made the experience for me. Honestly, I hadn't even planned on buying my dress that day but Ida's made it work. They gave me a good deal on alterations and even good ideas on bridesmaids.
Ida's was perfect. They made the experience perfect.
Oh, and my dress is perfect!
Holly at Ida's was very helpful in helping me find my dream dress. She offered great advice and helped my to make some changes to the gown so that it suited me best. Pam at Ida's did my alterations and did a wonderful job!
Every single employee that I interacted with at Ida's was truly awesome. Not to mention they were just as polite, friendly and helpful when my bridesmaids went to order their dresses. Ida herself is very hands-on. I tried the same dress on at another shop and didn't purchase because of the service. Ida's won my heart and everyone I've talked to love them. HUGE selection, great prices and perfect alterations! Couldn't ask for more in a dress!
My initial experience at Ida's was perfect. Anita helped me find my dream dress. The personalized service was excellent. I felt very taken care of and listened to. Ida altered my dress so it fit like a second skin. I received so many compliments on it at the wedding, and I felt extremely comfortable and beautiful in it.
I also got my bridesmaids dresses through Ida's. The service was not as helpful since they tend to leave you to yourself when shopping for anything besides bridal gowns, however the dresses arrived on time and were exactly what I wanted - beautiful and excellent quality.
First off, let me say that I love my dress. Everything else was very upsetting. My dress was lost for a month and they lied to me and tried to cover it up, then they lied and said that they had already ordered the sash that I had wanted with the dress and that it was in the store, then later had to fess up to not ordering it because it was discontinued. I had to get my dress altered twice because I kept losing weight and the second time she had said that she would take it in on the sides and add padding to the top, which was not done. They had also moved locations from the time that I picked my dress out and my first fitting and never contacted us, so we had to drive around and find their new location. BUT if you do decide to get your dress there, go to Bonnie, she was personable and helpful and did a really great job.
Ida's was the perfect shop for me. I bought a one-of-a-kind dress that needed a lot of alterations and Ida worked with me to get it just the way I'd imagined. Incredibly friendly and professional was the tone each time I visited for fittings. They followed through with every promise they'd made and I felt like a queen on my wedding day thanks to all of their hard work.
I got one beautiful dress! I just felt like a princess! The place really has incredible atmosphere, really a beautiful botique feel. It is all you would want in a shop! i had 2 fittings and they pressed it for me to pick up. They were not too flible with hours (couldnt do a fitting on a weekend) but all in all i was very pleased with the dress! It was of very good quality!
Every one was very nice and made the dress process a dream.
they catered to my every need and found the dress of my dreams!!
Lots to choose from and a wide variety of price points. I might not have them do the alteration, as I felt that could have been better, but overall the dress was perfect.
