We were able to have the best COVID wedding at the Seaport Museum! We booked the ISM for our ceremony and reception before the pandemic hit. Since we had booked so far in advance, ...
we had no idea what to do about the wedding, and the venue was willing to be flexible, no matter what we decided to do. We got lucky, because the ISM has TONS of unassuming outdoor space, so we were able to persist and keep our original date, original venue, just a smaller group and adjustments to have our event 100% outdoors. We used the rotunda for ceremony, side terrace for cocktail hour, and 4th floor terrace for the reception. We had to tent the terraces in case of rain, but were still able to comfortably seat ~65 guests while social distancing. The outdoor reception worked out, because you have a gorgeous view of the city!
My main contact was Lawrence (LT), and he successfully coordinated with all of our vendors (catering, tent, production, floral, DJ, videographer/streaming, etc.) to ensure that everything was setup accordingly. We did have a slight mishap the night before, when we were supposed to be able to drop off wedding items. This led to some running around that night, and enlisting help the next day to drop off the items at the museum again, but it all worked out in the end. Small detail in the scheme of things. Lawrence acknowledged the mistake and made up for it the next day by making sure everything ran smoothly. He was overall very responsive, easy to communicate with, and super willing to help.
We absolutely LOVED having our event at the ISM, and would highly recommend to anyone who is looking for a nautical themed wedding, or just a venue that has sufficient indoor/outdoor event spaces. The only thing I wish I had done is get an event planner or day of coordinator. I planned and coordinated everything myself, but on the day of the wedding, it would have been super helpful to have a designated coordinator, to make sure everything ran smoothly.
