The owners and managers are AMAZING! They made all of my stress go away. They had so many decorations you could use for free. Everyone there is so laid back and make you feel so co...
mfortable so fast.
Beautiful place with a pond and a outside recreational hall. This camps main purpose is to not hold wedding but nevertheless it sure is a great place to have one. Plenty of parking...
and seating. The camp staff will do just about anything and everything for you. Ann (camp manager) will do her best to ensure you have the best and most stress free day of your life. Truly a beautiful place.
We thought Indian Hills would be managed like Canter's Cave 4-H camp, where our kids went to camp. WE WERE WRONG!! No Comparison. The people at Canter's Cave 4-H camp are wonde...
rful, kind people that we trust. The manager at Indian Hills seemed kind and helpful when we first talked to her with the Bride's family. She offered to park the cars and direct guest, she didn't do any of this. The camp manager was yelling at everyone the day of the wedding. She even yelled at guest sitting and waiting for the ceremony in front of the Pastor. The manager also got tired of guest ( people the Bride and Groom invited) coming into the Lodge and leaving their gift on the gift table and using the restroom. So the manager yelled at them (the guest) and locked the door to the Lodge. That was not right. This was very upsetting and not what we wanted for our Son's wedding. The day should of been Happy and ALL Smiles. Not hearing the camp manager yelling at invited guest , and feeling the need to apologize for the manager's rudeness. No One Needs That!
All these bad reviews you are seeing is from someone who wanted to cheat kids out of money because this is a non profit organization owned by kids. So they are trying to hurt this ...
organization by giving us and having their friends gives us bad reviews.
I wish I could rate this place lower! The manager and her staff turned what should have been the best day of my brother and sister in law's life into one of the worst. She told the...
family her and her staff would be there to help whenever needed and they were nowhere to be found. On the day of the wedding she was literally screaming at everyone including the bridal party and guests. There ended up being a terrible storm and the manager had no back up plan. All in all the promise of a blissful wedding with no worries at all turned into a terrible disappointment. If you choose to do business with them make sure everything is in writing and signed!
To be honest, this place is a "too good to be true" tale. The manager of this camp promises you beauty and smooth sailing but what I received on my wedding day was from from it. Wh...
en my wedding day came, I was already stressed and the manager made everything worse. Everything that was promised and discussed, IN WRITING, were not promised AT ALL. There was NOBODY there to direct my guests to the ceremony area. My guests were being screamed at from the kitchen on where to not park because there was nobody out there like was promised. There was no golf cart transportation for elderly guests and family which was promised. On top of that, there was no valid plan for rain. When I arrived at the end if the aisle, it cut loose and we were in a monsoon. When my guests tried to get into the venue, the manager LOCKED THE DOOR. That means that my guests were stuck out in a dangerous thunderstorm. My DJ did not have proper equipment given to him so I did not get the music I wanted for my wedding party and I to walk down the aisle to. When we got our food, it was NO WHERE NEAR AT ALL what we were led to believe. It all liked like it came out of a school cafeteria. What I was hoping would be the best day ever, turned into a wet nightmare. The camp is NOT set up or managed well enough for a wedding. If you DO decide to have a wedding here, Make sure EVERYTHING is in writing and I highly recommend using outside everything. Catering, decorations, everything. If you use something from the camp, expect to pay double, then be asked for more.
Now I understand this is a camp for kids and it is non profit, but it just doesn't hold up to the standards of a decent wedding venue. For other celebrations and camp events, I could understand. But until they have good management that is very well trained in dealing with stressful situations that come with a wedding, I would recommend another venue.
This venue is just what it sounds like, a camp. The pond makes a half way decent backdrop, but unfortunately the backup plan in the event of rain is not adequate. Make sure EVERY...
THING is in writing. Even though things were in writing, we had so many issues with this venue and manager that we could write a book. The menu agreed on wasn’t what was served and what was served was done so by unprofessionaly dressed camp helpers. Family and guests were yelled at by staff, the a/c didn’t work so the cake began to melt and had to be served prior to the so called dinner which was served cafeteria style. The food was not good at all and we heard several complaints of this. The dancing area was across the swampy yard with no transportation for the elderly family members as had been promised. The manager sold us on the point that every detail would be handled but that just didn’t happen. We had to request for the bird poop to be washed off the dance floor and guest seating area for the ceremony. Sadly the staff didn’t monitor the weather very well and sent us down the isle into what turned into a severe thunderstorm within minutes. The ceremony had to be stopped, guests ran for shelter, and with a soaked bride continued seated at the dinner tables. The worst part is that the camp charged nearly double what was ever discussed in writing, but when you have a pro bono attorney on the board, it is too costly to fight. What should have been the best day of my daughter’s life was ruined.
This place had a beautiful pond. The "clubhouse" is small and with all the tables and chairs for a wedding, it is very cramped. I was at a couple of different weddings and they wer...
e both so cramped, it was hard to move around at all. They both had about 160 people. The camp manager was very unprofessional at all the weddings I came to and was very rude. She didn't seem at all very happy to be having weddings at the venue. She and her staff dressed in cut off Jean shorts and t-shirts which I thought looked trashy and unprofessional. She yelled at the photographer for hanging up the brides dress to take pictures and also was rude and snippy to to myself and other guests more than once, for things very trivial. She changes things on the contracts and over charges. The room they have for the bridal party is is not set up for it. It has old dirty beds in the room that are for the camp sleep overs that you aren't permitted to move for pictures or the camp manager is angry. Everything that I would expect or want for a wedding was severely lacking or non existant at this venue. I would not recommend this place to anyone.
Hubby and I had our wedding and reception at Indian Hills in October 2016. WOW. The fall weather and scenery was beautiful, Ann and her crew helped make the day go off without a hi...
tch, everything was very stress-free for us and turned out AMAZING. They provide catering on-site if you choose, which was perfect for us. We also were able to spend as much time as we wanted the day before setting up, which was a huge stress reliever. Our wedding was absolutely beautiful, and everything we ever imagined it would be. We couldn't be happier with the way it turned out.
