This is such a beautiful venue. Shannon and her team are so professional and helpful throughout the entire planning process. They did multiple walkthroughs with us and our catering...
team to ensure everything would be exactly how we planned it. We had our ceremony and reception outside and used one of the smaller galleries inside for cocktail hour. You get access to the building and the entire grounds when you rent the venue. Having the cocktail hour inside was a good break for our guests to get some AC and get to view all the beautiful art that they showcase. They even got to watch some artists blow glass in an open workshop! The Art Center is really familiar with smaller weddings but they exceeded our expectations when handling our 200 person wedding. We had a large tent delivered and set up in the open grass area to the west of the building. Shannon and her team set up the tables and chairs and worked very closely with our caterer for all the other details and table settings. They let us store all decor we bought inside the building on Friday night which was so helpful for the day of. The Art Center is one of the most affordable venues in Indianapolis that supports such an incredible cause. Our guests were amazed at the art, the beauty of the gardens, and the sustainable goal that the center works towards. There is plenty of parking on site, I would recommend renting a golf cart if you plan to use the east parking lot to be more efficient. The grounds and center are handicap accessible and the restrooms were very clean.
While this is a beautiful wedding venue, there were some disappointments.
There is not adequate handicapped access to the patio and our elderly family members had to be conveyed a...
cross grass quite a distance.
Speaking of the grass, it had not been treated for insects and we were swatting at gnats while waiting to walk down the aisle. I know there are eco friendly products that could be used.
We used the deck for cocktail hour and it could use some sprucing up - power washing for a start. Furthermore, we weren’t expecting to see an orange barricade around the Upside Down House. It would have been nice if they had mentioned that it would be roped off when we secured the use of the venue.
We had asked for a microphone and lectern for the officiant and were told it would be provided but on the “day of “ none could be produced.
DO NOT BOOK THIS VENUE......They have lost their event coordinator, and things are a mess.....We had a rehearsal the day before the wedding, no one showed to run it.....We had dir...
ty bathrooms, at least the women's was....Paint covered tables, that when we put white linens on them, it showed through....Our event coordinator for the day was awol....The lights that are usually wrapped around the portico were missing, and at 830 it was DARK......The owner Patrick Flarrity was UNWILLING to compensate us for ANY of this....5000.000 DID NOT GET WHAT WE PAID FOR....claims that these things should have bee addressed the day of the wedding, right, like we didn't have better things to do...we did address them 2 days later.......
Megan Reinhardt is the manager and did an absolutely fabulous job of working with our wedding vendors, helping us visualize the space, setting everything up and really working hard...
to make our wedding everything we'd hoped. The space creates such a wonderful backdrop for pictures you don't need much decor. The perfect outdoor venue!
The staff was awesome to work with. They met all of our needs and were very helpful along the way. The site is beautiful especially in the summer with the garden area and art found...
inside the art center. Well worth the money!
