We had our wedding reception in Deer Pavilion at Newfields, and it was a perfect venue for our perfect day. The team at Newfields was great to work with - professional, kind, communicative. There are several options for a second location to host a ceremony or cocktail hour. The garden is available for pictures, which is a great spot for photos. It’s such a beautiful venue that we didn’t feel like we needed to take wedding photos at other locations in the city. We had both indoor and outdoor spots for photos. Our reception was about 270 people, which is the ideal number for that space with a dance floor. I wouldn’t recommend more than that or else it would be tight. Definitely recommend!!!
Newfields is an absolutely stunning venue for a wedding. The gardens are world class - -which is why my daughter chose this venue - unfortunately, it rained on the day of the wedding but the back up plan in the great hall was lovely and the reception area spectacular, and a short break in the rain still allowed for a few garden photos. I would highly recommend this venue!
While the venue is beautiful & the food was top notch, unfortunately my experience on wedding day was not as expected. The staff at Newfields were extremely rude to me, my husband, my family & photographers. We were yelled at multiple times for taking pictures in popular spots that are in their marketing wedding material!! You could tell museum staff were over weddings/brides and not respectful. They were rude, not helpful, told our photographers to put cameras away at points, and overall just not nice. It was such a shock and very disappointing. Our assigned coordinator from Newfields was never around to help either. We also had to share picture spots with random brides, even though I had paid for the venue for my own wedding. For the price paid for this venue, & several great reviews, you’d expect top notch experience. Kahn’s however, was amazing to work with, so I don’t want to take anything away from them.
The wedding was beautiful & the rest of the night was unforgettable, but the day time/pre wedding/photos we felt so disrespected, it was pretty disappointing. I wouldn’t recommend choosing this as your venue, as no bride should be treated like this on their wedding day.
We got married on the Lilly Terrace and the view was incredible! We have loved the IMA/Newfields for so long and to be able to get married there was so wonderful. We were able to walk around the full arts garden for pictures and there were so many gorgeous spots. We had our reception in the Deer Zink Pavilion and it was perfect! The view again was so pretty with the fall leaves through the giant windows and the fountain lit up at night. Our guests kept coming up to us raving about the venue. Erin was our venue coordinator and was so easy to work with - very responsive and attentive to details. I would do it all over again if I could - highly recommend!!
When we first set foot into the Deer Zink Event Pavilion at the IMA we were blown away. It is a huge space that we knew would easily hold our 250 guests, so we booked it the same day we looked at it. The words modern and elegant both accurately describe the space. The event manager, Nicole, was excellent. She answered all of our questions quickly and even handled my last minute requests with ease.
The day of the wedding we got dressed in some of the classroom spaces (a very last minute request) and we were then able to take pictures on the grounds/have our first look.
The parking situation for guests is incredibly easy. There's a garage with an elevator that goes straight into the cocktail hour, which is great for handicap accessibility. Guests can also leave their cars overnight if needed.
Note, the $4,500 is just the room rental. The exclusive caterer (Kahn's) does have a catering minimum so that's not included in what is listed here.
We loved the Art Museum. It is a beautiful venue in Indianapolis and was such a great space. Would definitely recommend!
I got married in the Garden Terrace and the ceremony was beautiful. The flowers were blooming outside and I didn't need to provide any flowers for the ceremony because nature did! Inside the space is beautiful - light and airy - with shades of green which complimented my peach and green colors perfectly. Lauren was our day of coordinator and she did great. Cost of renting for a Saturday night wedding was $2000 so obviously a great value for a small wedding (building only holds 60 total). Total thumbs up!
We had our reception at the Deer Zink. The staff made the venue beautiful with the uplighting and fountain! The staff was very responsive and easy to work with!
We had a small Friday wedding at the IMA. The staff at the IMA and Nourish catering (based in the IMA) were fantastic. The food was great and service was very good. Could have been a little faster, but it was a nice relaxing evening. My only gripe was that they need to shade the silverware for the cocktail hour on hot days, or put them in ice or something. The silverware was so hot no one could eat the great appetizers!
Overall beautiful venue and very happy with it.
I was so excited to have the IMA for the backdrop on my wedding day. The staff was great and executed every detail perfectly.
It was wonderful! The Deer Zink Pavillion is an excellent place for a reception, especially if you're trying to bring a natural or garden element to your reception. Being able to do photos in the gardens post-ceremony was excellent. We did not get married at the IMA, so I cannot say anything about having a ceremony there.
The events staff were very responsive and easy to work with. It is a bit pricey, and the catering minimum really only allows for a larger reception, but I cannot think of a better location. The Deer Zink looks out on the large fountain in front of the museum, and they light it up for the evening.
