My husband and I had our wedding at the Inn at Pleasant Lake (IPL) in 9/2023. Our experience had both positive and negative elements.
Positive: We chose the property because it is beautiful, on a lake, in an area that is special to us. We loved being able to stay overnight with close family members for the weekend; it was an intimate experience and made it easier for us to all be in one spot. We had a lot of fun walking around and exploring the property, and the day of festivities on Saturday was beautiful and went smoothly, thanks to the hard work of my wedding planner and her team, and the staff at IPL.
Negative: there were several significant challenges during the entire planning phase of the wedding, right up to the Friday of the wedding weekend. Highlights below:
Difficult communication. From the beginning, our point of contact at IPL was extremely slow to respond to emails or even texts (typically several weeks). Our wedding planner also had difficulty communicating with him. When he did respond, it was often missing details or not addressing everything. This may have been because he is very busy with IPL business, but it made planning and coordinating very difficult.
Tasting dinner and wedding menu challenges. We arranged a catering tasting at the Inn, as is standard for a wedding. When we met with the head chef, we were told we could not make specific requests for the tasting dinner. We would be ordering off their standard dinner menu, even though this would not be the menu that would be used for the actual wedding. We requested to sit outside (where our wedding would be), but this was declined. The dinner was not complimentary. Basically, we bought ourselves dinner at the Inn’s restaurant.
Major component of our wedding weekend fell through one day before. Early on, we started planning to have campfires on the lakeshore on Saturday night. This was a huge part of our wedding vision and a big part of choosing the IPL property. The lakeshore is actually owned by the neighboring community. We had to get their permission to use the lakeshore, in addition to coordinating with a fire company, getting a town fire permit, and a lot of other logistics/expenses to get a large crowd down to the shore (golf carts, lighting, seating, bathrooms). On Friday before the wedding, we were told that our request to use the lakeshore was denied. Based on our communication with IPL, it was our understanding that this had been secured long before the weekend. Thankfully, our wedding planner was able to coordinate an alternative plan for the evening.
It has now been about 6 months since our wedding. I had mixed feelings about this venue, and I struggled with the decision to write something public. My first choice was to talk with the Inn management directly to give them my feedback. So, about two months ago, I reached out to the IPL team, letting them know we wished to discuss our perspective about the weekend. By the time of posting this I have not received a response.
Overall, we had a lovely weekend, but would I have my wedding at the Inn at Pleasant Lake again? Not with the current management. It would not be worth the stress it caused us during the months of planning. I would like to give a shout out to Sorrell Downing at Events By Sorrell, our wedding planner, who helped make this process go as smoothly as possible and enabled us to have a beautiful event despite the planning headaches and last-minute disappointments.
The Inn at Pleasant Lake is a beautiful location to celebrate your wedding day. My daughter was looking for an intimate wedding with food and lodgings for our party of twenty and Pleasant Lake had everything she was looking for. The staff was responsive, friendly and professional. Julia, the event coordinator was so sweet, she made our stay more than we could have hoped. She was always available, responsive to our needs and many questions. The rooms were beyond amazing, the Inn itself called to my love of historical buildings with understated modern improvements. One word of caution, if you have trouble going up and down stairs, this is not the place for you. I can go on about the grounds, food and hospitality but you need to experience it for yourslef.
This was the most perfect place for our small intimate Wedding Weekend. Jennifer and Scott were amazing to work with and really helped us to make our vision become our reality! They and their staff were on top of everything and really helped to make our Wedding a dream come true. The grounds and Inn are absolutely breathtaking, and so comfortable, they really made us feel right at home. The food is AMAZING. Chef Leary is absolutely amazing and took all of our guests on a true culinary experience that we will never forget! A weekend we will never forget!
Everything about the Inn was five stars. The staff went out of their way to make sure everything was beyond satisfactory. They were cordial & friendly. Our guests raved about the ceremony, accommodations and the 5 course meal is something to experience. The grounds are beautifully maintained and manicured. It is well worth your time to go visit and experience their hospitality. Best wishes for the joy we had on our wedding day.
Postcard-picture bucolic setting on the lake. Wonderful inn and facility, amazing food, and attentive hosts. Every detail was thought of and executed with care. We were treated as friends, Jen and Scott and their staff took all the stress out for us. Several of us stayed on the property, and cant wait to return. Everything was easy and perfect.
My husband and I held our intimate wedding and reception at the Inn at Pleasant Lake and could not speak more highly of their service and atmosphere. Our entire family was impressed by the event from start to finish. The owners worked closely with us in each step of the planning and truly made it the most stress-free experience possible. To say the food was delicious would be an understatement; we helped design the menu for the day and Chef Leary certainly delivered for us. Many of our family members stayed on-site and enjoyed the property as well. We could not have asked for a better experience on such an important day, and would recommend it beyond a doubt. If you are looking for stunning views and down-to-earth, thoughtful service, this is the place!
Outstanding all inclusive venue. Beautiful views all around the venue grounds. The food is absolutely amazing and I have never had a bad experience. Jen and Scott take the time to go over every detail and give you the opportunity to make the special day your own. WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!
We had a lot of uncertainty in planning our son's wedding as the bride was overseas waiting for her fiancee visa to enter the States. We chose the weekend after Christmas, and booked out the entire Inn making it a small (40person) intimate destination wedding. Everything was magical and met our high standards. The snow. The twinkling lights. The fire in the fireplace as the couple said their vows. Gorgeous photos after the ceremony in the barn and outside. The photographer. The flowers and the over all romantic and old world ambiance of the dinning room and the Inn. We can not rave enough about the meal - high quality and presentation - the chef worked with us to create an East meets West fusion menu reflecting the bride and groom. Guest said it was the most beautiful and intimate wedding they had ever attended. And I was grateful that I only needed to climb the stairs to a beautiful appointed room at the end of the evening, while the younger fold stayed up chatting in the front of the fire. Couldn't be happier. And in the morning a lovely breakfast awaited. Bride came from Korea. Couple living in New York. Grooms Parents live in Hong Kong with a country home in nearby Sunapee.
We recently celebrated our son and his wife's marriage with a small group of family and friends. We had the whole Inn to ourselves most of the time. It was a great experience. The staff were very attentive to our needs and accommodated special requests. The location and surroundings are bucolic and serene. I highly recommend the Inn at Pleasant for family gatherings.
The Inn at Pleasant Lake was the perfect venue for our wedding. We had initially looked at thIs location for their fabulous food - we wanted to avoid “typical wedding food” and the Inn/Oak & Grain had become our favorite NH restaurant. But the gardens, the quaint atmosphere, and the gorgeous lake views sealed the deal. Working with the owner, wedding coordinator, and chef was extremely easy and smooth. They maintained clear lines of communication, responded very quickly to emails and phone calls, and did a great job at smoothing out the “bumps in the road”. The team helped me create my wedding vision and this venue was the perfect choice for our garden wedding. I would have to recommend it to everyone.
We were so stressed with picking a venue but once we visited the Inn at Pleasant Lake and met with Jennifer, all of that stress vanished. We fell in love at first site when it came to the venue. It is such a quaint space especially for a winter wedding. When it came to the wedding, Jennifer and the staff did everything they could to make us all feel like we were at home. The floral decorations around the fireplace and the table settings were so beautifully done. Chef Leary made one of the best meals a have had ever and he was very accommodating for our gluten free guests. We truly couldnt have chosen a better place for our wedding. Everyone at The Inn at Pleasant Lake made sure we had our dream wedding.
The Inn at Pleasant Lake is an appealing, very beautiful setting with fabulous food and beverage options. We hired a wedding planner to help us organize the event details and the owners of The Inn and their staff were graciously cooperative with all of her plans and suggestions. Also, the communication from the owners was timely and clear from the moment we booked The Inn until the wedding weekend. On the wedding day, the reception ran as smoothly as possible and the venue was truly relaxing and enjoyable.
The Inn at Pleasant Lake was THE PERFECT place for our intimate small wedding. We were able to secure the whole place for ourselves, family and friends arrived on Friday and we were able to have a wonderful weekend with family and friends. It's right on the lake, the gardens are beautiful and good luck trying to find better food...theirs just can't be topped. Everything was perfect, no stress and all that we could ask for. Our guests were even asking if we could get married again the next weekend so we could do it all over!
This was our second wedding and we just wanted a small, intimate gathering, just us, my son and parents. Jen & Scott took care of everything: officiant, bouquet, cake, 5 course dinner, photographer, makeup artist, hair, all to our specs. The inn was decorated for Christmas and was so beautiful. It added a special quality to the occasion.
We've since gone back and stayed a couple times during winter & summer, the area is gorgeous and a nice place to get away from it all. Thank you Scott and Jen for making our day so special!
The staff at the Inn at Pleasant Lake helped our daughter and her now husband plan a wedding celebration reflective of their dreams and individual styles. The architecture and grounds of the Inn complemented by the mountains and lake as a backdrop provided the perfect setting for friends and family to gather. From the expertly-prepared wedding feast to the welcoming accommodations to the many special touches throughout, our family has wonderful memories (and photos) of this milestone moment to cherish.
Our daughter was married at the IPL in August. If we could give 6 stars, we would! First of all, the setting is gorgeous! The lawn worked perfectly for the outdoor wedding the bride and groom had dreamed of, and their reception under a large tent was exquisite. The food was absolutely delicious; our guests couldn't stop raving about their gourmet meals. The staff at the Inn ( the owners and the wedding liaison) were beyond helpful throughout the planning process in personalizing all of the details for the entire day.
Equally, the wait staff on duty the day of the wedding were all completely professional and attentive.
We also hosted a Welcome Party (drinks and desserts) in the Inn's amazing barn the Friday night before the wedding. Everyone had a wonderful time and genuinely loved being included in an additional event.
The wedding party filled the rooms at the Inn and each of the guests were incredibly pleased with their experience.
The IPL is a class-act every step of the way... we suggest you visit now and book as early as possible!
Many thanks to everyone at IPL who helped to make our wedding so spectacular! IPL was the perfect venue for a beautiful New England fall wedding. Their set up for ceremonies on the lawn overlooking the lake is breathtaking, plus getting to use the barn for the reception was like a pinterest dream come true! <3 The owners and staff are super friendly - you will have a great time working with them!! What's more, everyone there was so attentive and helpful with every last detail. It was such a relief to know I didn't have to worry about anything the day of because the staff was so on top of everything. The wedding coordinator, Jess, is the bomb and was such a pleasure to work with before the wedding. On the day of, she made sure I stayed stress free and even gave me a little pep talk before walking down the isle. :) I would definitely recommend the Inn at Pleasant Lake!!!
We couldn't be happier! This is a very special place to my family. We loved sharing it with all of our favorite people. My husband and I are still getting compliments on the food from our wedding!
Superlative and professional in every way!
Beautiful setting, lovely dinner and caring and friendly staff.
We loved every detail of our wedding. The food was amazing, the staff was so easy and helpful to work with and it was so nice having less to think about with the flowers and the cake being included. Having the whole inn to ourselves made the whole experience more intimate and was unlike any other wedding that we have ever attended. We have gone back every year for our anniversary and enjoy every second we're there
1. The owners are an amazing couple and are very kind and considerate. They are very down to earth people and a very sociable as well.
2. The staff was equally as friendly and made our stay at the Inn incredibly pleasant as its namesake.
3. The location is very beautiful and the lakeside view we had when my wife and I married was amazing. The weather was perfect (when compared to the Texas heat).
4. The rooms are very quaint and they have a homely feeling to them. It made for a cozy time for me and my wife while we were relaxing.
5. The best part for me was the restaurant at the Inn. The chef is simply awesome. He talks to all his customers and asks if their is anything wrong or right with the meal. He seems like the kind of person who takes his profession seriously and expects perfection for his meals.
Overall my wife and I plan to return as soo as possible to experience it again. It was magical and we couldn't have picked a better place to be married. The friendliness and passion that the staff of the Inn at Pleasant lake and their restaurant Oak & Grain created the perfect getaway and experience that made it unforgettable.
We had a beautiful October wedding at the Inn. Jennifer was so helpful with all of the details so all I had to do was enjoy the day. The food was excellent, staff was phenomenal, and it was overall a truly memorable experience. Chef Leary even made amazing dishes for a family member with multiple allergies and food restrictions. She was so happy with her experience that it brought her to tears. We would highly recommend!
Love the Inn at Pleasant Lake! It's a beautiful location with really personable and hard-working staff. They really went the extra mile!
My wife and I cannot say enough great things about the staff and location of the Inn at Pleasant Lake! Jennifer and Scott, along with Jessica, Chef Brian, and the staff, went out of their way to make our wedding weekend exceptional. Our Family and friends still rave about the food, location, and fun!
The Inn at Pleasant lake took care of every aspect of our wedding - rooms for the wedding party, food for all events (a seafood boil rehearsal dinner, a 5-course plated dinner of the finest ingredients, brunch, and open bar), rentals, audio and dance tent - all for a very reasonable price. And they helped us find all our vendors, flowers, bakery, photos; you name it, they have a recommendation. If you are looking to have an unforgettable wedding in an idyllic New England location (think lakefront views, charming barn, and gorgeous old-style Inn with modern amenities), the Inn at Pleasant Lake is THE only choice!
The perfect setting, well organized and orchestrated. Wonderful food and drink and a wonderfully delicious
Wedding cake.
My husband and I got married at the Inn in September 2019. The experience was nothing short of extraordinary! During the entire planning process Jennifer, Scott and Jessica were always there to answer any questions. During the wedding weekend Jennifer, Scott and Jessica were there helping with whatever we needed to set up for the special day. The level of care and the attention to detail more than surpassed our expectations. I would recommend the inn to anyone looking for a beautiful location and amazing staff that will do whatever they need to do to make your wedding weekend the most amazing and memorable weekend. Thank you Jennifer, Scott, Jessica and Chef for an amazing wedding weekend!!

Outstanding! We had our daughter's wedding celebration at the Inn at Pleasant Lake, and we could not have been happier! We rented the entire inn from Friday until Monday. We all enjoyed an incredible 5 course dinner and lovely brunch the next day. The Inn is MAGICAL... beautifully appointed with lovely decor and scrumptious food. On the celebration day, we hiked, canoed, paddle-boarded, swam... knowing that all the details of our event were being expertly handled. I would go back for a stay again at this gorgeous place in a heartbeat!
