AVOID THIS VENUE!!! In spite of a thorough review of their contract, verifying my questions with the staff and a walk through; somehow the Storytelling Center double booked my we...
dding with a 6 to 7pm meeting in the room where the food tables were set up...In spite of having that room set up the day before; We the bride and groom knew nothing of it till minutes before our guests were to arrive. The staff were surly, rude, incompetent and flat out lied. One of the biggest problems with the meeting: the attendees would have had to walk through the wedding area to get to their meeting room while we were in the middle of our reception doing the toasts, special dances, etc. The wedding coordinator arriving significantly late exacerbated the situation.
The staff had moved the banquet tables to the dance floor and took the chairs we needed for the ceremony among other things.
My family and guests had to pitch in to rectify on a dime. It was akin to a Chinese Fire Drill, especially since both the 8 foot banquet tables fell apart: bolts had fallen out.
This is a multi-million dollar building which receives way plenty funding. When setting up, I could see things that were way past due to be replaced and repaired. (I am also a retired Interior Designer.)
Window AC units not large enough to cool a trailer....the HVAC had been out for months!
Scaffolding at the entrance to the venue.
Refrigerator not cleared for the caterer and bar tender in spite of asking multiple times.
I would give the ISTC a ZERO, if that rating were available.
Family from WA state, NY, NC and local guests became acquainted quickly. One of the upsides.
The bride, me, had a melt down which was very difficult to recover from within minutes of walking the aisle.
The staff had no compassion or willingness to assist.
I am a retired Naval Officer who has done lots of service work in positions that require attention to detail and accuracy. I was EXTREMELY THOROUGH WITH ALL CONTRACTS PERTAINING TO MY WEDDING which was particularly upsetting, disappointing, etc.
The wedding coordinator asked for compensation on our behalf and/or an apology. We were told that we would have to take legal action for compensation. No surprise that we did not receive an apology of any kind. There is more, but I think you are well advised to AVOID JONESBOROUGH'S INTERNATIONAL STORYTELLING CENTEER. Jonesborough is a delightful town, I love it in spite of this EPIC FAIL. There are much much better places in our area to host a wedding.

nd doors opening to the courtyard and balcony help to make the rooms full of light and airy, which is great for atmosphere and photos. We were happy to see our guests flow easily through the indoor and outdoor spaces. The ISC staff is great – courteous and friendly, both before and during the event. They answered all our questions with evident experience and expertise. ISC is situated on Main Street in Jonesborough, which is a charming little street. Overall, we could not have chosen better!

vent...smaller, more intimate, to a larger party...indoors or out, the ISC is just a beautiful space, and after shopping around, we couldn't find a venue to compete with the value. The staff was very helpful and welcoming. If you need help selecting vendors, they have built relationships with several local vendors who are familiar with the setup of the ISC and they work together to make your even flow seamlessly! The location in downtown Jonesborough offers your guests something to do before or after your wedding. And the whole Storytelling atmosphere just adds to the new chapter your are starting in your life on your wedding day. I just can't recommend the International Storytelling Center enough!

ve with the beauty of it all. Jonesborough is already a lovely, quaint town. The ISC fits right in with the enchantment of the town.
The ISC gave us a lot of beautiful space for an affordable price!
The park provided a wonderful space for pictures and for our guests to walk around. There is also a gorgeous, rock staircase that leads to the park that is great for pictures. The courtyard is roomy. It provided enough space for us to do what we pleased ceremony and reception wise. Aesthetically, it added another dimension of beauty. We loved all the brick and the column entrance.
Inside the ISC was even more stunning than the outside. The big windows in the rooms added so much natural light. The rooms were spacious enough to accommodate our guests comfortably. My wife and I loved the balcony! It connects the two rooms from the outside and overlooks the town. We cannot say enough about how lovely the ISC was for our special day.
We cannot write a review without saying how great Jessica was during the process. She was attentive to our questions and needs, she recommended great vendors to us, and she made sure that we had everything we needed the day of. We were thankful for all her help.
I highly recommend those to choose the ISC as their venue for their special day! Our wedding was marvelous. We credit a lot of that to the International Storytelling Center's location, aesthetic appeal, and the staff.
