ather was perfect that weekend, as was all of June up here. As our dozens of 5-star reviews, particularly for communication and accessibility show, we offer personal and frequent communication with our clients. Those are in the form of email, text and even phone calls. Going back over our dozen emails I saw one that I missed and apologized for. You apparently found us on TheKnot but chose to email directly, although TheKnot provides an easy-to-track message thread. As to the those things which disappointed you, it was possibly a case of you hearing only what you wanted to hear during our dozens of emails and texts preceding your wedding day. I made clear that you were paying for an extended elopement package, not an all-day wedding plan. You first contacted us requesting a quote for a small ceremony for 20 guests. I described our Elopement Package, which includes an officiant, florals, a cake, seating, wedding arch and access to our venue for a total of 2 hours. It is a simple, yet attractive option for those wanting only a ceremony without a reception. You stated that it sounded good and asked about adding a small, simple reception. I said that our normal full-access wedding offering gives clients access to the venue, not 2 hours as does the elopement package, but all day. Our minimum venue fee for that is double the elopement price and does not include the cake, flowers, officiant etc of the elopement. Because we had a wedding the previous day and you had only 20 guests, we could offer that for $less than normal. You then said that sounded good, you’d like that and could we include all of the elopement package amenities, which we of course said no to. We wouldn’t add amenities valued at $1000 to an already drastically reduced price. By that time your guest list increased to 24. By the time of your tour the guest list had increased to 35. We negotiated a price, more than fair to you, that would allow 5 hours access to venue ( clearly listed in bold on contract), from 2-7 pm, and include, as you said, a small reception with family. I did say that you would be allowed to use the bridal suite to change. In emails following that you requested access to the venue beginning at 10am. I of course said no, as we needed to get venue ready for your event, but you could access the cabin at noon, which still would provide for a total of 7 hours access to the venue. The week of the event you contacted me again to insist that you have access beginning at 10 or 11 and I again said it would be open by 12. You stated that all venues allow all-day access which of course they do not. Ours is unique in the area for allowing that and is, again, available for clients who pay for the full-day wedding. At no time did you say you would be hiring a DJ, bartender, photographer and videographer. In fact you provided our officiant with a detailed timeline including arrival times for Dj, bartender, photographers, videographer, a timeline that you did not provide us. All of our clients are important to us. We clearly state what is included both in initial conversations on TheKnot/Wedding Wire and in our contract to avoid any surprises for the client and for us. In offering you an additional 2 hours access to the venue, over the stated and paid for 5 hours, we did everything possible to make your wedding day special.

We’ve anticipated your wedding day for some time and both Theresa and I agree that the day was a huge success. Your ceremony was beautiful and some of the funny stories in your vows had us both laughing. Your Wes Anderson-movie-themed wedding was such a good idea and your Dad’s custom arch was unique and amazing. It was a fun reception, with an always full dance floor.
