I was trying to order invitations on a strict budget.
When I first communicated with the owner of this business, I made it clear that my maximum price point was $3-$4/invitatio...n. The owner told me "well, you may have to go a little bit more expensive, up to $5/invitation, for a nicer invitation. But I can do it." I decided to proceed with the custom design with the idea that my maximum price would be $5.
The owner and I video chatted so I could see her designs. They were completely average designs, nothing over the top or particularly special. The owner wasted 2 hours of my time going through custom designs and getting me really excited about the invitation. She told me she would give me the quote the next day.
The owner texted me the next day quoting $9/invitation. Um, hello? That is more than twice of what I had originally asked for. I am confused why the owner spent 2 hours with me going through all of these custom designs knowing that I could not afford it. THAT IS CALLED THE BAIT AND SWITCH METHOD!
In my books, anyone that practices the bait and switch method is UNTRUSTWORTHY and SCHEMING. Even if her designs were beautiful, someone like her does not deserve to have business because she uses these dishonest methods to attract customers.
I hope she knows who is writing this. This is Shivani, Aunty. I do not wish you the best.
