Shelly does amazing work and is so kind and thoughtful! The cake was so delicious. We struggled to narrow all of her amazing flavors down to 3. Highly recommend!

We loved working with Shelly!! From meeting her at the DSM wedding show (and falling in love with her tuxedo cake) to the day of our wedding the whole process was super easy and organized. I loved the timeline/check list she provides so you know exactly what you should be doing/asking/buying. She made us a two tier cake for cutting with fresh floral decor and it was absolutely beautiful! Our guests raved about all four flavors of sheet cakes, especially the gluten free raspberry zinger!!

Shelly and her cakes were both amazing! I first met Shelly at a bridal show when my dad and I tasted her cakes. They were so moist and flavorful and my dad couldn't stop talking her ear off about how much he loved them. I learned more about her concept by talking to her and then reading her website later. Since we were planning long distance, my dad did our tasting for us and from there we picked three cake flavors. A few weeks before the wedding, we called Shelly and planned our final cake design. Shelly was very responsive to emails and scheduled phone calls in advance so we both had time to prepare. She even helped me pick the right sized cake topper. I had many ideas for the look of the cake, and she always let me know what she thought would or wouldn't work. A few days before the wedding, she let us know the window for delivery. On the day of, she delivered and set up the cake; I was thrilled with how beautiful our three tiered fake cake looked. She explained how to cut into the real portion in the back and had small ribbons marking it so we wouldn't forgot. All of our guests raved about how delicious all of the flavors of our cake were! We ended up ordering more than our guests could eat, so we got to bring home a lot of leftovers, which thrilled my husband. I took some to work as well and all of my coworkers loved the cake too, even with it being a few days old! Since we were leaving the next day to travel back home, Shelly had arranged for my dad to meet her at a location on her delivery route for her Saturday weddings so that he didn't have to drive all the way to Baxter to return the rental cake. I would recommend Shelly and her bakery to anyone!

We are so pleased that we chose Iowa Rent a Cake. Our 4 tier "fake" cake was better than what we imagined and the sheet cakes were delicious. We got so many compliments on our cake and no one seemed to notice that it was fake. Shelly was an absolute pleasure to work with as well!

Such a wonderful idea! We are so pleased we chose Iowa Rent-A-Cake for our wedding day. Shelly did an amazing job with the "main" cake. It was absolutely gorgeous and just what we envisioned. And the sheet cakes - YUM. We were able to have a variety of flavors, and they were all delicious. Shelly was so easy to work with, and by delivering and setting up the cake for us, she took away a lot of the "day-of" stress!

Our beautiful cake was a beautiful centerpiece for our venue, as our cake captured our theme of creating a vintage look with a glamorous flare! Our guests enjoyed delicious cakes that had amazing flavor and we were able to have an affordable option for the 5 tiered cake we desired! It was a win-win! Shelly is a wonderful, professional, and experienced pastry chef to work with. We loved her creativity and assistance helping us capture our theme. Her cakes are exceptional and we would recommend all couples to consider her cakes for their special day.

I had a great experience with my Rent-a-cake, and think it was a really great thing. Months later, I told someone it was fake and she was shocked! She said she never would have suspected. They look beautiful, and you can still cut them in a little spot at the back. Even better was that we got to have 3 different flavors of cake, with enough for all guests to have 1 or 2 selections. Can't imagine how we could have had a cake big enough to pull that off! If you're thinking about rental, I say absolutely go for it. And the sheet cakes are SO delicious, they are now the standard against which all others will be compared. We've attended a few other weddings now, and my husband will routinely shrug at the cake and say "Ours was so much better." We had many compliments on the flavor of the cake. We loved all of the flavor options. The "big cake" was beautiful and most of the guests didn't realize that it wasn't edible. Shelly was great to work with. The cake was easy to serve and we didn't have to worry about the big cake falling apart when cut. Thank you, Shelly!

We had such a great experience with Iowa Rent-A-Cake. The concept was really fun and Shelly's cake is amazing! Shelly was very thoughtful and instantly captured what I had envisioned for our cake. Our guests LOVED the cake, too! Several confessed to eating multiple pieces. :) I really enjoyed being able to pick several different types of cake for the sheet cakes, so we had something that all of our guests would enjoy.

Shelly is so great! This is a wonderful way to get the beautiful cake you want, but not sacrifice deliciousness. The decorative cake was beautiful, and the "sheet" cakes were a-mazing! Everyone raved about them. I love how she has such unique and different flavors instead of chocolate or white cake. I wouldn't go to anyone else! WONDERFUL!

I found this business at a local bridal show, and it was SO worth the trip! Our price was under $500 and it included the "fake" decorated 4-tier wedding cake, 5 sheet cakes, and a delivery fee. Shelly lets you have a lot of freedom in decorating your fake cake, and there is a slot in the back of the fake cake where she puts in real cake. So, when you go to cut the cake with your husband, it looks real! The guests are then served sheet cakes. This cake is fabulous, many guests said that it was the best wedding cake they had ever had at a wedding. I was on a pretty tight budget for this wedding, and Iowa Rent-A-Cake was a fraction of the cost of other traditional wedding cakes. The "fake" cake was beautiful and she provided specific instructions for transport and return following the wedding. Highly recommended!

First of all, Shelly won me over at a bridal show by providing the only slice of cake that wasn't bone dry! Shelly made things super simple! The initial meeting was quick and to the point, and she sent us home with 6 cupcakes to help us decide the perfect flavor. I didn't have to worry about the cake until the last minute (aka, two weeks to go!), and it was even better than I had imagined! And I'm not blaming her for the cake smashed on my face. But she is totally getting credit for the awesome photos of us licking up every last crumb because the flavor was beyond amazing!

This was an AMAAAAZING option! I like that my cake was on display the whole night! It looked FLAWLESS and looks really good in pictures. Shelly makes the most delicious cakes. I crave it. They are so moist and the filling is to DIE for. mmm. Everyone was talking about how good it was. I only wished I would have saved more time for cake.

I was very happy with how our cake turned out! We gave Shelly a few pictures we liked and she combined them to make one that we loved! The sheet cakes were delicious - we did vanilla with raspberry filling and a chocolate cake with caramel filling. The only down side is you do have to provide any ribbon, flowers, cake topper that you would like, not a huge deal but if you're not artistic like myself I struggled finding what I was looking for!

Shelly designed our cake based on a picture we sent her. It was beautiful :) We had apple spice and tuxedo 9white and chocolate with a ganache middle). Both were delicious. No one knew our cake was fake.

This place is awesome!! My cake was absolutely gorgeous and the sheet cakes were to die for. I loved the rent a cake idea because the beautiful cake could be seen all night and the cake was amazing without having to eat around fondant.

Best cake I've ever had.

The cake was awesome! She had great prices and great choices for flavors of the cake. A few days before the wedding however she didn't know if she was going to be able to deliver my cake or not which we had paid for when we booked her . I didn't know until the day before if I was going to have a cake or not. This was one thing i wasn't expecting and didn't want to have to worry about the day before my wedding. I also got a grooms cake from her and it was broken by the time anyone had got to the reception. I guess you can't really control this but when you pay good money for a cake you expect it to last at least a few hours.

The cake is amazing! Shely puts together a magnificent display. Very very talented! I would recommend her to anyone

We LOVED Shelly's cakes, and so did our guests! She has some of the best cake we have ever had, and is so reasonably priced. We had 5 different, and unique flavored of cake at our wedding, and our guests wanted to try them all. Shelly was so great to work with- we wish we could get married again for more of her cake!

My rent-a-cake was awesome! It was everything I dreamed of. She was great to work with!

This is by far the best cake I've ever had, and everyone was telling us the same! It was amazing. You have to go online and read about it! The cake is styrofoam and covered in fondant so it looks and smells real! Then there's a real piece of cake inserted in the back for when we cut the cake! The cake is then wheeled behind stage where sheet cakes are cut up and then those are brought out for everyone. We got so many compliments, I would defnintely recommend this to anyone!
